Not a bad job eh? If the OFC game happens i'm wimping out and want to play on 'shirts' team…..lol. Its gonna be touch and go whether jack wants to skate as he was put off when he took a tumble on a smaller one i made with him a week ago. He seemed a little more enthusiastic when i said I would lace up my skates….so we will see.

YOU HAVE TO ADOPT ME! -
My Gopro also had me very frustrated, did not work worth #$#@ until the updates. Could not get the update with the crappy old PC I had, had to wait 6 months while I saved for a super fast iMac. Once all the updates were installed it has worked flawlessly. Discover more about it every time I use it. Loads and loads of video tutorials on youtube to help. Get the free Cineform Studio editing suite from Gopros website…its helps. The LCD Backpac and Battery Bacpac are well worth getting as is the 'Wasabi' wall charger, it comes with 2 batteries(otherwise you can only charge a battery while it is in the camera. Another neat thing that has come out made by Gopro is a charger that allows you to film while it is charging, local tomelapse filming just got better as a result. There are other cameras on the market, but with Protune/Raw, Cinema 4K(doubt i'll ever use this anytime soon) it is pretty maxed out for a starter camera.

Hey, i have the hero 3 Black Edition it comes with a remote. Remote definitely works for me. The only difference between the Hero3 and Hero 3+ is the housing (smaller), cameras are exactly the same dimensions. For diving you will want to invest in a filter (red) and apparently film in Protune, RAW setting….this allows you more scope for editing later apparently.

Absolutely awesome Drew. Some truly beautiful shots that encapsulate everything this site is about, thanks for taking the time again to inspire us. Oh….and happy HO HO to you and yours from mine and me.

Merry Xmas to you too Kelvin.

The fen wicks are awesome rods…..the only reason why i went with the St. Croix is i broke both my fen wick Medium/Heavy last year. I would say they are very similar, although the St. Croix are $5 less and have bigger guides which helps with ice build up.

Yeah and at $30 a real steal…really…really nice rods, picked up two this year.

catch and release the big walleyes!!!!
limeyangler replied to BIG FISH's topic in General Discussion
I agree with catching and releasing the big ones, however I will occasionally keep one if I have a fish fry event on the horizon. That being said if it became law that you could not keep anything over a certain size i would strictly adhere to that regulation. On certain lakes I fish I release all the big fish as they won't, in my opinion, handle the pressure like some of the bigger bodies of water.- 10 replies

A fall from grace (the Duck Dynasty)

Ok, you are now conflating different myths across different decades to try and argue that homosexuality is wrong/evil/sinful, this is like the nonsense spewed out by FOX 'news'. First off, arguing about what percentage of any population is homosexual has no relevance whatsoever on the right/wrong/sinfulness of homosexuality. Secondly, being homosexual does lead to a weakened immune system. The research shows that the disease originated in primates and jumped species, HOMOSEXUALS DID NOT START AIDS! In fact it could be argued that perpetuation of this myth in fact has caused more incidence of the disease among straight people believing they are immune from infection, there is how its spreading!! I could quote man, many studies, not least that of my mother who is Head Department at the University College of London, UK (Anthropolgy) that analyze and study the spread of AIDS among different populations globally…..all of which would show that your conclusions are at best naive and ill informed and at worst ignorant, cynical and dangerous. Next thing you will be arguing is that the 'flat' world is only 4000 years old, fossils were a put there as some kind of Divine hoax, and anyway, who cares whether Adam had a belly button or not! What has changed? A realization that love , heck even lust, between the same sex is not despicable or sinful. It harms nobody, it simply threatens an anachronistic view of the world embedded in a particular socio/economic/political discourse of western society. -
St.Croix do some nice rods for $300 If you try jigging, use a braid mainline (10lb is more than enough) with a fluorocarbon leader (18" to 36") attached either with a uniknot or similar or a micro swivel. I mainly use $30 Walmart combos (Mitchell) but have a combo that cost about $80 that is my premium set up….lol. I drool over some of the gear out there, but do pretty well as is and break way to many rods to risk a high end ST. Croix.

Cant go wrong with a jig and minnow around here. Good fish finder to find 'em…then fill the boat. I'm not familiar with the areas you fish so am not sure how useful that technique would be for you there.

I am also not a religious person in the conventional sense of the word. I think most religions have a good heart, at their core is a set of values that I agree with, love, tolerance, selflessness etc…etc. But i cannot ignore the way that people use parts of religion very selectively to justify ignorant, hateful, intolerant, hypocritical and bigoted views they hold with no need to question those beliefs because of 'FAITH'. As far as i can tell most of the storm here is over this guy saying that homosexuality is a sin. I could not disagree with this more wholeheartedly. Here is a perfect example of what i was just talking about above. Was Phil being hateful/homophobic? I've certainly heard worse, but to say this is ok…IN MY OPINION….because it is informed by faith in a particular religion does not wash, some very nasty things (note i refrain using the word 'evil' because of its religious baggage) have been done in history that were quite ok at the time because this or that deity said it was. Things change over time, I remember as a kid stuff that was blatantly racist and sexist was acceptable on TV, this is no longer the case because people campaigned to change that, challenging the power structures(read religion among others)that perpetuated these hateful, bigoted myths. So…back to what Phil said……there is a clip on youtube that I love. Because 'sin' implicitly implies choice, i think it challenges Phil's religiously informed opinion on homosexuality , ( the same way that other 'opinions' have, overtime, been challenged and changed for the better) -

LOL…..if i can be anywhere near as cool as my old man i'll take it! I was just talking to my wife about this kind of thing the other day and we were saying how the stuff that Jack has experienced( the NW Ontario adventure continues) in his 4 years on this planet is amazing and will benefit him no doubt in later life no matter where we end up. Definitely something in that for sure. I think its about engaging kids in stuff other than what shoes they need to have to be 'accepted'. One thing I have learned is that kids copy you and WANT to emulate you, GOOD or BAD. Take for example Jack wanting my hair style( bald/none) over his gorgeous red curls because "dad's hair is cool". Anyway, if they see parents valuing material things/ avoiding going outside in favour of a video game/ they pick up on that….if they see you loving the outdoors, being kind to animals, eating healthy(ish), exercising, having the freedom to express feelings without fear, taking time to respond to others needs..etc…etc…etc…they will emulate and value those things. Sorry about the lengthy response that is bordering on being a diatribe….the first shot of morning caffeine just entered my brain! Yeah, friction in that situation is not your friend! OH dear, you have unleashed the beast……..as a proud father it is sometimes difficult to resist posting stuff, here's a couple of my favourites from this month…….The mussel recipe might even rival your delicious looking Pulla bread! -
Great outing guys. Come on Chad…put some effort in…just lift the sled back on the truck (says the man with the gimpy elbow)
