Awesome....well since she's hooked so to speak and the excess luggage seems to be an issue....i'd be taking her to some boat shows to show her some bigger boats with all that neat storage, built in speakers etc...etc In all seriousness though...thats awesome....lucking out on my dream package(although a 12' boat would be the best) for some small bush lakes.....and then finding your wife is the perfect fishing buddy....AWESOME!

A terrova 55# would be perfect. given your limited casting deck space if you get the co-pilot remote control you could operate the motor from anywhere in the boat....the autopilot is also great to have as it means less time readjusting course and more time fishing. if you have the cash go all out..get the new i-pilot! i wish i could afford it1

Walleye fishing with my wife! She got her PB 27"
limeyangler replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Yeah JB...especially that one. Ever since he got it 2 years ago the shift to reverse wont work, he's had it back at the shop twice...told its good to go only for it to mess up first time out. Chuck was really having a 'bad' day out there. His Merc packed in again, the trolling motor would not turn, and his new fishfinder was not working...again...after getting a new transducer cable sent to him as the original new one was faulty right out of the box. To add insult to injury we were pulling in fish after fish right next to him and they caught 3 all day, but weve all had that happen before i'm sure .....he was a little bit grumpy by 2pm....but a good sport considering. -

Walleye fishing with my wife! She got her PB 27"

JB!....holy crappola...your on here even less than me these days. Yup, it took a while for my wife to warm to the idea of leaving baby for any other reason than absolute necessity, but she has finally cracked and 2 days before we left she actually said she could not wait to get away with just me for the afternoon. I tentatively suggested we make it a monthly thing if possibly, she agreed very enthusiastically....COOL! -
Hi all, We booked our childminder last week so we could head out in boat together for the first time in over 2 years. My buddy chuck made it a double date and he and his partner joined us in their boat. We kinda headed out in different directions once we hit the water, passing occasionally to swap fish counts, jokes, chattering nonsense and friendly verbal abuse....lol. The spot is near Frenchman's Head on Lac Seul, and we tried to go round the Sioux Lookout/Hudson way round to avoid all the bush roads you take if you head from Dryden, definitely less stress on the boat/trailer/equipment as its all highway except for 15 kms, but it only left us 2 and 1/2 hours to fish as it took a long time to get up that way. We found the spot 2 years ago after spending a whole morning trying to find a remote bush lake up that way only to find the trail to it was washed out and needed to find an alternate fishing spot. We fished it twice 2 summers ago with good results, and today was not as good as the first time but better than the second time fish wise. Its all weeds in the bay, so fishing can be awkward, i love rippin' weeds for walleye, but my wife struggled at first for 2 mins but thats how long it took for her first fish and she did not seem to mind after that. It took her about half an hour to work out what was weed and what was a bite. She got her PB walleye of 27", in fact that was the biggest fish of the day, with scores of 19-23" ers and our 8 under slot. No fish over 18" were kept, and even the fish over slot ( you are allowed to keep one over slot each) were released to continue to make Lac Seul what it still is AWESOME!!!! WHY KEEP A 27"er when you already have 6 eater size on the stringer? (ps..if you fish Lac seul, rember to kill the fish before you put them on a stringer.....no live fish except bait allowed.) Jigs and minnows as bait, fish moving out of the thicker weeds as the morning moved along and prefering a fast trolled action as opposed to vertical presentation, the jigs totally outfishing the walleye spinners my buddy and his partner were using. My wife said she now really liked walleye fishing.....lol...she hated it before because she said we would wait all day for a couple of little fish, i guess thats what it was like when she last fished for them with me 3 years ago on Lake Wabigoon when we first moved here and i'd never even heard of a walleye before.....but i've learned a lot since then, and going to Lac Seul is a no brainer if ya want walleye. HERE'S THE VID <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> HERE'S THE FISH MY WIFE SAYS IS "THE BIGGEST EVER" IN THE VIDEO NOT LONG AFTER THAT SHE UPGRADES HER PREVIOUS BIGGEST EVER WITH THIS BEAUTY 27"er PB!

