  1. How big is your group? I take up to 3 anglers. JP, Trophy Taker-Jeremy Brooks and Jeff Anderson all do well.
  2. Entertaining and educational for the packed house in London last night. For those who have not seen it I am sure you will have a good time. Dave it is a good thing Bev(security) did not have her walker or she would have chased you down.. LOL For those going to the "show" tonight and Thursday please support "Casting for a Cure" and pick up a Shimano hat, it is a very worthy cause.
  3. The river is just starting to heat up as the water temps begin to rise. Good action last wk before the snow, wind and rain turned the water to mud. Most anglers have been jigging using 3/8 -3/4 oz jigs, chartruese always seems to work well with orange being another good one. With most winds coming out of the N and E this year fishing has been taking place on the Michigan side of the river. Look for things to get better for the next 3 wks as fish will be finished spawning and ready to chow down. This past wknd the Maters Walleye Circuit was in town and 56 of the 112 teams came to the scales with over 30lb bags for 5 walleyes. We finished 7th with 38.27lbs respectivley, the winners had 43.49lbs.
  4. Looks like you got your NW winds Ryan. Bubbles with all that ice I think it will be more like two wks April 2 but I have been wrong before.. Mark that was fun fishing together that day and others.. lol Have you learned how to make ballon animals HAHA. Let me know I have some days off during the wk we good get out. For those looking to make the trip south it is about 3.5 hrs from the Big Bass store in Vaughan to the marina.
  5. The satellite pics show there is plently of ice 2/3 on Lake St. Clair and some in Lake Huron which means walleye fishing is just around the corner. I usually get the boat in the first weekend of April and this yr is shaping up to be on schedule. Fishing is usually a bit slow to start but a good chance to land a trophy. As the water warms and mid April rolls in so does the action. Most of the shows that you have seen on TV with good action have taken place from April 15-30th. At this time of yr you will have walleyes in all stages of the spawning process and the river will have a million or so walleyes to catch. Remember to fish smart and practice selective harvest.
  6. Rob, not sure how well it will work on the Power Drive model but no problems with it on a Terrova.
  7. The Ont record Wiper was caught on the Detroit River 21 lbs http://www.ontariofishing.net/fishrecords.html Temperate Bass Hybrid 21.18 30.0 25.0 5/14/2006 Salvatore Oddo Algonac, Michigan Detroit River Lead Jig Looking at the numbers 3 record fish have come out of the Detroit River.
  8. There is a really good bite on the Detroit River in mid May after the walleye run. You can jig or cast to the feeding schools lots of fun.
  9. Great to feel the warmth of the sun and see all this snow melting knowing that open water walleye season is only 1 month away. I was at the Outdoorama in Novi Michigan talking fishing with many and hearing that they have had enough of "Old Man Winter" The Detroit River will be free of ice and the walleye bite is just around the corner. Where is everyone headed for their first open water trip?
  10. Congrats to her and the team. 5 or 10 pin. I bowled YBC 5 pin out of Midland Ont and enjoyed my experiences.

  12. I am glad to say that my new snow plow has arrived just in time for snowmagedden.
  13. I have 2 XL's in my boat 21' Ranger Fisherman. These are much better and durable than the MK brand.
  14. Bang for your buck the Okuma Classic Pro GLT Rod - CP-PB-7101M-T http://www.okumafishingteam.com/dyn_family.php?k=303182 the rod is 7'10" and telescopic if you are think you need a longer rod the 8'6" works too. Even better probably only $35-40 CDN
  15. 80# MK on the bow of a 16 footer would be no problem fishing all day. I know guys who have the 80MK Terrova on a 621 Ranger and do not run out of juice when they have good batteries.
  16. Best thing you could do is see 2 people to teach you about electronics, Lawren Wetzel at Radio World-Toronto or Joslyn at Angling Outfitters in Woodstock. They will help you make a decision based on your needs. I like Lowrance because I use my fish finder.
  17. Since you said you are looking for a fish finder buy a Lowrance. The model and money you want to spend is your choice. HB makes a great SI, and the GPS is bullet proof, but their fish finding capabilities are lacking to say the least. If you are in the Woodstock area go to Angling Outfitters.
  18. Mike as you know Bob is an accomplished angler and he could shoot a number of shows by himself, but thankfully as others have posted he gives back to many groups. That includes fishing guides, which in turn helps their business. I was fortunate to film with Bob for Lake Erie walleyes back in 2004 and in 2003 shot with Pete Bowman on the Detroit River for spring walleyes. Both are a lot of fun in the boat.
  19. Craig, Hook n Look is a great show hosted by FLW-BASS angler Kim Stricker of Mich. Some of the best underwater footage shot by Kims son Danny while Kim is on his Evinrude powered, Chevy wrapped Ranger using his Hummbird SI while throwing a Strike King lure. LOL For those that unaware, companies sponsor people because they want their product or service in the public eye. If that did not happen we would not be watching fishing, NASCAR or any other pro sport. Seriously it is a great show with a host that has won numerous "big" money tournaments and not some half hour infomercial salesman pitching products. http://www.kimstrickerproductions.com/index.php
  20. The next commercial should be "Waiting for muskie season?" Now you hook up your big dog, shepherd or lab type to the collar(no hooks just the snap) attached to your musky rod/reel and play fetch with a stick.. LOL HOLD ON !!
  21. Nice truck Ryan but I was hoping you picked the other Dodge SUV, so I could ask you "Hows your Aspen" LOL Merry Christmas to you and your family,
  22. Well it looks like the open water season is officially over for me. Last wknd I hit Leamington for what was the last trip of the yr. Met up with friends who were headed out perching and my boat would search for walleyes. The water was very muddy for the first 10 miles out until we got closer to Pelee Island. I decided to hit a shoal at the south end of Pelee about 20 miles from the launch with no luck and very little action on the graph we headed another 8 miles to another shoal in OH waters. The action started right away in 35fow and continued as were trolled to the end of the spot picking up 6 eyes and missing 1. Next troll we set up and sure enough the first GPS marker we hit a double and completed the troll with another 4 but missed 2. The next pass was our final as we hooked up a double but missed one and shorter there after picked up our final fish. We were runninig Rapala HJ and Reef Runners with some custom colours working well. A cool 30 mile ride back to Leamington and that is all she wrote for the open water season as everything has started to freeze over. I hope everyone had a great season and look forward to another great yr starting in April.
  23. Are you hitting the rev limiter(beep)? If not your tach could be off. I know others that are running the same rig with Tempest 21-23 pitch props on Erie with no problems. Check with the guys at WC, more guys there will be running the same rig as you.
  24. Nice fish Cudz. Simcoe is similiar to Quinte in respect to fish (walleye-bass) Quinte eyes don't get a second look unless they are over 10 lbs and bass on Simcoe need to be over 5lbs. It is one heck of a fishery. I fished with Dave Kennedy for the 3rd yr and weighed in 24.5lbs for 11th place. In other news there was one guy not in the tournament that was GPSing a number of locations that had boats in the area. To me that is not right, find your own fish buddy! A number of tournament anglers noticed this happening. Congrats to Joey Muszynski and Mark Moran for the win and record.
  25. Very nice fish Moe Moe congrats. Was "Lady Luck" with you this time??
