  1. Hey folks, I have a cottage rented for a week starting July 23rd. I have never fished the lake, but looking at some on-line info, it appears as though there are not any Pickereyes in the lake. Has this been your experience? I would be very surprised that a Kawartha area lake has no eyes... Anyway, not looking for specific spots, just any experience you may have had on this body of water... pretty sure the kids and I are gonna put a hurtin on the pannies while we are there! HH
  2. Were you out with Terry, in Terry's boat or did you purchase the Mr. Bean goes fishing video and emulate his mis-adventures? HH

  4. Sounds like the aluminum foil hat he was wearing was expanding due to the heat of the fire! HH
  5. No, the difference now is that gill netting has been “legitimized” by our wonderful government. Rules, quotas and what not are voluntary unless and until those netting can find a way to truly enforce their guidelines. There is unfortunately no political will to open that can of worms, at any political level. The King is not wearing any clothes. HH
  6. Ok, all kidding aside, I don't know Mr. Fillion and if you say he has done good work, that's good enough for me... however, that being said, from what you have written, he is an acknowledged and well known personality within the district. (now I may be reaching for straws here) But what kind of target would a man of such high profile, have on his head should he attempt to bring the commercial netting industry into the discussion involving the health of the lake? When money starts to enter into it, good law abiding folks can start to see red... HH
  7. The flea problem doesn't seem to affecting the Sheephead population! HH
  8. Albert, given the speed of your boat, try putting it into neutral every now and then. The speed change will trigger a following fish as well as raise and or lower your bait in the water... Black and orange worm harnesses off of lead core as well! HH
  9. Thanks Mike... I think they can help me! HH
  10. Thanks Lew... I bet I couldn't afford the delivery charge! Seems as thought I can speacial order them in at Home Depot, so I will get in touch with them and go from there. Thanks to all who helped! HH
  11. My phone works, but I can't seem to get anyone to answer the phone there! HH
  12. Thanks Chris... I'd heard that they may carry it, but I can't find it on their web site, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have it... Probably gonna have to put some miles on the truck to find this stuff... HH
  13. I considered it Lew, but based on cost, it looks like 3-4 times more expensive and that's not in the cards right now. Thanks for your consideration though... HH
  14. Scarborough/Pickering boarder I don't want to use shorter boards as the decking boards add to the structural integrity of the deck. It is held up by four posts, that have a frame that the boards sit on. HH
  15. Hey guys, I'm hoping some one in the know could provide some insight for me... I am having to replace the deck boards on my deck at home... unfortunately because of the design of the deck, I will need 6 2x6x18ft boards to properly repair the damage time and weather has put on it. Does anyone know where I could source such lumber? Thanks for your consideration! HH
  16. To the OP... next time that happens, grab a stick and wave it in front of the Turtles face. It will grab the stick and hold on, as long as you hold on to the stick... that will free up your other hand to remove the hook. HH
  17. Call Buttonville airport and they can direct you. HH
  18. Sheer numbers are the cause and with numbers comes thoughs who are either negligent, un-informed or careless... whether you are north or not, the only difference I can see is volume... HH
  19. Did he stop you to do a safety check? It's pretty easy to take swipes at folks in the south who have to deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis... when you live in an area that has little guardianship... you can't compare it to where we live and fish. Butif you feel that you need to take that kind of shot, fill yer boots! HH
  20. Great news Wayne! I know there was some concern regarding the nerve and use of her leg... this news couldn't be better... so now it seems as though it's soon gonna be time for EVERYONE of you to get some down time and healing time... I hope that is comes quickly and easily to all of you... positive thoughts heading up University Ave for you guys! HH
  21. If being stopped on the water was about safety, there are easier and faster, more cost efficient ways of doing so... Why not have the authorities posted at launch sites. Have you and your boat checked before you hit the water. Should you have all the required equipment, your boat gets a sticker that is good for the season. They could still patrol but they would not have to pull up to anyone, who has the sticker. Kinda makes a ton of sense, doesn't it! But that won't happen because they are not out there to ensure we have all required equipment... they are out there to generate revenue. Should you think differently, perhaps you should reconsider. HH
  22. A little hump day humour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPrdNA0XuU0 HH
  23. Nice job Emil... thanks for posting. HH
  24. Just run a line of marshmellows from the dried up creek, to the open water... they'll drag themselves there, whilst enjoying one of their favorite meals. HH
