Good to know Roy... HH
-
As you all know, this little piece of the internet is free for us all to use... well, it isn't exactly free, there are members here who do have bills to pay, to keep this place up and running. With Xmas right around the corner, everyone could use a few more ducats in their wallet... so may I suggest that everyone take a moment today or in the next few, to click on an ad/banner! HH

I hate you guys!!!!! HH Some really nice clean lookin fish... seems that they are starting to come in now... late this year.... I still hate you!
-
Well, the consensus seems to be that Floro as a main line sucks! That's ok, I like it... I also like liver and onions! (or bacon!) HH
-
I find myself agreeing with most here... and do let it be known that I do not have any first hand experience with this or any other similar situation, I'm just a regular Joe, who goes to work, pays his taxes and tries to do good by my family and friends... but one line in this comment has me yet again shaking my head... "Yup, further Bull, racism and pillaging so the rich get richer and the original people suffer still 300 yrs. later." Three hundred years later and we are still dealing with ths same nonsense... it would seem that we could probably stay the course for another three hundred years and what will change? Where's the "win"?! I simply don't get it! Is money the answer? Has that proven to be the solution in other similar situations? It's all fine and dandy for us to point fingers, but wouldn't a viable solution that everyone can "live" with be a better option than 300 more years of this! I wish I had that answer! HH

Again, welcome aboard! As you can see from the above quotes, I'm yer man if you need pink gloves!!!! HH
-
I've used nothing but Seaguar (sp) floro on my spinning reel for the last three or four years... 8lb. I have noticed that there is significantly less stretch than regular mono, I have found it very difficult to break, especially when I'm snagged up and I have found that it's stiffness helps to avoid some of the line twist I would get from jiggin all day. I've used it in extreme conditions, -35 degrees and it still worked well. Sorry you don't like the stuff, but I am sold! HH

I knew you secretly loved my pink gloves! HH

Welcome aboard.... tell us a bit about yourself! HH

I have two Convectors and one of them trys real hard to be as bad as the other one! The only redeeming factor that I can see with them, is the big power handle. If it were me, I'd be looking at the Diawa Sealine Series and get the one that has the line capacity that is going to best suit your needs...Okuma can "Convector me off"! HH

Karma... it is a three way street correct?
Headhunter replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
She never ceases to amaze me! thanks for the update... you guys certainly are a special family! HH -
Exactly Gerritt! The kids need stability to thrive... you and your ex spliting will cause a ripple in their life. Getting rid of the cat could cause even more grief in their world... show your kids that they're happiness is the most important thing to you and your kids will value that. HH

Well said Cliff... most of what you said rings true for me as well... HH
-
Yup, there will be fishable waters, yah just gotta know where to launch... unfortuantely, it will restrict us to only a few areas, but it is still way better than watching fishin shows on the weekend! HH
-
They are calling for 50k sustained on Sunday... there will be 6 footers at the ferry and substancially bigger waves down Adolphus... and Quinte aint like Lake O, the waves are much closer together than the big lake... HH
-
Well, as the time draws nearer, it looks like it's definately going to have a bit of a chop going on.... I especially like it when the wind blows the white caps off of the top of the wave... thank goodness Quinte hardly ever gets rough in west or south west winds! On the bright side, these forecast winds should keep some of the "less hardy" types off the water and open up space for those of us who missed our recent head examinations... and if it does rain on us, we won't get wet... the wind will blow it right off of us! (Note to self... bring extra booze!) HH
-
I beleive that it's the oils in the shell fish that cause allergic reactions... so I am guessing that the spud won't do it. HH
-
I'd heard the potato trick before, but that brings to mind a question... my mother in law is very much allergic to shell fish. should I cook up a batch of shrimp, do you think the potato trick would remove the shell fish problem from the oil? I wouldn't try it, but I am curious... HH

Forecast is lookin like we will have a bit of a "walleye chop"! http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caon0540?ref=topnav_weather_savedcity HH

100% correct Roy... I wouldn't have said it had I felt it would be taken the wrong way! HH
-
Anyone can reel in a fish... not everyone can get a fish to bite! I stand by my misspelled statement... HH
-
I have one superstition... NO TERAPOOPA'S on Quinte! It has been confirmed and documented many times, that a "Terapoopa" in the boat, on Quinte will morf into a stripped critter in no time! HH

I have the Okuma Convector reel (piece of junk that it is...) loaded with five colours of lead core, 50 ft of floro leader and close to 100 yds of 30lb mono backing. It gets pretty darn close to maxing out the reels capacity, but it works. I use this as by far, I'm trolling for Pickereyes and 5 colours is more than enough to get my baits down, but still keep me out of the kill zone. You may find that 5 colours is not enough for salmon or trout, in which case I have added a snap weight where the core and the backing attach. Seemed to do the trick alright. HH

Lloyd, we'll give you a shout on Friday, after we arrive to give you the heads up on the levels... we expect to be there no later than noon. Lloyd, if you really really need a chuckle, just hang out at the Picton launch for a bit... it was quite busy when we got back at around 3:00pm on Sunday and I must say that there were at least a few situations that had me either shaking my head, or yelling at the tow vehicle to NOT pull the boat out yet, as they had only managed to get the boat 1/2 way onto their trailor... then there was the guy who didn't know how to take the parking brake off of his truck... I could go on and on... HH

Just curious as to why the question... are you planning on filling a reel and wondering about it's capacity with l/c? HH
