  1. Wow it look like this is not a popular lake. I'll give it a go this weekend hopefully I can find a couple.
  2. Well, I can only chime in on what I have. I have very small engines a honda 9.9 4 stroke and an older yamaha 2hp 2 stroke. Both have been great, usually start 1st or second pull. The Honda is super heavy (not sure if all 4 strokes are), but is super quiet, efficient and reliable. The yamaha has been a great engine as well. Hope this helps.
  3. I've been invited there for a weekend by a friend. Does anyone have any suggestions / fishing tips?
  4. Wow those blades do look great! Awesome hobby.
  5. I've never been, but my sister went recently and suggested I take my kids. Says it was great.
  6. Am I the only guy here who has a Niagara falls NY postal address for these things?
  7. Awwww Crap. Thanks for making me miss my Rhino even more Awesome reward for your efforts.
  8. Some Good replies! I think im going to add a #4 to my list to do a fly-in trip though Im not sure that will happen until next year :-(
  9. Well, after spending time reflecting on the past year, I decided to start coming up with a to-do list. Thought i'd share it here and see what others have set for themselves. May even modify my own list. 1) Spend more time fishing with the people close to me. Fishing buddies. My Kids. The people who need me around as much as I need them around. People who are "good for the soul" as I call it. 2) Get back into those "warmwater" fish. Been so busy with work and family the last few years I forgot how much I miss bass/pike fishing. I may have even forgot how. 3) Find a new "adventure" fishing hole. The kind of place that takes you down some 4WD roads, through a mudhole and down an unmarked trail. The kind of place where "getting there" is half the fun...
  10. Great idea using the auger to flood! I remember learning to play hockey on a pond by my house...some great memories...and every new years we would rent a cottage on pigeon lake and used to play our own winter classic.
  11. Wow! Nice Pictures! Thanks for sharing. This cold weather has me dreaming of trout season....16 weeks to go...
  12. Thanks staffman, im gonna give those guys a call.
  13. Yeah I thought about that. But i'd need a pretty thick diameter PVC pipe to keep the reel attached. And i'd like to have 2 rods setup.
  14. Hey Just got a new 10'6 Steelhead Rod after my son Stepped on my old Fenwick chrome killer Was looking around for a case that would house my rod and reel setup. Even better if I can keep two in there. Local Fish Shop only has the tubes, but I'd like something to hold the whole setup, reel included. But nobody seems to have one around here. Does anybody know where I might find one? Broken down length is 65 inches.
  15. Yeah, it was rough!!! Cant wait to do it again...labour day if all goes well!!!!
  16. I fished stormy a few weeks back. Had some t-storms whilst up there and didn't do very well. Hope you have better luck...
  17. Great pics! I've only dreamed of catching specks like that..
  18. Well its been awhile since I've been bass fishing....well a long while so I was looking forward to seeing if I remembered how. Well I got there Friday and drank some beer, then more beer...and never made it out at all so we got serious on Saturday. Went out in the morning got a bunch of little ones. Came back and got the Barbie ready for dinner.. This was absolutely delicious. Took hours to cook but well worth it. 4 Grown men just sat around it for 5 hours drinking and just watching it cook.....then it was time to eat....sorry, doggie. On a side note, on the drive home I need to figure out how to build a small version of a bbq pit like that. If anyone knows where to get the parts shoot me an IM!! Oh yeah....the bass fishing was good, too!
  19. After getting skunked for the last 2 years (and not fishing at all it out of spite last year) I decided to fish one of my local trickles to see if there were any browns left in there. Water was at an all time low, I was skeptical. First 3 holes...chub central...4th hole...huge sucker gave me a scare..finally after walking a ways I found this guy. Not a monster but definitely a good catch for the trickle I was fishing. As I was untangling this one, my buddy has one on in the next hole...its about a 2 pounder! I tried to help him land it but well it ended with a lot of four letter words..this was surely a trophy for this water. Kept fishing found one more little one...And then what? Pulled out a tiny bow. Been fishing this water for 20 years never ever saw or heard of a bow coming out. Find the odd speck in here, but a rainbow? Not sure how it got there. Anyway just glad to have the respect of my old honey-hole back....thanks for readin'
  20. It's 12 ft long. Im just worried the weight of a 9.9 is too much. I've done it with a 2 hp with no issues at all
  21. Hey Guys going to bring this back into the realm....Had the boat in the back for several trips and it works great...now the question is can it be done with a 9.9 on the back??
  22. I have a hyundai 1000 watt generator(they also Make larger) from Wal mart for well over a year. It's an "inverter" type generator which means it does not need to run at super high RPM to produce "clean" power and hence is quieter. Not as reliable as a honda but I got it on clearance for 1/4 the price. It is very quiet and works for me.
  23. I found myself in the same situation as you last august...enjoy the "me time" and make a plan to catch that big one that got away.. See you on the water.
