Need Help finding calmer water on Lake Erie
grimsbylander replied to GaraldT's topic in General Discussion
You should include what kind of boat/size/power you and the kids will be in. Helps to define "calm" on Erie. -
Would take a braver man to put that above the knee.
-
What's the make of your boat? I might be able to help you out.
-
Idiots. "Is the engine still running???" NO kill switch!! Wakum life jackets designed for 23mph wakeboarders!! Boat blewout 20 times before??? And he didn't think changing the setup was a good idea?? Pair a freakin MORONS. Oh, hi everyone. ?

David, anything special I need to do if renewing a Platinum card? -
Nope!! I'd even rather stand on a frozen lake than work! lol But we do what we have to do.

That's my goal! Kill it now when the boats under a tarp and hopefully enjoy more of the upcoming summer...er...real season! lol

Hey boys...the new job is consuming my life as any new job would. Just wanted to say hello! I've been reading through some of the threads but no time to pitch in so here's my Cole's notes version!! 1) Nylander is playing like a bag of pudding. Rip that jersey off him and give it to a Marlie. 2) If the concussion isn't giving Sparks a headache, Hutchinson is. Good on him! Clutchison for the win!! 3) Chris, your brother's speck was freaking gorgeous. You two look alike...you could have said it was yours! lol 4) That spruced up old ranger is a beauty! I am partial to old ranger though.... ;) 5) Good luck to all the ice fisherman in the group this season! Stay safe!!! 6) Happy New Year folks! Dave

This is fantastic. Maybe guys that know hockey know how long it takes to get back into the game at the NHL level. -

Did anyone else listen to the three crackpots on Sportsnet after the Tampa game?? They were saying that Tampa demonstrated why they’re the dominant team in the league and now Toronto knows what they need to do to get better. Did they watch the dang game?? Shots were what, 49-23 or something?? Even on the Tampa forums they were saying how badly they were being outplayed. These guys are brutal. As for Kapanen, I really like that kid and would hate to see him go. I too would consider Nylander first if for no other reason than his perceived value. We would get a lot more back for him. What is Gauthier doing in the NHL? The guy is a giant and his jersey hasn’t made contact with another team all year. Frederic Copperfield... the guys invisible. -

I think he'll be traded as well. -
Thanks Johnny! You know I'm talking about when I say it was tough. I think it's the whole "old dog, new tricks" issue! lol

If there's one thing the brass has shown, it's they know what they're doing. The cap is going up next year and I'm sure they've done their calculations. -
Thank you very much! That's the message I want my kids to see too. There's some great advice! Thanks Capt!!

Sure doesn't sound like it! I'd go for a 8' rod for sure. You'll appreciate the extra leverage because it sounds like you're doing it right...you're not fishing the fringes, you're getting back in the really thick stuff!
-
Thanks Brian! Sounds like we're in the same "boat" lol I'm hoping that keeping busy longer will help keep me on this side of the daisies! You're one of those guys I envy! lol As long as I can find some balance in my life from here on out I'll be happy. Thanks for the well wishes. Yes its been tough. The good parts was I didn't know just how hard it all would be or I admit, I don't think I would have taken it all on. Thanks again Spincast. Good for you! Truthfully, I'd retire today if I could. I think I would still find enough things to keep me busy and fishing would be right up there. Thanks CPH!

Nylander is coming back! $6.9-mil for 6 years! -
Mike, things to consider here go beyond the jig weight. Consider your height and the gunnel height of your boat. It can be tough to manage a proper flip with too long a rod if the gunnel is up to your knees lol There are definitely advantages for leverage and getting into those nooks and crannies where the monsters hide but there's nothing more frustrating than the bird's nest after 1.5 ounces hammers the inside gunnel. Just some food for thought.

Well, 10 minutes ago I submitted my last assignment for my last university course. I figured if continuous improvement was good for companies, it's good for the people that work for them too. So at the ripe old age of 54, I hope before the end of 2018 I'll be able to apply to graduate for a university diploma. I can't believe how hard it was working full time, helping my wife deal with 2 different cancers in 3 years and go to school. I'm exhausted thinking about it. I think I fished under 10 times in the last two years...I used to get out that many times every month. Over and done. Last month I also pursued a new position to manage a Canadian sales team and landed the job...I start Monday morning. I must be absolutely out of my mind. I know guys my age planning early retirement and I'm acting like a 30 year old. Oh well, I've lived vicariously through you guys for 24+ months now...hopefully I can start contributing.

I can't stand Boston but ever hear their announcer?? The guys is hilarious! A complete HOMER! lol -
We can't have it both ways folks. We can clamp down on imports by imposing tariffs and level the playing field against offshore competitors, or try to compete and watch the economy dwindle. This thing with GM isnt new and it's not the last company that will pull out. As long as we continue to demand $400 50" TV's, dollar stores check full of cheap chinese junk, and maintain a price before quality mentality, WE will drive businesses offshore. The dude above holding the sign, where do you think his friggin wife shops??? Was he out holding a sign when the Oshawa Sears store closed?? Its all Bull, sorry. We can't have one set of economic rules that support high paying union jobs for a select few and a wide open trade economy for the masses. And before anyone drops the "I'll pay $3000 for a TV if it means more jobs", you won't. Look around your house and think about everything that was imported. Now imagine a 2x or 3x price increase on those items. The only way out of this mess is to slowly limit imports to encourage local manufacturing and generate jobs; while incurring moderate price increases only. The Have-nots will love it, and the Haves will scream. And since they both get a vote and currently there's way more Haves in this country, the politician that tries that will be history. I know which way I'd vote.
