With a second look at the pic I don't think it's an odd ball doe. It doesn't have a really slender neck of a doe and at this time of year the necks of the bucks swell. That one looks far too beefy(venisony? lol) to be a doe. Also, look at how dark the tarsal gland is on the inside of the back leg at the knee. During the rut this gland get quite dark and smelly from the oil it extracts. A buck will urinate down it legs and over this gland to freshen breeding scrapes within it's territory. Still, I wish I had a backyard like yours!!

You sure get some great picture Lew. That deer is either a first year button or a doe (yes, it's not common but does can get small spikes) The mature bucks will have fully developed antlers at this time of year. An eight point buck we see in November looked like that in August.

I think that in today's NHL the answer is somewhere between a small highly skilled team and one with enforcers. Look at the Jets, lots of speed and skill but can also elevate the level of physicality enough to throw teams off their game. You don't dipsy doodle around with the puck when playing the Jets....Matthews will tell ya. They're a big enough team that the old school style of simply finishing your checks will tilt the ice in your favor. And if someone does happen to get courageous, Big Buf is there to settle them down. I'm well aware the Leafs beat them but I don't believe for a second that if it were playoff hockey they'd play us the same way and we'd necessarily just be able to outscore them. So I don't think the Leafs need a one dimensional enforcer, they need a Dman or two that will punish the other team's forwards and give our forwards a little more time and space.

Or, maybe he's doing it right and has his own opinion? We all don't fish the same fish the same way. To each his own.

We'll let the perch, crappie, bluegill, etc. panfish crowd know they're wasting their time.

Here's hoping but you see it all the time...the "star" goes out, the team rallies to fill the gap, and their performance actually picks up instead of drops.