Hi all, Got out to a local lake that certainly takes more effort to get to than it does when its frozen. Great fun hauling my boat in with the ATVs, only got stuck 3 times. Fishing was average, but i outfished my buddy Chuck for a change and we had some banter about that all afternoon which is always fun. Mel scored a couple of nice eaters too, the wind was up but the sun was out. Water temps at the surface in the 70 - 74 degree range, Wind NW 20kmh+, sun and clouds but hazy with forest fire smoke. The bigger fish we found were consistently relating to the drop offs from weed lines in 16'-18' FOW. The smaller fish were in the weeds, especially in one spot where there was considerable current at the mouth of a creek. The pike were friggin everywhere as per usual...lol. SORRY PEOPLE, SOME COLOURFUL LANGUAGE IN THIS VID <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Found this article whilst reading the news...gruesome and cool at the same time. An unusual clash between a 6-foot (1.8m) alligator and a 13-foot (3.9m) python has left two of the deadliest predators dead in Florida's swamps. The Burmese python tried to swallow its fearsome rival whole but then exploded. The remains of the two giant reptiles were found by astonished rangers in the Everglades National Park. The rangers say the find suggests that non-native Burmese pythons might even challenge alligators' leading position in the food chain in the swamps.

Hi all, fishing opportunities have been few and far between for me recently...i do get out with the kids at work regularly but its not 'fishing' the way i like to fish. Anyway...did manage a pleasant ride round our bay on July 1st with my wife and boy...here's some pics of my boy admiring my monster walleye. ...since i've not been getting out much...i spend alot of time taking random pictures in our yard....Sunsets, eagles and herons.

Dogfish wriggle after being skinned and gutted
limeyangler replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
definitely Liverpool or Manchester area accent as you say Cudz. So since there are no bowfin that i have ever heard of or seen in the UK, those are definitely the shark type Dogfish tails (i've skinned and ate a few myself...they never did that though) This is the fishy right here -

glad i skipped watching woefull England
limeyangler replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was just general knowledge Thats gonna be an interesting match, i was very impressed by the Germans....although its easy to look good against England at the moment. NO...we absolutely should not give England any credit...they were a steaming pile of dung from the beginning. What we need to give them is a pay cut...these bozzos on average earn over $150,000 A WEEK! not very good value for money. England have been out in the 1/4 finals before....but at least those times they played well and treated us to some good football in the group stages...this world cup was just embarrassing. I wish that the disallowed goal incident never happened because now they have an excuse....when really there are no excuses left. Anyhoo...good luck to Germany...they deserve to go all the way! -
HI All A MUCH BETTER WAY TO SPEND 2 HOURS THAN WATCH FEEBLE ENGLAND PLAY FOOTBALL <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The plano liquid bait container is very good.
-
Hey Shan &jay, I'm not quite sure about all the wire stuff you mention, but usually the transducer reads temperature , already built in, no need for anything 'extra'.
-
Sorry for your loss Jer, very sad.

Welcome to the board rigged, look forward to your reports.

Hey Sudzy, dunno whether you saw my recent report.....but i stopped using downriggers and mostly anchor up in 50-60 FOW and vertical jig them with jigs and minnows or jigging raps/spoons/swedish pimples/white tube jigs etc....basically the same lures and techniques i use when icefishing. I have certain spots marked now on my gps...but i found these by picking an area and slowly trolling a grid pattern with a constant eye on the fishfinder...as soon as i see bait fish ...anchor up and jig....you'll be able to watch the trout on your sonar come up and hit the bait...really fun way to catch them...and very effective when your'e not in too deep a lake. It also gives you an up close and personal view of what lures they like, really like and outright reject on any given day as you are watching in real time their reaction . Here's a sample vid of me using the technique in on Sunday. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

great job...try and try again.....makes it so much more rewarding. I dont know about anyone else...but the more i fish lakes with deep water...the more i tend to go deep.....lol...my new catch phrase is becoming GO DEEP OR GO HOME! -
i almost felt sorry for you until you mentioned you manage to fish every night off the pier/dock....lol...j/k Dan. awesome pictures....the wildlife on the highway alone on your way up there from dryden never ceases to amaze me. Hope to see the laker pic....that is a beast of a fish.
