imo, dude is only stepping away to avoid having to deal with questions about the new video and the comments he made that were in the audio tape the sun posted. he ran the gamut but saying what he did about Stintz was pretty low. His slur against Italians was also beyond the pale. he's also going to have to talk about the report about the security guards and St. Paddys Day. and if he thinks he can come clean in one, ONE, month, well I have a bridge Deco can buy. the addictions are a manifestation of deeper problems. deep enough that they will require ongoing help and jumping back into the piranha pool will just trigger the problems again.

If you get another iPhone, you can also set it to that the you can use text passwords instead of four digits. but yeah, enable screen freeze after X minutes and backup as often as you can.

Loved Benavidez's guillotine and Elliot pounding the matt with his feet since his arms were locked up and couldn't tap.

What were they thinking ? No matter how they spin it, they were chasing a moose and lead rider got very close. Could have turned out very bad for the sledders. Why they chose to follow vs stop and cut the engine and let moose go on ahead is beyond me. One rule I try to follow is never expect wildlife to do anything predictable.

I'd go with steel as well and am thinking I'll need to do our home in the next little while. Question I have is can they install steel on gambrel style roofs or does it it need straight run ?

Looking for advice on buying a bike (NF)
woodenboater replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
As others have brought up, unless you intend to ride dirt, I'd avoid a mtn bike and the associated knobbies. A good road bike with proper tires will be better suited for exercise and enjoyment. Another fork will be whether you want something more relaxed (upright) posture or aggressive. Test ride as many bikes as you can before dropping your $500 I have a Miyata mtn bike but ride it with Tioga slicks in the city. The knobbies were just too slow and noisy and pretty uncomfortable on asphalt. On trails, yeah, they earn their keep. Not sure about shocks as the only people I know that ride them are the friends who are hard core downhill riders. I would think they'd be too mushy for city riding. ymmv One thing you might want to consider as well is getting an exercise bike for indoor use all year. I have a recumbent but would like to spend more and get one with finer adjustments but it's low priority. -
Has anyone fished these lakes or lodges?

just mind the rocks also look out for eagles (nest) that were in the bay east of Crane's -
Off grid to me means no attachment to any municipal services so propane powered fridges/gennys etc are fine. I'd also invest in a small wind turbine if the property had enough consistent breeze to make it worthwhile. and possibly geothermal.

Found this Kickstarter project today. Very interesting idea and would like to see it go into production as it would be extremely useful at the cabin during winter. Like many concepts, scaling up could lead to wonderful innovations. I'm pondering ponying up.

Well the auto manufacturers have deemed diesel in SUV vehicles as a 'luxury market' item ffs. Would love to stick it to them for not giving us affordable diesel truck/SUV options. Wife and I want a diesel Jeep but not at their prices and most people I know say VW or Benz are better diesel options over domestics.

I believe we need to invest in cleaner technology because that's the path we will need to be on eventually but the wind industry is being held back by their lack of movement beyond the traditional windmill concept. They could alleviate some of their probs (birds, pressure, sound etc) by employing double helix turbine technology. It presents a constant shadow so birds are less likely to be diced and there's no pressure waves from spinning blades. I'd pick nuclear over hydro for the sake of rivers, lakes etc but I don't know why we couldn't build smaller scale plants vs huge operations. One concept I've read about that uses green tech is not to store power in batteries but to store the potential energy (think massive air compressors for example) that can be released during demand periods. This would solve several problems that solar and wind have to deal with currently. That we have to wean ourselves off dino is a given, how we do that and how serious we are about it is the question that needs to be answered.

and I thought 125.9 for regular was a bargain along Gasoline Alley. Of course, was 139.9 in GTA so can't complain

Tracker Tundra - Legal Advice is Appreciated
woodenboater replied to young_one's topic in General Discussion
I'd be seriously looking into salvage fees into raising your boat at this point. If it turns out there was a boat issue, then you may very well recover the cost as well as have peace of mind. I'm not in insurance but it sounds like it's 'he said-she said' situation, at least until someone can survey the boat's structural soundness. I also guess asking very pointed questions will be needed when you get insurance on your next boat. Good luck and make sure you have a lot of 8's in your reg number -
Tracker Tundra - Legal Advice is Appreciated
woodenboater replied to young_one's topic in General Discussion
I fear this will be the out Tracker needs to get off, of course, I know nothing of the circumstances and whether or not this was a warranty killer. how deep is the water where your boat went down ? seems like it *should* be a simple matter to raise the boat. hope things work out. fwiw, if an island with a safe leeward side was in sight, I'd probably take my chances pounding the hull making for that and waiting it out. -
I think Wynne was win a no win situation here. Derail the appointment and she'd be accused of meddling in the board's affairs, do nothing and she gets hammered regardless. I think there are bigger issues to worry about and this is small fish tbh. think life will be better under howath or hudak ? please…. all people can do is make sure she's aware that a fire is lit under her and anything untoward and she's golfing.
-
actually, from what I've read, Wynne had nothing to do with the appointment. The board of directors at eHealth appointed him to the *interim* position until they find a new head. So while the optics aren't that great, I'm not going to lynch Wynne over this one. She was arms length from what I can see. Blame the board but I guess since it's an interim position, they probably wanted someone who knew the lay of the land. ymmv

Any thoughts on Canadian Health Care System?
woodenboater replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Thank you Drew, it's important to hear first hand accounts of ER and how things can cascade. I've never complained while waiting with family in ER, other than what's on tv. Sister was an RN at East General so heard enough. Front line hospital staff do need to be paid better and to have our greatest respect. -
