  1. Yeah good trade...so you're a San Jose fan now???
  2. Yes it is too bad. The "it could never happen to me" way if thinking evaporates quickly when it happens to someone else that you never thought it could happen to.
  3. Every circumstance is different, true, but regardless of the level of protection it provides it's more that an auto-inflate which has zero padding. I talked to a guy that got knocked into the water at speed and almost drowned wearing an auto-inflate that didn't inflate. He said the worse part was the impact broke his ribs and he could hardly breath or move his arms. He now wears a fully padded vest while running at speed. No telling how much if any the vest could have protected his chest but it couldn't be worse. They're not super comfortable for nothing. To each their own but learning from other people's situations makes good sense.
  4. In your case would do the exact same.
  5. Now I wish YOU were the GM for the Sens...here's the plan, get rid of all the good players for less than their value, ice a team of nobody's, and we'll build the team around a fantastic, brand new puck bag!!! woo hoo!! And just how will they EVER pay for good replacement players when that can't sell dang tickets with the team was winning and Karlsson was ON the ice??? Bye Bye Sens!!
  6. I guess when your star player is publicly begging to leave it undermines the leverage of the organization. That and they're idiots.
  7. Truth: Auto-inflate life jackets are NOT 100% guaranteed to inflate. If you want that kind of guarantee, you have to wear a standard foam type PFD. What they are is a really good alternative to not wearing any PFD while fishing. While running your boat at speed, they're not a good substitute for a standard PFD. If anything happens while running at speed, there is much high chance of entering the water with an injury and the jacket may not inflate. Also, a standard jacket provides some level of protection to your body should you hit something. I have a standard jacket that remains attached to my kill switch and I have my auto-inflate for when I stop the boat to fish.
  8. Ottawa is going to make big money this year....they're going film their season as a reality show.
  9. ^^^^ Actually, all summer I was thinking we'd hear they traded him in a package for a defensemen. Not sure who...just thought he'd be the obvious choice.
  10. Good video. The Champ 210 is a beast too. Front deck like an aircraft carrier.
  11. Ok it's not for everyone but one man's gimmick is another man's prize. I'm sure there's people out there that love their PWC for recreation, like to wet a line a few times a year and have limited space and towing capacity so this is all they need. Not for everyone but it's for someone. If they lost the cooler thing and put a back-facing seat, then added a little bracket for a hand operated 12V troller, it would tick a lot of boxes for a young demographic who like to fish and then go rip around with his pals. I don't see a lot of 50+ years olds that fish 30+ times a year buying them, so I'm out. lol
  12. Another great video sir and your write up on the money. I found myself watching the dog and his reaction instead of the fish! lol
  13. Meh, a real man would lip 'em.
  14. There's no reasoning for this. Just a young, out-going guy taken away from life and his family too damn quickly. RIP and prayers to the family.

  16. I'm with you...had mine for years and after a while, you don't notice you're wearing it. I wear my regular PFD while running the outboard and then switch to the auto when fishing.
  17. Might help to clarify...these trolling motors that have Spot Lock and the ability to follow contours and bearings have become very popular. These features don't need to be designed into the units, they already exist. Even I will be picking up an Ultrex next spring($$$). The issue is, if you fall over, the boat just keeps on going. Obviously, having a PFD on is great and could save your life but, I want the damn boat to stop! lol Ohio, you know this as well as anyone, if you're out on Erie in 60deg water and your boat motors away, you still have major problems. I think the features are fantastic but think if it's possible to add a safety feature that locks the boat's position, why not? Though I don't see how, I would want something like that on a gasser too if I was out trolling around by myself on big water. So I see the PFD as an everytime piece of equipment and an option based on how a person fishes. I wear my auto inflate everytime I fish and the motor stops when my foot leaves the pedal.
  18. Does your son happen to sleep under his desk all day?? Oops wrong episode lol Good information, thanks!
  19. You are correct. I certainly cannot link anything that happened over the weekend with having a fail safe on a trolling motor.
  20. No. I don't know why you'd have both running anyway. It would just help if you were using the trolling motor (with constant on or contour mode) and were separated from the boat. Running your gas motor and getting separated is a different problem completely. This is where a tethered kill cord is required.
  21. FYI, Nothing ventured right? I emailed Minn Kota with the suggestion of having the head unit ping the remote and enter Spot Lock if the signal is interrupted. I referenced the recent tragedy on lake O with Kevin Wong. I also mentioned that a boat in spot lock also tells rescue personnel exactly where the boater entered the water. I'm sure this would help Kevin's case as well. I don't expect to hear back but it's worth mentioning.
  22. Thanks Terry! Should have went with pickerel dang.
  23. If you stick around long enough, you'll see the humour is that
  24. You would think with all the technology that's in the new motors, ie Ultrex, they could add a step one simple safety feature. How about if the head unit loses connection to the remote, it automatically enters Spot Lock? Doesn't make sense the motor just powers off into the sunset regardless of the location of the remote?
