  1. All seems to be good on my end as well. Firefox here too. Cheers, Ron...
  2. Right on..... The usual for us Aaron, "A day late and a dollar short". Only this time we were a day early. Water just started to clear late in the day Friday. Coulda woulda shoulda...... Cheers, Ron...
  3. The number one cause of hot water failures is: People do not regularly drain their tank on at least a yearly basis. When we bought our house 26 yrs ago, I had to replace NG tank. The side rotted out from lack of service. I faithfully flush tank once a year. We are on town water so there is little solids/calcium that accumulate. Tank is still as good as the day we installed it. Myself Cliff, I would purchase tank outright, and flush the tank once every 6 months. If you find lots of build up/solids, calcium, flush more often. If you find that the tank water is fairly clear, flush it out once a year regardless. Cheers, Ron... Oh, and for the money, install a metal drip tray and run drain line along with a water alarm. You can get the tray and water alarm at home hardware. Change the battery in the water alarm the same time you replace the batteries in your smoke detector.
  4. While I do agree, don't go if you don't know. We constantly check the thickness of the ice when we venture out. But people speculating on the thickness of the ice from shore can get really frustrating. The kids were skating on 5 inches of ice, plenty safe above the guidelines recommended. As for the locals putting the thoughts of unsafe ice, did they actually go out and test the thickness? These are the opinions from lack of knowledge, it makes everyone else that has taken the proper precautions look like we deserve the Darwin award. Even the Fire Department measured with inadequate tools. Take the butt of an axe handle and "eye it" to the bottom of the ice, ya there is safety for ya. That is just like a police officer pulling you over for speeding and the officer gives you a ticket for doing 20 km/hr over the speed limit because it "looked" like you were going that fast! I guess in the total scheme of things though, it makes for good news.
  5. A couple of very respectable Muskie there Lew. Cheers, Ron...
  6. These guys take their fishing way too seriously! lol LUV IT! Cheers, Ron...
  7. Right on, looks like a great year for ya. Nice!
  8. Nice haul! To me, ice fishing is just as addictive as Muskie fishing. Then again, all fishing is addictive to me. Cheers, Ron...
  9. OK guys this is getting more than sidetracked. Best to let this one rest or go into the obis of cyber space. Chotchkies House, let it rest man, you can still save yourself. To the rest of ya's.... play nice and ignore the comments, it's way to early for winternet. Cheers.... I vote to lock it down...
  10. Well that takes CFP outa the picture! LOL Just kidding of course...... Cheers, Ron...
  11. I'll second Boat Tech, Grant Mills is a stand up guy, does quality work and really knows his stuff when it comes to Minn Kota trolling motors. He is a authorized dealer and warranty centre. I too have had bad experiences with Aikmans but that was for servicing reels. Had 3 baitcasters serviced, all he did was clean the outside. I had to take one apart to see why it was still "grinding" and the inside of the reel was still with the old grease which blackens over time. I took the other 2 apart and same thing, he didn't even look at them.
  12. Chris Purdy caught a Muskie? I don't believe it for one minute! lmao!
  13. I too have owned both. The Terrova is by far more superior a TM. To be able to operate by both the foot pedal and by key fob is by far, very handy. The guy at the back of the boat always gets the key fob. When working the high current areas, the anchor mode paid for itself right then and there. We could sit in current in a river and anchor in key areas with out dropping an anchor. We had an area so fine tuned, I guarantee it put another dozen brookies in the boat. The anchor mode was effective fishing for White fish as well, no ropes to get tangled up in. I have used the plotter a couple of times, it is handy on a couple of weed lines I fish for Muskie, but would rather have control of the TM myself. The stow and deploy???? WHY DID IT TAKE THEM SO LONG? Bottom line, many advantages to the Terrova. Is it worth the extra coin? That is your own decision. For me it was worth it. Cheers, Ron.
  14. LOL There is always open water somewhere in Ontario. Last year, we hit the Niagara on a regular basis if we weren't on Simcoe ice fishing.
  15. I find it best to just use the boat on a biweekly basis during the winter months. Saves on fuel stabilizer and such.
  16. One of my favorite times to take photos, just after a big snow storm.
  17. Don't underestimate the thin wire on the micro. The first one I bought, I now use for work. (It's awesome for flushing down toilets to trouble shoot). I also use it for detection in walls. Plenty tuff I guess is what I'm saying...

Looks like a great season. THE BEST is at 1:54 (the eyes.... oh the eyes) ha ha ha Cheers, Ron...
  19. I purchased one of the micro units before they came out with the recording mode on them. I found it so useful, I purchased another one with the recording mode. A lot of time spent on new lakes, I simply send down the camera to get an underwater view of structure I'm looking to fish. It has been a great asset for the Kawartha Lakes in tracking down Crappie. I would highly recommend getting this micro unit as it easily fits in your pocket, you can get 2 days of run time with it and with the record mode, you can review it on your monitor at home. The only downfall is: the screen is small and I have found in one instance fishing for Rainbow trout, I didn't notice fish holding in tight to the bank until after I reviewed it on the puter. Bottom line: Yes it is a handy gadget to have in your arsenal, however, it would be the last necessity required to improve your fish catching abilities.
  20. Actually, Pike did not migrate from Seymore Lake (Campbellford) until after the Lift locks were installed. Before the locks, there was a natural barrier - Rainy Falls. On the other end, same thing, There was no real connection to Balsam Lake before the lift locks were installed from the Mitchel Lake side. Balsam Lake being the highest point of the TSW, originally water flow ended up in Bay of Quinte.
  21. That is all I use in the condos I maintain. You can't go wrong with Kidd brand. Hard wire with 9 volt battery backup.
