  1. I've always liked Crankin Raps for pike and walleye (and white spinner baits). Know people who love burning spinner baits over vegetation for pike.
  2. I'd just use a regular maul with splitting cheeks. or put it in the fire pit or banked in the stove for the overnight burn
  3. I'd grab that like quick !
  4. thanks Cliff. It's planted at my cabin and I don't get up there as often as I'd like so that may be contributing to the problem. Will try again next spring. Would love to get some established so it can hang around for the next 20 years or so
  5. sorry to hijack Chad's thread but a ?? for Cliff, a raised bed for asparagus ? I planted some in a dug row this year and nothing. They were 1 year crowns and I should have had some shoots come up but nada. Any idea what I did wrong ? Got the crowns at evergreen brickworks if that makes a diff. Next time I'm buying 3 year crowns if I can find them. tia and your place is coming along nicely Chad. I can see canning for days on end in your near future lol.
  6. have a great time and hope you get into lots of pike and bass....and I guess some pickereyes as well lol. and pics, you know we just LURV pics here ha ha
  7. folding Spyderco (mine is sheep's foot).
  8. I wonder if the store set up is dictated by corporate ? Would make sense to let the market and area needs have an influence on floor layout and stock. Also plan to go there this weekend on way up to cabin so hope I'm not in for a big letdown
  9. Haven't been on the French this year but I'm guessing it's slow because the water was stupid high in the spring and vegetation growth is behind schedule. I would still go there in Aug, bass and pike should be good.
  10. wow. Flew into Yellowknife from Inuvik last week and it wasn't anything like this. Hazy but not bad, could smell it. Hope they can finally knock it down but those pipe cleaners light up fast so their work is cut out for them.
  11. great outcome and this is a company that understands marketing. For the cost of a pair of binos, they now have a customer for life who will now recommend bushnells to everyone who asks. Why more companies don't make this SOP is beyond me. and I also have a pair of Bushnells that are going on who knows how many years !
  12. great photos and report !
  13. man what a great read Chad ! killer photos and those pike are calling my name lol
  14. I think it should be clarified that the sketchy dude was the husband of the long time friend. So is it worth mentioning to your friend that her husband has what appears to be your rod set up ? I'd let it go and never deal with him again and just stick to her friendship and hopefully she'll understand why you don't want to see her husband. ever.
  15. what DanD said. and don't go fishing them them again. but I'd be tempted to suggest this looks like the combo you thought you lost and see how they react and take that as your lead.
  16. almost make you wanna haul up a bunch of 2 x's to rebuild the floor.
  17. I'd go to ER asap if it were me. but yeah, elevate and ice it. while it may be a break, you may also have done some ligament damage. just to reiterate cuz I think it warrants it, go to ER tonight. and on a lighter note, great sandal tan )))
  18. yup, gorgeous scenery and sunsets always makes up for slow bite. and btw, are you and your brother keeping a running tally
  19. I bet you're going to miss sleeping under canvas TJ. a solid roof has it's advantages however
  20. pm sent Roy for those interested, this is from Lakair's webpage… http://www.lakair.com/lake-nipissing-maps.asp >
  21. will have to check my map but pretty sure they have depths for waters west of 64. -just checked and yup, contours going past Monetville Arm to the Cut and beyond. Reminds me I should buy another copy and laminate it for the wall, other one is a folded up mess
  22. This is super close to Leaside but it's only 9 holes. Never golfed there but have walked it and it's not bad for something central. http://www.flemingdonparkgolfclub.com
  23. Nice days there Brian. I hear you about flinging large flies for pike. Maybe try some wooly buggers next time, I found bass and pike like them and they're much easier to cast. I found short quick strips usually gets their attention
  24. Great report and photos Joey ! man, the docks at Lakair must been nuts during the 2/4 ! or totally submerged
