Niagara Silver with a Touch of Gold

Awesome looking fish! -
That is one cute dog.

I would have called my 14 ft. aluminium boat a starter, your boat shouldn't be classed as a starter because it looks perfect to me. Congratulations and may you catch many fish out of it.

Great looking fish and roe!

I tried the sponge balls years ago and almost set fire to our kitchen while melting the vasolene. After enduring my wife's wrath I didn't catch anything on them.

Our car was backed into at a church event and the doer took off leaving me to pay the bill. This isn't what should happen and I hope the person responsible looses some sleep over it.

CTS is likely the best rod and reels haven't changed much since you last fished. There are many good reels that all spin when you are on the river. I use Kingpins, but that's just me.

If you fish in cold weather than a reel with 5 bearings is better than a reel with 10 bearings. I found this out the hard way while steelheading in cold weather. According to Aikmens ,who repair reels, the more ball bearings the better the chance of failure in cold weather.

I'm glad to see Sid back, I would like to see players suspended for the remainder of the season if they are caught head checking another player.

Glad to see you had an excellent day fishing with your son.

Does a big fish in the 1st 5 min jinx your day?
Ralph Field replied to GBW's topic in General Discussion
There have been many days when catching a big fish in the first five minutes would have been a blessing. When it does occur than I usually have to wait a few hours for the next big one. -
I only observed the fishing, I didn't participate. Some of the natives were after the small fish in the shallow water. I did go on a glass bottom boat trip at the resort out to the reef and saw numerous fish. I did see a fellow who came in from fishing the reef and he did catch fish. He hired the boat at the resort and they supply the tackle as do other charters so taking fishing tackle isn't necessary. The trip my wife and I took, besides the Dunn's Fall trip was the YS falls and Black River trip. I'm not trying to dash your hopes, but unless you get off shore you are going to be disappointed.
-
My wife and I enjoyed the Black river falls trip better than the Dunn's fall trip because it showed us more of the Island when we stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay. Their is no surf to try night fishing at because of the structure of the beach.

Awesome fish, awesome dog, and awesome fish!

The store is never open Sunday.

You had a great day!

I have stayed where you are going and at the resort there isn't any surf fishing to speak of. You can go out to the reef ,which is about 500 metres out and fish there. To do this you can hire a guided trip from the water sports section at the resort or you could use a small paddle boat or kayak to get you out there. Any of the non-motorized boats are free. I didn't fish when I was there, however the largest fish that I saw caught from shore was about 6 inches , so I would definitely look off shore.

I envy you! Beautiful fish & pictures.

When I was 50 years younger ,going to Port Stanley to catch smelt was a yearly tradition. Most knights the beach was lit up with bonfires and fishermen decked out in waders would use seine nets to capture smelt. The pier was also open for fishing and folks with dip nets would catch what they wanted. Now there doesn't seem to be any left, some claim the salmon, trout, and walleye ate them all. I do not know why they disappeared but it is sad that my children will never get to experience the smelt run in Lake Erie.

Plain-clothes MNR officers witness illegal fishing
Ralph Field replied to Spiel's topic in Fishing News
The MNR could raise a pile of money for themselves on any of the eastern ditches during the salmon run. -
A good day was had by all.

Another perfect reminder why we love this sport.

Adam makes excellent reels and his latest are really great looking. If your Canadian don't forget that you have to pay duty on the reel if you have it shipped in,I think the duty rate is about. 20%

It's round, has 2 bearings, and spins real nice!
Ralph Field replied to I'mHooked's topic in General Discussion
I would go with 100 yards of dacron backing and then fill it up with mono,I prefer 10 lb for my mainline. The test of your mainline should be at least 4 lb. heavier than your leader (5or 6lb.). Do the fish a favour and never ever use 2 lb. test unless you intend to keep all your fish. Any fish even after careful reviving will die due to the build up of lactic acid in their system after a couple of days if they were fought to exhaustion on 2 lb. test.Rant over. -

I held this reel in a tackle store and for the money I think you made a wise choice. The start up of a CP is the most important feature , but the Raw ll does have both ,which isn't always the case. I think you will be happy with your purchase and that you will be impressed with pinning after you give it a try.
