and another vote for Totem Point if you're visiting that part of the French. Lots of long time repeaters, cottages are nice ( love #10). Sylvia is great to deal with and the gazebo off the games room is great place to wind down the day.

I initially thought a passenger was taking the video but when I realized she was the one, I was dumbstruck. She's obviously not paying full attention to her driving and damn lucky she didn't cause a more serious accident. If I get stuck behind a piehole like this, there's nothing you can do but fall back and pop the hi beams once in awhile. Very frustrating and I understand why dude did what he did and I actually feel a bit sorry for him tbh. Maybe not the finger however. She could have pulled over easily as dude was able to pull over and pass her. Then you have this kind of driver who obviously shouldn't have a license to operate a motor vehicle. Very funny.

We went variable and lucked into long term low rates. If you're risk averse, variable may not be your thing but it's probably something to consider regardless. Unless you only plan to fish skinny water in very calm conditions, I would probably just sail past jon boats. If you have to hustle in bad weather, the jon boat is going to take a pounding as it slams every wave on the way back to the dock. V's will cut though chop better = more comfortable ride. and agree with some others, if you're thinking of a 12 or 14 footer, I'd look in Ontario as any US savings will probably be eaten up by the drive to get the boat.

While I love most PPs, you have to remember that not all maintenance/cleaning staff is the same across the board. Which means that while there will be comfort stations, the potential exists they could be pretty scary if not cleaned well. She may want to avoid the outhouses as well Unless you're dead set on provincial park camping, I would research private campgrounds as well. They tend to be tighter re:noise and other disturbances, which may or may not enhance your experience, depending on what you guys want to do while camping.

If you can do something besides a provincial park, I'd suggest Lakair for camping. Very quiet, beautiful water (although no real beach). great owners and good walleye, pike and bass fishing. Primitive and electrical sites. Outhouse or flush with showers. Depending on your campsite, even wifi and if you don't mind bunking together, the wall tent rocks. Not too far from Sudbury or North Bay if you need a break. Missed going last year so plan to make up for it this year.

If this is going to be a dedicated fishing machine, I think I'd go with a kayak. Those things can be tricked out with everything for a day on the water. I'm a canoeist so that's where my loyalty lies but not as easy to set up with graphs, holders etc.. Get a dolly for the 'yak and you can portage with relative ease. Gonna be a noisy weekend. Virtually no privacy at all between campsites so you'll be staring at your campfire and as well as everyone else's. Honestly, if I was going to haul a tinny up there, I'd keep it on the trailer and take it to Opeongo or some other lake for the day.

Wondering about the relationship between commercial harvesting and the decline in walleye population. How long have the NFN been harvesting and when did walleye stock start dropping ? Trying to see what direct co-relation there is (hard numbers, not anecdotal for now). Also how much effect has the cormorant population had since that seems to be exploding ? Controlling the bird population would seem like the obvious first step to see if that makes any difference.

I wonder if they should not have put all their eggs into one basket, if you will. Instead of heavily promoting Nip as a great walleye destination, they should also be promoting other species as well like pike and bass. I've never fished the main body of water but presume if the West Arm has them, the big lake should as well. I fish for pike and bass primarily but won't turn my nose up if moon eyes are on the radar Do walleye fishermen look down on other species ? Honest question. -and imo, pike taste just as nice if not better than wallies

Sounds like what happened in Toronto a few years back. A local yoga studio rallied the neighbourhood (Queen West=trendy, hipster, cool crowd) to fight a proposed Tim Hortons because it didn't fit the character or some kind of Bull. They won. Still bugs me and I don't even live near there. Regardless, I think in this case, the proposed financial benefits are probably exaggerated to some extent imo. Why plunk this down in a beautiful part of southern Ont when there are plenty of other options available ?

I think the answer that wasn't forthcoming was "why there ?" To plunk it down in cottage country (allow me to use that term for this discussion) when there's sooo much land in the province, doesn't make sense no matter how you slice it. There has to be another reason which they don't want to disclose.
