  1. Great start to my day! What a report ... And with one heck of a happy ending. Way to go Nick!
  2. I was on marten lake last summer and could not get anything to bite either. I almost tried it yesterday, but opted to drive further north. Thanks for reporting back! Nice laker
  3. Wow, what a find!
  4. Seems the morning bite has trumped the evening bite as of late. I'm suprised the perch bite wasn't great during the day... Still it sounds like a great trip!
  5. I didn't know they had the same parent company. Still, 80 vs. 140 is definitely not the same price point.
  6. Yes, but I paid 140 for the Soron, the Supreme is on for 80... But since its the older generation at that price, I'll pass on it. I just thought it was a great deal.
  7. Good one!! I'd love to have an inland bow meet my frying pan some day!
  8. You need to control your webshot, spiderman.
  9. Thanks for clarifying Dan. I've never used a Supreme XT, so I couldn't properly identify it just from the photo. That's one heck of a deal then. Maybe my Abu days are over.
  10. I had a good one too. Spent the day with the gf on Temagami then Lowell lake. I completely skunked for lakers but I dont really care! Sun was out, temps were mild, snow fights were often haha. My only complaint is the traffic on Temag, but I solved that by going to another lake haha.
  11. Is this a good price? http://ca.wholesales...prod247154.html They also have the Abu Garcia Soron for $100 (50 off). I have this one and love it. After all these positive Supreme reviews though, I'm having a hard time not clicking on "add to cart".
  12. a great auger! Even easier is the 4.5" finbore III micro. A 7lbs walleye and some fair sized ling/pike will still fit. It would not work for big whitties though.
  13. What a green slob that walleye is! Those matt tracks are awesome. We used them in the high arctic and they completly conquered the terrain.
  14. I know these can be a PITA to find sometimes, so I figured I'd post the link. I picked up the 4.5" replacements for $21 plus shipping. Pretty good price imo. http://ca.wholesalesports.com/storefront/ice-fishing/augers-tools/fin-bore-accessories/prod109559.html I also picked up a 6'6" spinning Berkley Lighting rod for around $30. This will be my "spare" for next season. I'm still in the market for a fenwick HMG, St-Croix or similar quality spinning rod. I'm open to used offers as well Time to hit winterlude with attidude... if you see anybody racing down the Canal bodychecking the slower people, come say hello.
  15. Good bag o' fish! Sounds like it was a tough day, but you guys still did well. Kudos
  16. Sure buddy, I'll drink your beer. I have a low traffic option for silver bass I'd like to try this year. All we need is my canoe. Should be epic. More details next time we chat! To Raycaster: there is lots of good fishing around here beyond Nip. For the 18th, I'd recommend Nosbonsing or Wasi for walleye.
  17. They are actually a protected species so they have to be released.
  18. Glad to see you guys got out. Mild day wasn't it? Did you make traditional mudpuppy stew?
  19. Check out my last Nip Report, you'll see which one I use. Its made by Worek. It is deeply curved so it readily darts sideways. Anything similar will work with the same effect. I pull up very quickly about 12 inches and let it drop. Wait 5 seconds and do it again. I'll break the pattern every so often with a shake or a longer pull. This works great on Nipissing
  20. Fresh fish indeed! nice having the option of river or ice, isn't it?
  21. Hmmm interesting. Sounds fishy. Hey Mike HT, good luck out there, I look forward to reading your report. Enjoy nipissing!
  22. Filet knife as a chef's knife that's good. The gf loves blue cheese. I'll print this off and try it next time!
  23. I am in your shadow when it come to cooking skills... but since you asked. Pre-made alfredo sauce (make sure the last ingredient is Dimethylpolysiloxane) A bit of pre-made tomato sauce to make that "rose" colour Chunks of Walleye Mix thoroughtly and slather over whatever noodles are in your cupboards that are not yet stale. Serve with garlic bread and asperagus. I looked up that Dimethyl crap and I wasn't too impressed, considering it's also used as a viscosity treatment in plastics... next time I'll make the sauce myself. I'm actually a "decent" cook, but I tend to make things with a strong bachelor-twist when I'm short on time. Honestly, I was a little embarassed typing this recipe.
  24. My cheeks puckered up just looking at all that hot sauce Your walleye filets look great by the way!
