  1. Hi all! Am heading up to angus lake in temagami this Saturday with a friend for the week. Just wondering if anyone has fished the lake before and what to expect. The limited info i found is that the lake holds walleye, pike and smallies although smaller fish. Looking at the map, it doesn't have any islands, mostly points and small bays to fish. Anyone know of any drop offs or bottom structure that we may want to fish? We are bringing two young lads and hope to put them on fish and possibly trigger an interest in the sport. Thanks in advance Bill
  2. Wow! That's a great report! Suddenly my lakers from Algonquin seem like minnows lol. Great pics as well. Well done!
  3. Now I'm not exactly sure the amount of netting that happens on nip, however, I have a, and I use this term loosely "family member" living in deseronto. This person lives on the reserve and says that his buddies net on quinte. They use a 400 foot net that entangles up to 2000 fish at a time, not all walleye mind you, but most fish rot before being harvested for their flesh AND THESE GUYS ARE SMALL TIME "FISHERMEN". I have no idea how any fishery can survive given the pressure from both sides. Bill
  4. As always mike you never disappoint!!! For you to say this was your best fly in ever speaks for itself. I've been following your trips via your reports and I must say you're living the dream! Congrats to you and your family on an epic adventure! Hope to have an opportunity in the near future to visit north caribou myself. Again thanks for the report and pics! Bill
  5. Most of the campgrounds along highway 60 will be pretty busy through august from my experience. I found the lake at cannisbay, lake of two rivers and rock lake to be a tough go during the summer. Lots to do though, plenty of hiking trails and I highly recommend the public wolf howl!
  6. Start with some Pink Floyd then into some Tool. I find they balance me out. When one slows me down the other gets me going lol! Ad vice verse of course
  7. Those are giants! I'm fishing Erie and niagara river and my biggest around 4lbs. But they're nothing compared to some of those beauties!!
  8. Just a thought, coconut oil is nautral and we've used it on our daughters and our own skin with great results. Also read it works well on poison ivy but have no first hand experience with that.
  9. Dumped in algonquin couple years ago at ice out. Planned on fishing lakers for the week but lost all tackle except the rods rigged with spoons. Later that day my buddy got snagged while drifting and pulled the rod down to the depths lol. What can ya do?!
  10. Cool thanks again for the input. I'll post my recap of next week. Thanks again
  11. Unfortunately our boys just haven't been able to grow as the rest of the world. At one point in time we were the team to beat but now we are just as good as the Europeans. Lets face it we have great hockey players but our years of sending big strong teams are coming to the end. Hockey Canada needs to start to develops a faster skill based team. I love our juniors but the world is catching up!!!! Be safe Bill Ps good on the Finns!! They deserved it this year
  12. Awesome! Thanks guys. I usually use 4 and 6lb line... Too light?
  13. Hey All! I am on my way up to nip next week and was wondering if any of u target ling? I've been hearing good things in terms if size and eating ling. what's the best way to fish for them? Or are they something one doesn't target but hits them while jigging for walleye? Thanks in advance... Bill P.s. Looks like another disappointing world jrs.
  14. Nice!! I've been toying with launching in lake o next year. I fish exclusively Lake Erie and miss out on the salmon and trout. Sounds like u had a great day...congrats!!
  15. A buddy's wife works for TRCA and she tells me every spring to fish the mouth of the Humber cause there are a lot of walleye in the area!! Good news!
  16. Similar things happening on Lake Erie!! Like theres not enough room for everyone out there lol? No respect for anyone out there. Guys trolling across others lines all the time. It's sad. I intentionally stay away from the group of boats crossing each other and am happy with what few fish I catch. Sorry to hear it man
  17. Great report. Was looking into the camp myself for the ms. and I and this report helped me out a lot! Thanks for posting! Bill
  18. Never thought he'd go down!! Gsp is next, hasn't looked overly impressive in his last few fights.
  19. Hey all!! Myself and the ms. are driving out to Winnipeg at the end of the month and are looking for some clean accomodations that aren't gojng to break us. We are operating on a tight budget and with the ms being 7 months pregnant camping isn't an option. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I've yet to do this drive thru nw ontario and am not familiar with the route. We will be leaving the gta, taking 400 north to 17. Also if anyone knows of decent fishing from shore en route that would be great. Thanks in advance Bill
