  1. Hi all, Got an hour in by our shore at around 1pm. Got a nice bunch of 'Lawneye".
  2. That is Hilahriosso! It would give us the excuse to meet up …long overdue! Great idea Bushy!
  3. No, i have to disagree with you because i hate you and want to fight you to the death.
  4. balance is what is needed…both 'concepts' need to be observed. Sorry Rick, I'd have to agree that the original question is kind of silly….a non question really.
  5. Hi all, Went out today with no expectation to catch. To my surprise the water temperature was 63F in the south facing bays. After wading through a couple hundred small pike I found some crappie, in about 1'FOW, just sunning themselves, but not shy enough to ignore a fat minnow under a slip bobber, great fun sight fishing crappie. Got a nice walleye and an 18" smallie too. Sight fishing for crappie
  6. I was there for the spectacle alone and to have fun showing the kids. The older guy kept a couple for trout bait and some for a lady who 'cans' them. He says it tastes just like canned salmon…whod've thunk it eh?
  7. Thanks Dave, I checked the regs over before we left for the FMZ we were in, if ya have a licence you are good to go in that creek for suckers, not a sanctuary. Spearing jackfish would be a no go as would capturing smelt. As for bears…yeah, in the area I live in always a risk whether picking blueberries or netting suckers or walking the dog or shore fishing or going to the dump. Right after that we went to visit a friend camping out down a logging road, saw 6 bears in all. thankfully we were in the truck as it was momma and baby bears, heard mums get a little testy in that situation!
  8. Hi all, Suckers are running in the creeks.
  9. Tis indeed ……24" Walleye and a 34" pike .
  10. Thanks man, I was particularly fond of how the umbrella one came out. LOL, yeah Brian, it was quite the competition. The light colour dog(Diego) wanted to lie on them so nobody could get them, he was even carrying around 3 balls in his mouth at once to stop the others getting them, while Sadie(Roloff's sister) would just run away with it wanting the others to chase, Roloff was very patient if not a little bemused. Its nuts…..29C yesterday and there was ice on the lake a week ago! I feel it in my waters too chad….lol.
  11. Hi all, What an awesome day. Started waaaaay early and was on the lake as the sun poked up over the horizon at 5:15am. 3 nice walleye and a bunch of lakers later i was back in time to prepare for an afternoon fishfry by the lake. Fun, family, fish, friends, fire pits, food and fireworks . Did i mention it was an awesome day? Literally first jig down and a massive arch heaved itself off bottom and slammed my jig (4"minnows). Took pictures, reloaded so to speak and same thing again, but it spat the hook, about 10 minutes later another nice walleye. The walleye bite died off and i got a few trout, then another walleye. Tried a spot i know for a bass with no luck. All the fish were in 14'-17'FOW, water temps varied between 42-46 degreesF. Got home, got supper ready and some friends dropped by with their dogs ( Roloffs's sister) for a fishfry. Jack and Payton say they are getting married…..I approve…she's a real sweetheart and they got along famously! IT WAS ACTUALLY HOT TODAY……SUMMER!!!!!!!! Woodsmoke, fish slime, cut grass , gasoline, 2 stroke oil, bug dope,….lol….the scent of summer for me! SOME PICS OF A MOST EXCELLENT DAY!
  12. AWESOME! Some really nice fish. I will be hitting up Erie this July, hope to emulate some of that. Looking good there G-Man.
  13. LOL…he had the glint in his eye to get me on more than one occasion, had to lay down the law though, don't want him randomly aiming pressure washers at things….he'd send the cat flying a couple hundred yards with that thing!
  14. Hi all, Getting the boat cleaned out after a long winter has never been so fun.
  15. Its been an odd weather year up here, so most of the fish are not where they normally are this time of the month. Maybe that has something to do with it but i'm not sure of the weather conditions where you live.
  16. Getting a few walleye showing up in the bay now. Some have spawned some not….weird year for sure. I have never seen the water so high since i've lived here, its up on the lawn!
  17. Sorry for your loss. I can empathize with the pain of driving to the vet. They are part of the family, never a more loyal friend to be found in my opinion.
  18. Went to lake with family, got some fish, looked under rocks, dog swam and fishfry for supper tomorrow night. Awesome afternoon. Fish were done spawning at this lake, none of the males caught, be it Jack fish, walleye or perch were making a mess…all done!
  19. Giant face eating Rainy River Sturgeon.
  20. Thats awesome….what happened though….your kid lost his face!
  21. Hi all, really felt like spring yesterday. Still some ice on the lake but it will be gone by the end of the week for sure, if not sooner. Wet a line with Jack last night after work….BLISS! Had some marshmallows and a few fireworks. Fishing was sloooooow, without a hint of a walleye but i got a nice 34" pike and a fat, ready to burst perch.
  22. Ice wont be gone by opener, but Roloff wasted no time getting wet as soon as the gap at shore appeared. Nice to see the sun at last too. That aint going to last though, clouds, rain and minus temps at night again for much of this week. I am going to buy a few dozen minnows on Friday though, should be able to cast from shore.
