  5. Jackie's Sister just called to let us know that Jack passed away this morning at 06:30 AM I am very chocked up trying to post this...It is bad enough to lose a friend but when he was also a good fishing partner it seems a bit worse somehow... There will be a service but I don't have any details at present... At least he was home for a few days at Christmas time...I know they were both happy about that... Jack always whistled whilst he fished...He will be greatly missed this spring at the Manor...

  10. I'd rather a prime rib roast medium rare than steak...sometimes I'll cut off a couple of steaks before putting into oven if it is a large roast for BBQing another day... Don't have it much married to a vegetarian but luckily she eats fish and dairy...

  21. TRIP TO COSTCO Yesterday, I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Biscuit, the Wonder Dog and was in the checkout line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet once again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital the last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete, so it works well and I was going to try it once again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's ass and a car hit the both of us. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard. COSTCO won't let me shop there anymore.Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.
  22. Another tale to tell your grandkids when they get bigger...Great story Steve...
  23. I declare this a "dead-heat"
  24. Thanks for reminding us what we are missing... We got about 4 inches of snow up until I had my nap...too dark to see if we got more... Too wet for the blower I'm thinking...
  25. I gotta agree (not that I can afford to do so)... Like I mentioned in another thread most carpers do not have thousands of dollars or pounds tied up in boats, motors down riggers, etc. so spending money on good tackle makes sense to me... Sure, you can catch fish of any kind with cheap tackle but it feels better using good stuff... Hell I caught lots of nice bass using only a bamboo pole, heavy line and float, hook and sinker...and my grandad (who never owned a rod and reel) landed the odd musky using his bamboo pole... I say...use what you can afford and enjoy the sport !
