  1. You will need a boat to get beyond the reef which surrounds the island. We didn't see anyone fishing from shore.
  2. I think the whole handle assembly looks great, and the position of the reel seat is not at all weird.
  3. I think that Aikmans in the GTA carry parts for them.
  4. If you need a cover they are available at www.centrepinangling.com
  5. Great catch! Looks like you had it dialed in for big perch.
  6. I've been down there twice and neither time did I see anyone fishing from shore. Most resorts have a " water sports" section and you can hire a boat to take you out to the reef to do some fishing. I believe that you are not permitted to fish between the reef and the shore.
  7. As "solopaddler" said there are many tributaries with year round areas to fish. You can find the fishing regulations on line to find out which tributaries have these open all year sections. The anglers posting pictures of their catch are fishing in the open all year sections and are not breaking any laws.
  8. Besides the coffee make sure to tell the store manager how much you appreciated the good service provided by the individual.
  9. I believe that when you have to deal with a specialist you cannot win. You are treated like a number and not as a human being. There is no acceptable excuse for the delay in your treatment. Unfortunately we are forced to endure their lack of concern for their patients.
  10. The last time that I was out east hiring a guide was mandatory .
  11. Since the anglers are from the USA they would be fined , but probably not have to pay the fines. US citizens don't have to pay speeding tickets or 407 charges unless they choose to.
  12. I don't think that I could sleep on that bed. Is that for when you're in the dog house?
  13. Congratulations on receiving your new reel. Islanders are true work horses and hold their value better than many of the other brands.
  14. Congratulations! We have a rescued beagle from Ohio with the same colour pattern as your dog. I'm sure you won't wear her out from walking her, as they seem to be able to go forever.
  15. A centre pin reel is different than a fly reel because it has the ability to free spool line which cannot be done with a fly reel. A mooching reel is similar to a fly reel, but has a much greater capacity than a fly reel and is designed for mono and not fly line. Mooching reels are used mostly for trolling and I don't think that they are as popular in Ontario as they are out west. Mooching reels , like fly reels, don't give you the free spool option that centre pins give you. You could use a large arbour fly reel with mono as a mooching reel if you wanted, but you wouldn't want to replace a fly reel with a mooching reel because of their weight. For your fishing style you do not need these reels IMO.
  16. Every dog owner feels your pain and sympathizes with you.
  17. Great looking dog! Your pictures captured him very well.
  18. Thanks for posting, I think that pets always become part of the family.
  19. Beautiful fish! Glad to see you taped your reel in place.
  20. I do not see the video? Never mind it appeared after I wrote this.
  21. I use Solopaddler's method and have always been able to find the leak.
  22. Congratulations on your outing. I know the rings on your rod fit tight but I would strongly recommend that you tape them in place so you can't knock one loose and have your reel fall off.
  23. I hope all turns out well for everyone concerned.
  24. I'm so jealous of you guys.
