  1. Hi all, went out with my buddy Al again...this time we did not bother even trying for the elusive crappie and got on with the business of catching some smallmouth.....the bass certainly were in the mood to bite today, despite the freezing, wet and windy conditions. Bait was jig and rubber shad and gulp minnows.....Al made me laugh... he said he's finally found a fish stupid enough to eat Gulp! Too cold and tired to write much else...here's some video of todays adventure <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  2. Fantastic Bruce! thats a feast! Good job....i still aint found them here yet. Must be satisfying to get 'em on your home made jigs.
  3. Hey TC.....dont know the area...but tight lines....cant wait till opener!!!!
  4. Nice fish SBK....picture looks a bit like an old one from the '70s....lol...you still using a polaroid instant?
  5. Hi all, i've all but given up on the crappie search till the weeds emerge and the water warms up a bit more. Went looking again, but knowing the bass were biting in the same lake only devoted 2 hrs to the (again unsuccessful) search. We caught around ten each, best one at 18" went to my buddy Al, but i got a nice 17" one and a 29" northern to get team 5 a few points...gawd knows we need 'em with all the trout being entered recently. Anyway....nothing complicated as bait, orange and chartruese thumper tail shads on a jig was all that was needed, find the shorelines where the White Pine is growing....usually where the rocky/boulders are...and voila...BASS!...great day out. My buddy Al had not fished for bass in over 20yrs...he had a blast....now converted...lol...he's been to the tackle shop and is busy buying braid, mepps spinners and and beetlespins for our next bassin adventure tomorrow morning on a lake i've been saying i'd like to put the boat into every year but always dont....soooo...till tomorrow heres the vid and pics we managed to get before rain forced the camera back into shelter....lol. ANOTHER FUN DAY! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> A FEW PICCIES
  6. Great weekend there guys, awesome pictures, not at all envious....lol...much!
  7. Love it Mike....your enthusiam for fishing always comes out in your reports...love it....congrats on the new PB!
  8. Thanks Mike...when does bass open for you? I dont own any spinnerbaits come to think of it....i was using beetlespins though....with mini tubes and white/chart 1/8 jigs and minnows......i'm gonna give it another shot on thursday morning with a buddy....will pick up a spinner bait. However i only have a couple of hours out there...and so far the amount of time i'm spending changing up gear to try different things to trigger a bite is not paying any dividends so far. Anyway Jacques...thanks for the reply....you always do
  9. DONE! Liked it the first time...still liking it. Good luck in the competition
  10. STUNNING PICTURES...almost distracts from some pretty darned awesome fishing too...great report paul.
  11. Awesome stuff man...lovin those underwater shots...really cool!
  12. Thanks syn.....they definitely exist on this body of water....and yup...slip bobber is the way to go too....here's a vid from last year...albeit around June <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid263.photobucket.com/albums/ii158/vishuscirquel/crappie.flv"> And i mananged to find one whilst icefishing this year too....again it was a bit odd as general rule seems to be where you find one you find another...but this one was travelling solo...lol No problem sirfish, i get this every year when i post my first bass sessions. I think your'e right on the water temps, mind you i got into a bay....shallow...and surface temp was 60, some of the deeper bays were 55, and then some spots showing 40 - 45. I've tried everything in the crappy textbook in terms of presentations, depths, locations etc...etc...lol...zip...nada. I did find out a couple guys got 10 crappie where i was fishing...but i never saw a thing...or even got a bite at that location.....oh well...lol. and yes...there certainly are some monster snapping T's on the goon...saw one 2 years ago sat on our shore (rock) its shell was the size of a large garbage can lid!
  13. Went out to try and find crappie....alas another unsuccessful mission After about 2 hours of searching what seemed to be prime locations for crappie i flung on a mepps( actually i think its a blue fox vibrax)to take a break and catch a few pike....which i did...but surprisingly the bass were where i usually find them in late june! had a blast. HERE'S THE VID <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> AND SOME PICS FROM THIS EVENINGS JAUNT
  14. No problem....sounds like you should try the 'windows moviemaker' suggestion i made, you could do a slideshow of all of the pictures, add comments, music etc...et voila.
  15. Good one guys, good start Terrance....very good practice run for the big one to get team 5 back in the running
  16. Another great report Bruce, wow...you seem to be getting out there a lot more recently...awesome!
  17. Too bad Chris....but enjoyed the thread all the same...lol.
  18. fantastic report! catch your own bait....love it! also good to see a seafishing report, i am assuming you are fishing the ocean with the striper you caught. Anyway...great report, your boat is cool too, my father in law used to run something similar out of Eirieau, Ontario. Great looking cats, and the striper had me remembering going out with my sabiki feathers, catching live sandeels, and 'bubble floating' live bait for sea bass back in England. Thanks for posting.
  19. Good stuff Vinni...look forward to some pics. If your running a pc and have microsoft office, open the pictures with microsoft office picture manager (right click on picture, select 'open with' , select 'microsoft office picture manager'. Once in program select 'edit pictures' at the top of the screen in the middle, this opens a side bar on the right hand side of the window, at the bottom of the side bar you should see 'Change picture size' click on 'resize' and choose the size you want. Another way to do it would be slide show stylee, again if you are running a PC you should have 'windows movie maker, you can import all the pictures into the program, drag them into the time line in whatever sequence you choose, and when the program 'publishes' the finished project it will compress the file size automatically. Probably some more advanced puter users could do it easier, but it works for me. hope this helps.
  20. awesome stuff.....i have no idea what most of the jargon pertaining to trout fishing means....but i understand a fish count easily...lol....awesome job.
  21. WOW....i live for days like that, not that we have cats up here. They look like they'd put a bend in your rod...solid muscle! great report.....i would have been fishing way past 9:30pm...lol...your will power amazes me!
  22. I do a lot of catch and release too....in fact i say i release way more than i keep...i will go for walleye and not keep a single one sometimes...much to the bewilderment of some people.
  23. AAAAAAh....corn...i caught one once through the ice on a jig and minnow. betcha a muskie would love some of the bigger ones too. anyway.....great post Mike.
