  1. Does anybody know how I can get these birds to stop hanging around my lawn? They poop EVERYWHERE.
  2. caught my first brookies there.
  3. I think we'd all like to see it. Matt.
  4. I know you're fly fishing, but, last summer I caught a few brown trout in the humber with mepps #0 and 1 spinners, you might wanna try that sometime
  5. where I live (burlington), worms are about $3-3.50/dozen. I will buy them when I'm in a hurry or don't have any left over from previous trips, but when I have a few minutes to kill I will go and flood a small portion of my backyard with the garden hose. The usual 'haul' is around 2-3 doz., but sometimes I get 5-6. I tend to find that the 'wild' worms are more fat and lively as well, and the trout seem to like them more.
  6. 2nd pic is great, lol.
  7. I figure the belwood fishies dident bite on the weekend because of the 10,000,000 boats and jet skii's going by all day. Maybe guelph would have been better for you guys because of the no gas engines policy, but again I also caught zilch on a 'no engines' lake near my house that weekend. Lesson learned, avoid all conservation areas on may 24 weekend... its the one weekend where everybody thinks they have to go outside and "recreate"...
  8. those vibrax spinners are great- I have about 10 of them ranging from size 0 to 5. on the #2 and 3 I have caught SM, pike, rainbow trout, and brown trout. I find they work great in rivers if you cast them a bit upstream then reel in.
  9. thats what my plan is, drive around and pull off at my potential spots, which I think are little more than ditches. would 4 lb mono on my UL rod work fine or should I be using a flourocarbon leader as well? I've got the stealth thing down pretty well, but not sure how to catch such a tiny fish. small barbless hooks I guess. thanks for the help guys - I'll be sure to put a report up (with no scenery pics) when I get into them.
  10. believe me, I'm working overtime to find the brookies, lol.. I have an obsession with stream trout, but I have yet to find them in halton. The rest of my day (after I finished my yard work) involved looking at topo maps and such of the halton area. I have a few spots that I'm gonna give a go this week.
  11. Looks like a brookie to me.
  12. I have a little 1.5 or 2" rapala popper lure, I have caught just about everything on it. LM, SM, hammerhandle pike, even a few crappies! it was about $8 but well worth it in my books. I would really recommend you get something similar. oh yea I have also caught a rainbow trout on it.
  13. thanks, I went out today to kelso lake, but as I was driving down the entrance down the car ahead of me slowed them stopped... I was faced with about 1km of backed up cars waiting to get in. I turned around and retreated to my other spot in that general vicinity and just ended up catching a bunch of panfish and 1 OOS bass. Way to many people out today so I'm gonna try renting a kayak at kelso tomorrow morning.
  14. change of plans, can't get the car until 9:30 so I'm gonna try for a mixed bag of species at a local lake then scout out some tribs. I'm hoping to catch my first brook trout this year! Wish me luck!!
  15. Hey all, I have the day off tomorrow and was looking to go to either to guelph or belwood lake. I don't have a boat right now, but belwood would probably be a mess this weekend anyhow. I am looking to catch anything really, (pike, walleye, crappie, etc.) Where would you go?? P.S. any other suggustions are welcome
  16. that is really creepy fish
  17. when I was little (11 or 12) my uncle used to take me fishing for pike every so often. I remember him bringing a small box with 'feeder mice' from the pet store as well as your average minnows. I think it is fine to use, I have used live mice and frogs before with fantastic results. toss them out weightless and just let them swim around. I don't see it any different than cutting a worm up and putting it on a hook. I guess it really is personal preference, if you don't feel that putting animals on a hook is good they make some great mouse and frog imitators now too!
  18. 1. largemouth bass 2. northern pike 3. rainbow trout 4. brown trout 5. black crappie 6. yellow perch 7. bluegill 8. pumpkinseed 9. rock bass 10. white perch 11. bullhead catfish 12. common carp 13. bowfin i want to catch this year: 1. my first muskie 2. 36+" northern pike 3. 12+" brook trout
  19. this frustrates me beyond belief. Would it be even better to call the local police? that pic above really ticks me off as well... look at the rainbow trout, chances are he was netted or something or at very least caught with a regular fishing license. It's one thing to see someone take an OOS bass or keep a few extra perch over their limit... but this kinda thing has to be just horrible on our fisheries...
  20. HAHAHA I have to start doing that!!!
  21. go pick up the regs, they're free... belwwod lake is zone 16. walleye and pike are OOS right now. edit: and it is illigal to target any OOS fish regardless if you release them or not.
  22. i caught an 20"er not too long ago on nipissing
  23. my friends dad sometimes drives us to the pier in his 911 carrera 4S
  24. bluegills like them.
