  1. Thanks again folks... The Escape is far too small for my needs. Heck, my Jimmy is too small some of the time, especially if we are on a trip for a few days. HH
  2. Andrea was in a no win situation. Had she continued to prop up the Lieberals, she would have been seen as being their back pocket. She had already been doing that for a number of years. She had no choice as leader of a her party, but to stop what she was doing and try to, or at least give the impression of, standing on her own. HH
  3. Given the province's economic situation, I expect that the new/old government will be forced to begin the same type of cuts that the PC's were contemplating. It will be highly entertaining to watch as those who felt the PC's were going to rape the province's services are going to start to squirm very soon! The election is over. They can and will do what they want with this majority... and they will because we the people have shown them that they can do what ever the h e double hockey sticks they want and they will still get elected. So the question remains... what do politicians in the province need to do in order to not be re-elected? Obviously wasted funds won't do it. corruption won't do it. Heck, maybe we get lucky and Auntie Kate decides to take up crack! HH
  4. As most of us know, Lake Nip is a very complicated situation. At this point, there is no way of telling who owned the net or why it was left out in the lake. Assumptions are far easier then facts. It has been mentioned here, to anyone with an open enough mind, willing to listen, that NFN are NOT the only ones netting the lake. Illegal harvest has been going on for years and will likely continue to, until enforcement becomes more than just lip service. I have seen a willingness among some to discuss this situation openly and with the best interest of the lake in mind. I would hate see frustration with this situation and the others that are to follow, result in more name calling. I'm pretty sure folks on both sides of this are disgusted by what they are seeing. HH
  5. Thanks again for all you input... no eco boost... got it! HH
  6. Thanks Porkpie... these vehicles are pretty darned dear brand new, up in the $40-$45K range!!!! That just not in the cards right now. Typically, we put the lions share of KM's on our car, Nissan Altima. My wife uses it daily and it's pretty good on fuel. I use the truck for simple things like groceries, dentist trips etc. In the 15 years we had the Jimmy, we only put 145k on it! I do need a vehicle that can carry gear as my other "hobby" is playing in a gigging band. I need a vehicle that will move my cabinets, amp heads and other gear plus be capable of moving people for things like soccer, hockey etc. I am only looking at used since I don't need a daily driver for a commute, I work from home. As you can see, I tend to keep vehicles for some time and put very little mileage on them. Thanks for looking all! HH
  7. Exactly what I have been saying for a few years now Joey! Just back from doing the deed now... polling station is pretty slow. HH
  8. Thanks guys!!!!! I asked my mechanic if he had any info. One of the guys that works at his shop, used to work at a Ford dealership. He said that in the first couple of years that the vehicle was available, they had tranny problems. After that, he knew of no issues. Again, thanks for taking the time folks! HH
  9. Hey folks, Well, it seems that it's getting close to the time that I have to retire my 96 Jimmy. As one would expect, things are starting to go on it and it has become something of a less then reliable vehicle. I need a people mover/ soccer mom type vehicle. I have two kids, 12 and 10, both well over 5ft tall and frankly, I expect them to reach 6 ft easily. I also have a 90lb Lab that likes to travel and all the junk that goes with kids and dogs. My wife and I like the idea of the Ford Flex. Plenty of room inside, fold down back row seats for carrying stuff and just different enough to make it more interesting than a mini-van. So, I am hoping that someone on the board can speak to their experience/knowledge regarding reliability etc... Sure do appreciate your time and help. I am looking strictly on the used market as I have no interest in buying new. Also, if you have other suggestions I'm all ears! Thanks for your time! HH
  10. That looks like a great time Randy! Made even better by a lack of hospital visits etc... Thanks for posting! HH
  11. Thanks for posting this... kinda backs up some of the info we had in an earlier Nipissing thread. HH
  12. Looks good Brian! Using my little brain here, would it be a good idea to fill the tubes with expandable foam, so should the worse happen and the frame lets go while your fishing, the tube would float you gear? HH
