Three loud knocks, then silence. Repeat.

Before we jump to conclusions with the sasquatch theory, let me first find out if my Mother-in-law has ever been to Timmins. -
Blackberry's are good but it's hard to beat an iphone. It's the versatility of having the business options such as email, skype, maps/gps along with the entertainment stuff...music, movies/netflix and a million other apps. Pair it up with an Otter Box like Dan suggested and you're set. Our company has actually switched from Blackberry to iphone as our corporate phone. I'm due for an upgrade and can't decide if I should wait for the iphone 5! Hmmmmm

Looks like a 5 lb smile on your face!!!! Congrats bud that's a fish any of us would be proud of!

Orr Lake, Elmvale (north of Barrie) - Report
grimsbylander replied to rhymobot's topic in General Discussion
If you can get out to the standing pencil weed or the submerged weed beds in the south east corner, you'll do better. Can you get in there with a full size bass boat? -
Little Lake is a fun lake to fish and there are some monster largies in that lake. Fish it late fall...September/October and you'll see. Dark colour plastics, large willow leaf spinnerbaits. And listen to Irishfield...don't eat any fish.

Thanks Scugog...I guess I should have mentioned I bought the boat in the States and therefore it has no prior registration. I'm out of luck I guess. It's still worth it considering what I saved. Thanks!

Importing used outboard from Michigan
grimsbylander replied to RangerGuy's topic in General Discussion
Depending on where you bought it in the States, it can be a double hit. If you purchased it from a dealer, you'll pay the state tax and when you declare it at Customs, you'll pay HST. They both want their tax and neither one cares you're paying twice! Just did it on the weekend. -
Well it appears that last November the way you license a boat changed. Instead of going to your local Service Canada office and coming out 15 minutes later with a boat license, you now have to send the info to New Brunswick and wait for them to send it back. I spoke to a woman there today and she said they're very busy and cannot maintain the 5 day turnaround times which are posted on their website. Most likely 2 weeks!! Oh and make sure you don't use the boat...nice. Anyone know a workaround for this?

This is great! Tonight I leave for Pennsylvania to pick up a boat I'm buying and I get to read trailering horrors! LOL I'll be the guy with white knuckles and bulging eyes doing 15kph along I90 north!

5/16 stainless bolts, lock washers, ny-lock nuts and blue Locktight....what? you unhook your boat after ice-out???

Singling out players for how they play, or don't play, is a difficult thing. It's the mix of skills that make a team great. Just like us...we all take an assortment of rods out fishing because 8 flipping sticks doesn't do it. That's why GM's are so critical, they have to find that correct mix at the right time, for the right money. IMHO.

Hey Bass Guys you need to go bigger

Awesome looking smallie...what a football! -
I need to show this to my wife...just another good reason to sell everything and live on a houseboat!! Seriously speaking, the law does make sense. By transporting fish 100 miles or 1000 miles by boat isn't anything the fish could not do naturally over time. By transporting them over land, the fish can easily be stocked into bodies of waters not natural to the species. Dave

I think it a fake...first look carefully at the background behind the moose before the shot. There is a fairly high gravel embankment. Afterwards, when he is beside the moose, you can see the sun low and through the trees. The biggest issue though is watch the moose go down...rear end first, then lays down on its left side. At the end of the video the moose is laying on its right side. Hmmmm, don't think he and his 2 year old rolled it over for the camera shot. Dave

OFAH looking for a fisheries technician

This all great advice. I'm going to let him read through these posts as it may help in his decision making process. Just having options in today's economy is a bonus. Thanks a lot everyone. Dave -
How to pictures from iPhone to ofnc???
grimsbylander replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
I use Dropbox...its free software that you load from the Appstore. The advantage here is once you drop a file(picture, worddoc, whatever) into it on your iphone, it is accessible anywhere. I was in Europe last year and used someone elses computer to get my files. Just an option. Dave -
The secret here is to paint your car in camo colours, park it close to a big tree and sit quietly for hours...your turkey problems will be gone! Dave

Police Officer shot in LIndsay today
grimsbylander replied to ketchenany's topic in General Discussion
Hey Dutch, Pretty sure the bogus war comment is referring to the fact it's a completely needless drain on society. We all agree that drug dealers and users are a detriment. It is hard sometimes to articulate words in print as to how we feel. Dave -
Police Officer shot in LIndsay today
grimsbylander replied to ketchenany's topic in General Discussion
I certainly hope he has a full recovery. These people don't get paid enough to take bullits from some low-life. I wonder if the low-life has his gun registered? Then it wouldn't have happened...just ask a politician. -
NYS Fishermen Fined $1000 for fishing Canadian Waters
grimsbylander replied to Billy Bob's topic in General Discussion
What are the exact requirements for Canadians fishing US waters? I picked up my NY fishing licence a couple weeks ago and have yet to go. I was told by someone to carry my passport as well as my Canadian and US fishing licences. What about things like boat registration? Are the boating safety regs the same? ie. bailing device, sounding device, etc. Dave -

My son just graduated from University of Western Ont. with his Bsc. Hon. specialization in Biology. I've suggested he look into the MNR but I don't know if it's a good career move. You'd think that starting in the MNR at 22 years old can't be a bad thing... Dave -
NYS Fishermen Fined $1000 for fishing Canadian Waters
grimsbylander replied to Billy Bob's topic in General Discussion
Maybe this is just a little dose of redemption, however, while officers and agencies play they power tripping games, it'll be the honest boaters and fisherman that lose out. Let's hope that with the amount of attention this gets that it all blow over and the officers are told to cool it. That's on both sides of the river. Dave -
Very nice! Is there a more beautiful fish than a natural brownie? Congrats Dave

Hey, what does your screen name mean?
grimsbylander replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
Ah damn, if I new there was going to be a quiz about our names, I would have taken the time to pick a better handle than Grimsbylander!! Hmmm...let me see, how about Pole Position...or Bait Master (yes I had the words reversed but chickened out) ..Hey is it too late to be Bait Master???? Dave
