Walleye and Pike input on location please.
woodenboater replied to wvmedic's topic in General Discussion
^^^^ and I might add, pretty well most of the French River If you hit the Lower French (literally and figuratively), understand that it's a provincial park as well so there will be camping fees per person / per night. This will add up. -
hope the Legion had a good turn out and a good amount was raised ! now about the MNR, it seems they just can't win, they're either too lax or too tight. I wouldn't he bothered by them showing up at a tourney and actually would probably welcome it. if they were smart, they would have had a set up to fly the flag and do some public ed. have spent time around police dogs and while they were working, they weren't the most social of dogs

Cool video and that ice looked gorgeous. oh, and beauty laker…I'd be doing my happy dance all day after pulling this baby out of the water

Wasn't a mistake on dude's part, he knew full well what he was doing and considering he already had a visit, well that's just a dumb risk taker. My guess is, his lodge and customers will be receiving extra attention on the water from Minnie DNR from this day forward. While people may flock to his lodge, sorry I'd be skipping that place precisely because of this act. Selfish.

Ouch! Propane Heating Cost in the Kawartha's
woodenboater replied to manjo39's topic in General Discussion
If I was heating primarily with wood (which we may do when we retire up north) I'd be looking at one of these processors. Bit spendy but beats bucking and splitting in separate stages. LIke smitty55, get a load of logs and yer off to the races. http://www.blackscreek.ca/?page_id=144 -
True but I think it's a matter of time and bureaucratic paperwork. It will happen imo. btw, there are canoe routes through the lakes area and it's beautiful country as is all all of northern ont . I was hoping to get a map of the place but no luck. yet http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ontario-proposal-would-let-scientists-resume-experimental-lakes-area-work/article16421808/#dashboard/follows/

Storm is on the way--Are you ready for it???
woodenboater replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
been hearing thunder. sounds like it's taking a break but forecast is hellacious starting at midnight or so. -
Still interfered with a breakaway so very bad luck for the American team.

Storm is on the way--Are you ready for it???
woodenboater replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
building my ark as we speak but cleared the storm drain outside and tried to clear out pathway for runoff to go so as not to pool. not sure if that's in vain -
if you're talking about that breakaway penalty, that should have been a penalty shot but it worked out with the cross check. that ended up as a 4 on 3, not a 5 on 3 btw

that's a great clip…"WHAT ?! WHAT ?!" I was watching tail end on my laptop in a Starbucks and I think I made people move away from me when she snapped off the winner lol

If I had one of these, and it sounds odd but I'd travel with a Honda 1000i generator if I was going to be gone any distance. Still *IF* it can go 200 kms on a charge, that'd be waaay more than I could ever need. I see it as a workhorse vs fun machine. Would make a great xc track setter

If the battery can last and it's not too expensive, would be great to have one for blasting around. Fitting into the back of a van would be huge bonus A guard/flap at the back would be good to prevent chipped teeth lol

Thing with a wood stove is if you have a decent sized wood lot, there's your fuel there. Gas, bar oil and new chains and some sweat equity and it's basically free Would love to install an efficient wood stove for our home in the big smoke but only if the insurance company isn't going to grab me by the short and curlys lol.
-
curious, just how badly will insurance companies nail people who want to install wood stoves that pass WETT inspections ?

Still not cutting the driver any slack. Passing a snowplow on an uphill grade ? who the HECK does that ? It'd be solid yellow (white ?) if you could see the blacktop. Driver is an idiot
-
saw that on FB, other trucker should have his license pulled forever and have to volunteer at the coroner's office. passing a snowplow. on a grade. on a 2 laner. absolutely baffling.

Camera batteries - money saving tip
woodenboater replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
I'd be worried about poor build leading to circuit fry age or worse. As lookingforwalleye says, why spend a good amount of hard earned money on a camera to cheap out on batteries ? Same with memory cards ymmv -
My wife tested at a facility in Malton and I was floored. She's a fine driver (Australian who drove all over the world, left and right wheels)) but the testing there…well I just shake my head. f I recall correctly, it was a closed system of roads etc.. She did have to hit Airport Rd and real traffic as part of her exam but to test in a closed loop with no real traffic and distractions is just baffling and explains much. Not sure if this place is still open but it should be shut down. Learn on real roads in real traffic, test on real roads in real traffic.

no offense intended wayne. just experience while driving in the gta was aimed at those who drive excessive speeds for conditions (like driving beyond your headlights) and using while driving with low viz. always thought using them while parked was sop if one didn't have flares. I'll need to revisit this practice
