No Dustin I did not try to steal some copper I will tell you the story when we hook up though, but the jest of it I was helping my crew on a holiday shut down and thought that I would be a hero and work on something hot so they could get home earlier and it backfired on me dwc67 By the looks of it the bear was stopped dead in it's tracks and my guess in was 5KV, looks almost like a street lighting circuit. That bucket is a fiberglass pedestal used to enclose wiring splices, in my area they are normally installed under ground with the cover being flush with grade, at least for high voltage applications.

Dustin we have had two separate incidents in last last six months of people trying to steal what they thought was copper wiring from public utility poles only to be electocuted. One died and the other is in a vegitated state. Bears don't know any better but people should. The one guy not only was trying to steal the wiring from a live grid he was doing it in a thunder/rain storm go figure. Whopper Below is an example of some idiot sticking his arm where he shouldn't have.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as a member I think all you can do is edit a post and if you are the one that started the thread you can only edit your text and not your Topic Title. Whopper

Well besides the money that I invested in new musky gear this year I tried to keep it simple with purchases this year so that do more trips than usual. One thing that I found that was money well spent and was very inexpensive was the intro to fluorocarbon for leaders and spooling a couple rods with fireline. For those of you still using store bought or steel leaders you may want to read JP Bushy's article in this months news letter. I had more than a few conversations with him over the past year about jigging technequies and this year was the first year using fluoro to make leaders for pickeral & pike fishing. In July I had the pleasure of fishing a lake in NWO for mainly pickeral but the lake had a very good population of pike in it also so this is when I put to test what JP and I had talked about and what he has written in his article I was pleasantly surprised. Using the fluoro leaders fishing for pickeral eleminated breaks offs from both pike & pickeral while jig fishing completely for me and convinced my partner, my son, to follow suit after a couple of frustrated lost fish. In years past I have been strickly a mono man but this year I also started using fireline on a couple of rods and have found it also rewarding for increase sensitivity and performance. Typically I try to use a light as line as possible which typically will lead to losing baits due to snags, well with the use of fireline line this year I have saved a lot of baits that I wouldn't normally be able to retrive due to the line strenght of the fireline, so I have saved some money there. The cost of the fluoro for leaders and the fireline were both more than what they replaced but saved my money and improved my catching in the long run. Whopper

Pretty wild stuff, covers definetly weren't designed for snow load. Don't know if I'd want to be the one shoveling snow off the covers though.

Matt I went to the one in Columbus this past year and there was a lot of tackle in a small area. I met my first OFC'ers at that show. DrPhil and his son Jason with musky magnets had a booth and I went to one of Pete M's seminars. It was really neat but as far as good deals I really couldn't tell ya with my limited experience. I did get some good deals on some Grim Reapers spinnerbaits. I suspect the Chicago show or the one in Pittsburg is probably better. If ya want to come up to the Columbus one next spring give me a shout I'll probably go again. Whopper
