  1. Thank you Moe, again you did an excellent job. Also I'd like to thank all those who donated prizes, everyone left with a prize. Excellent totals, hopefully the auction will surpass last years totals. John
  2. I have several Quantum spinning reels, and really like them, never had a problem with them. Quantum/Zebco has been building reels for many, many years, and until a couple of years ago were made in the US. Now because of stiff competition from off shore, they now come from off shore, but they are maintaining their quality control.
  3. Moe, Let me know what you are putting out of your pocket, and I can re-imburse you for some of the items. I have to be in Aclona and the park sometime to day, do you want me to drop in and speak with the manager face to face. Let me know his name, It couldn't hurt. my cell #(705) 717 4557 John
  4. That sucks! So late in the game. Not only poor corporate company, but now poor community relations.
  5. Welcome Jason to the show that never ends, enjoy the ride. Why not come to the Tyler G2G on Saturday and meet some of the group. Great time, great food, and great prizes. John
  6. Moe, Can you fill me in on this auction. I had no idea there would be an auction as well. thanks John
  7. Holy Sh!t, material things can be replaced, glad you are safe John
  8. For our many members and friends, if you do not have ice fishing equipment, do not let that stop you from bringing your family for the outing. I will have 5 combos with me and a manual auger. I will loan these to anyone who is without. Do not stay away because of equipment shortages, come and enjoy the day and meet our great members. The weatherman is going to co-operate. Temps -7c with clear and sunny conditions. Great day for walking on water John
  9. For those who would like to attend, BUT, do not have ice fishing tackle. I will have 5 rod and reel combos and a manual auger with me on Saturday. I will not be fishing, and anyone without can enjoy the outing by borrowing mine. I will also post this on the general board. John
  10. The temps are dropping to -12C tonight, so it should tighten up the slush. Dave, what time on Friday will you be at the site. I have to meet the the Honey wagon and set up our porta-potti, maybe we'll cross or can meet. my cell (705) 717-4557
  11. Julie, I'm saddened for you and your family, at the loss of your cousin and friend. Always take time to remember the good times, and she'll aways be with you God speed. John
  12. Not being a fan of CBC, I agree and support you completely. Excellent note 12 year old items that have been resovled is not NEWS or commentary, it is exploitive. The same as the Toronto Sun sensationalizing Karla Homolka, these news outlets have become obcessed. I would pass your e-mail to the CRTC for their response. John
  13. Sorry to hear about the additional injurie to Sheri, Lew. You know Lew, the rectums get what is coming to them eventually, they don't fly under the radar for very long I hope she feels better soon John
  14. That's a nice looking hut. Where did you purchase and how many $$$ did you have to lay out? John
  15. How many hand held GMRS radios will be available for the G2G. I have two, but will need one on shore with Moe. Let us decide on a common channel. I also have a hand held VHF radio. I remember last year we were using channel 5.02. Will that be OK this year? John
  16. I use two pc spinning and float rods, and do not seem to have lost any sensitivity. lI have a 2pc musky rod (Diawa-Heartland) I haven't had a problem with it coming apart. It is a nice rod for the low cost, but for musky fishing I prefer a one pc. John
  17. I'll be bringing a hand auger and a couple of ice fishing rods/reels for those who may not have any. No need for a great $$$ output to come and enjoy the day. Bring your good spirits and big smiles John
  18. I sent Big Cliff a PM a while back. I will be supplying styrofoam plates, BBQ utensils, spreaders for the mayo, ketchup and mustard, already started on the diced onions John
  19. I'm going to agree with Lew on the St.Croix rod. The BPS Pete Mania series is a great value, and an excellent quality. Take a trip to JB's and test feel the St.Croix rods, Shimano rods, and whatever other musky rods he has in stock with your choice of reels. What works for one person, may not be a good fit for someone else. Buy the best you can afford, and you will not regret John
  20. Porta Potti has been arranged through Jenco. I will be meeting with their driver on Friday to arrange placement. John
  21. I'm not sure what you mean. A couple of years ago, I attended a lure making seminar put on by a couple of board members, Musky_Man, 2Rs and Outtolunge, 2Rs makes bucktails and was using clutch cable. Covering a piece with thread, then adding his bucktail. When finished would slide it onto the piece onto the wire shaft. Perhaps an auto supply shop may be your best source. Good hunting, John
  22. Other than the admission price and a cup of coffee, I left the show empty handed, which is a good thing.... I'll test the Sportsman's show this year , but I saving my $$$ for the Odyessy. John
