  1. Too hard to pick one. It really depends on the type of fish that I'm after and the method that I've chosen to use. I love my 6.5 Fenwick(hook setter series) paired with a Diawa SS1300 when fishing live crayfish. This combo certainly wouldn't be my favourite if I was after steelhead.
  2. Your dog looks as good as your photo, both are amazing.
  3. A bobber stop works fine as already mentioned, a nail knot can be used in place of the bobber stop, grass trimmer line cut on an angle can be used in place of the heavy mono cut on an angle. I have the peg its that floatman sells, but I haven't tried them yet. A girl in the US is selling bead pegs that anglers say work better than the peg-its. She charges $5.50 for 50 mailed to Canada. Her contact is( [email protected]). I have been pulling elastics through the bead with a scrap piece of mono and then trimming the elastic.
  4. As already mentioned the petro can deal is one you should look into if your looking to change.
  5. I stayed there in November, but didn't see anyone fishing from shore as it is shallow out to the reef. By the main pool there was a water sports table and they advertised fishing. I think that you are out of luck unless, as previously noted, you can find a boat to take you out. On a side note I would recommend taking your own alarm clock. The wedding group we were with rented 16 rooms and out of those only 2 had clocks that actually worked.
  6. Lake Kissamme is right there and is famous for big bass.
  7. I am an old fart and feeling even older.
  8. I watched every fishing show on television and enjoyed them all. I remember watching the King White fishing show that followed Hockey Night in Canada long before the Red Fisher Show was on television.
  9. Wind hasn't got the tower system that Rogers and Bell have and won't for some time so their service is the pits.
  10. Stem cells can now be extracted from fatty tissue and can be used to help our bodies rebuild damaged areas. Suzzane Sommers is having a breast rebuilt this way after surviving breast cancer. If more people realized that stem cells can be extracted from fat ,perhaps more folks would be willing to donate.
  11. There are varying degrees of arthritis ,Glucosamine is a natural supplement that will help ease the pain. My wife has found she can function normally as long as she takes a pill each day. She buys hers at Costco.
  12. The kicker may come in handy if your big motor malfunctions, as a large boat isn't fun to paddle to shore. As far as fishing goes I've fished out of boats with kickers and out of boats with trolling plates and don't have enough experience with either to make any recommendations. I agree that it is wise as the last poster said to do your homework before making any final decisions.
  13. Amazing! Thanks for posting.
  14. I would like to congratulate you on a job well done and bound to be appreciated by the children.
  15. Another excellent reel to go with the Imperial!
  16. If you go to www.centrepinangling.com you may be able to get the bearings you need although I think that their bearings are better quality and therefore more expensive.
  17. Thanks to you and the others for your efforts.
  18. Since you live in B.C. you may be better off buying from the guy 15 min. away. Certainly the option I gave you is no good because of where you live.
  19. I think that Jos has regular and upgraded streamsides ,with the up graded being equivalent to the Kingpin rods and priced cheaper than the kingpin rods. I would call Anglers Outfitters in Woodstock and see if he still has some in stock.
  20. NO LONGER AVAILABLE!
  21. I invented a wading staff with a rod holder built into it, so one can push the staff into the ground, then put their rod into the holder while they string their rod together. I usually have the staff stuck in the ground near me while fishing so that I can put the rod in the holder while I unbutton the fish. The idea is to keep my reel and rod out of the mud and prevent someone from stepping on my outfit. I tried selling these for a while ,without much success so I traded a bunch of them to angling outfitters for my first pin.
  22. Camera shy I guess!
  23. You could take a kayak from the water sports area and paddle yourself out past the reef and fish there. Resorts only charge you a fee when a motor is involved so the use of the kayak would be free. The rocks in your picture are in shallow water likely 2 to 3 feet deep and not worth your time to fish off of them. If you ask the guys running the dive boats they can tell you what you should use for bait and what you can expect to catch. The listing that you posted for off shore fishing may be good , but as you stated would likely prove to be expensive.
  24. Most resorts will have a water sports department where you can arrange for an off shore fishing excursion . They will take you out past the reef where you can catch fish in the 5 to 10 lb. range. I didn't enquire what they charge but I'm positive that it was no where near $400. It likely would be in the range of $30 an hour.
  25. We past over a few rivers on side trips we took, but the only river we saw anyone fishing in was the Black River and the fish that I saw landed were small. The Black River is on the opposite side of the island.