  13. I have tried, desperately to come to some kind of conclusion to these questions. I have no love lost for any of the leaders and frankly, don't have a level of trust with any of them. That leaves me to consider the past record of each party, assuming that they will continue on the track of their predecessors. So, I recall "Uncle Dalty" spoon feeding Ontarians his nanny state agenda. Dam the dollars, I know what's best for you all. I see Auntie Katy being cut from the same cloth. I see waste provincially over the last 8 years totaling billions. (Folks, let's not forget that this is the same government who brought us; -E-Health - 8 years into it and it still doesn't work... not to mention billions spent -gas plants - we may never know what the final costs are - billions for sure -wind mills - outsourced to Korea rather than Ontario companies - Billions -Fresh Air testing - hmmm, only in southern Ontario... more cash grab. There just a few off the top of my head. So to answer the OP's question. No I haven't changed my mind as a result of what I've seen recently by all parties. I believe that politicians should be treated like children. A misbehaving child needs to be put in place, so they can understand where they went wrong and learn from it. Same for our politicians. HH
  14. The World, she'sa Flat! HH
  15. Which leads to a further question... say you need a boost, do you have access to the terminal posts under the hood or are you two inch ten'd? HH
  16. Just a guess here Brian, but that design screams "the rest of the vehicle won't outlast the battery, so who cares where we put it"! I once had a Buick Intrigue... worst car I every owned. Superior GM design skills required the entire engine (motor) to be pulled out, in order to replace the water pump. Well over a thousand dollar job... luckily, I got rid of it before that happened. Good luck Brian! HH
  17. How much to do my driveway and tie it into the house? Heck, do the decking in the backyard as well... The world, she's a flat! HH
  18. How did the Polar Bear taste? Waste not want not! LOL HH
  19. A 16ft boat on Quinte can be just fine or it could be one of the most dangerous things to happen in your life. Quinte has current and lots of it. Wind direction plays a major role in determining just how bad it can get. I've seen it like pi$$ on a plate in the morning and six footers by mid day. Just be aware and you should be fine. Stop paying attention and you could end up in serious trouble. HH
  20. What's wrong is that I don't see a few things in the pic... -nothing seems broken anywhere -Terry is smiling, sort of -I see no discarded smelt carcasses in the boat -Terry's beard is not stuffed full of bugs... There, that's a start! HH
  21. I have to disagree with the statement "if you don't vote, you have no right to complain"... I believe that if you pay taxes, you have a right to complain. I find it shocking to say the least, that the people of this province, according to recent polls, have the Lieberals and the Conservatives at a dead heat. 3 Billion plus of completely wasted money, out and out lies re the gas plants, pc hard drive wipeouts, hydro rates... I could go on. Truthfully, if the Lieberals get back in, well the people of this province deserve what they get. I have no expectation the MNR is even on the radar of any of these parties... HH
  22. Yes, I will be making sure that this subject comes up and a few more frankly, when and if one of them dares to show their face at my door! HH
  23. ^^^^ A huge + 1000 from me on this post crosshairs... Got me thinkin that maybe we will seek out the mighty perch this weekend! Willing to do my part in helping! Again, thanks for the post! HH
  24. Actually, IMHO, they need to consider completely ending the commercial fishery, leaving only those nets, for personal consumption. The current system in place is not sustainable and we can see that in recent years with the many changes facing anglers regarding regulation changes on the lake. These knee jerk reactions from the MNR are just bandaid solutions. I've said it before and I'll say it again. NFN made a tactical mistake when they invested money into a fish processing plant. The real money in the region is in tourist dollars and a hotel/casino facility built in place of a fish processing plant would have provided sustainable jobs and revenue streams to NFN. Historically, the drive from the south, up to the Nip area was a minimum of 4 hours from the GTA and many folks simply avoided that kind of drive. No one wants to sit at a stop light going through the small towns of highway 11. Since the highway is now 4 lanes virtually all the way to North Bay, it has essentially made that trip "closer" to the south and therefore more appealing to folks in the south. That's where the money would have come from. The next few years on Nip will certainly be interesting! HH
