  1. Thanks for all the kind replies gang. I want to respond to each of you but cant get the darned multiquote thing to work. Bly and Ryan.....i was going to call this thread "On the shoulders of giants" refering to Sidney and Averie.....i was thinking of them the whole time leading up to the moment jack got his first fish. LOL...HTMH.....Mynnow is not a strange English accent its just what Jack has called Minnows since he decided he wanted to talk.

  3. Hi all, Jack came out in the boat with mum and me this evening. I took us to a lake that i know holds lots of perch with the hope that a bobber set up might get jack his first fish. The lake is more of a 'puddle' by the side of the highway...but very sheltered with easy access. Jack got his first fish ever in the boat after first losing a pike after a line stripping battle. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IvTlvBAEySg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  4. Nice one Joey. I'm on shift work too so can appreciate both the insomnia and the mustering up of energy to get out...always worth it in my experience...and by the looks of that walter worth the effort too!
  5. awesome....looks like a great time( as per usual)
  6. Hi all, went down the road to Eagle Lake for a couple of hours yesterday afternonn. Windy and cloudy but the rain stayed away . I had no real game plan other than to drown a few minnows and leeches, just wanted to relax and was having a stress/craving day with the giving up smoking thing. With no game plan i found myself with the trolling motor down right from the launch exploring the areas i normally cruise past on the way to the main part of the lake. Right off the bat got a couple of bass. Cruised across the landing bay channel with a spinner and got a walleye, then cast a jig and minnow at another 'bassy' looking rock pile on a wind swept point....found some walleye in 8' fow right under the boat. Cruised another 100yrds on auto pilot to the adjacent point and found more walleye on another windswept point at depths not exceeding 12'. I must have travelled a whole 200yrds and had non stop walleye fun for 2 hrs. Nothing big, biggest was 20". Perfect way to forget i wanted to smoke and was back in time to give mum a break and give Jack supper/bath and take care of bedtime...everyone went to bed happy with a nice fishfry thrown into the bargain. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b2Ic38rq54g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  7. Get 'em Brian. I was a bit broke when i was at Princess auto so did not pick them up. A couple months later my wife bought me a set for $70 at CT. I was getting through way to many bulbs etc....the vibration on the logging roads would either mean i needed to replace a bulb or the whole unit. I had the stupid things all zip tied up. I have been to many lakes along some pretty rough roads so far this season and not one problem with the lights. I LIKE 'EM! And they are bright too....really light up even during the day like someone else already mentioned. And thanks to this thread i wont be unplugging anymore before backing into the lake! :thumbsup_anim:
  8. breaking a foot on the day of the opener!!??? grounds for divorce!
  9. LOL Jacques...great fishing for sure! Gotta love when the bite is on. There must be a different breed of fisherman over there....cuz recently i havde had people on an empty lake scoot right over to me and start fishing within yards....unlike the boaters you mentioned waiting till you leave! NO PICTURES!!!!! thats like smoking without inhaling!
  10. Congratulatios...very cute kids....Love the name 'Noah'
  11. Yup i know.
  12. Got out for a couple hours yesterday......... <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E9eipB9SoeE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Gotta love summer!!!! :thumbsup_anim:
  13. LOL...i'll stick to my jig and minnows thanks. Just kiddin' Vincenzo....good job!
  14. Hi all, spent two days on the lake this weekend. Saturday went out with some friends and their 2 year old son, and my wife and our boy.We set up a day camp and headed out in seperate boats, we caught some jackfish...and a full stringer (limit) of walleye and had a fish fry supper at our house that evening. On Sunday we dropped off our boy with the babysitter, who lives in the same bay as us and took off for a few hours to hunt for Jackfish and bass...my wife does not care for walleye fishing too much...but loves throwing spinners/topwaters for pike and bass. SATURDAY MORNING I WAS UP AT 0415.....GIVING UP SMOKING PLAING HAVOC WITH MY SLEEP....BUT IT DID MEAN I GOT TO WATCH THE SUN COME UP WE HEADED OFF 1 HOUR LATE TO MEET THE OTHERS WHO WERE PUTTING IN AT THE LANDING. GOT TO OUR SPOT ON THE LAKE AND EVERYONE HELPED SET UP AFTER SETTING UP CAMP WE HEADED OUT IN SEPARATE BOATS, A FEW FISH LANDED....MORE ABOUT ENTERTAINING THE KIDS THOUGH. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS FISHING, JACK WAS READY FOR A REST AND LUNCH....ME TOO WE CAME BACK IN FOR SMOKIES ON THE BBQ WHILE THE 2 BOYS HAD A BIT OF AN EXPLORATION OF THE CAMPSITE AFTER LUNCH JACK AND MUM WENT FOR A NAP AND GARNET, MICHELLE AND THEIR BOY GARRET CAME OUT IN MY BOAT IN SEARCH OF WALLEYE...WE FOUND THEM.....DUNNO WHY I DID NOT TAKE PICS THOUGH?! MUM AND JACK MUST'VE BEEN EXAUSTED, THEY WERE SOUND ASLEEP STILL AFTER 3 HOURS, JUST THOUGHT THIS WAS SUCH A COOL PIC OF THEM SLEEPING...EXACTLY THE SAME POSITION...GENETICS? On Sunday my wife and i went out for bass and jackfish, we spent a couple hours out there then pulled up at our neighbours dock and picked up Jack. Jack did not want to go in yet so we fished in our bay for another 1/2 hour. VIDEO OF SUNDAY <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Uoq-cEQblNg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> SOME PICS FROM SUNDAY ONE OF THE BIGGER BASS COUGHED THIS UP...A BABY SNAPPING TURTLE WE PICKED JACK UP AND WENT FOR A CRUISE/FISH All in all a fantastic weekend...... Tight lines all.
  15. LOL....i have actually been trying to encourage her to take the helm so to speak....she grew up piloting her dad's 30' boat on Erie, but she hit a rock or something once and they nearly sunk (wooden boat)...she says that puts her off trying. I explained that there is no way she could sink our aluminium with only a 30hp on the back! She was not comforted....lol
  16. Absolutely, the 3 first entries i put in in february or something i have been getting the same problem.....i've been waiting a month after trying to update the entries by adding new pictures again.
  17. Great report NAW, enjoyed reading that....LOL...i hope my wife never decides to sneak off in my boat!!!!
  18. Nice ride...nice fish...really liking Picture No.2 :thumbsup_anim:
  19. WTG Joey....what a piggy salmon....fantastic I dont think that fish should be allowed in the competition as it clearly states in the regs that the date on the card has to be in RED.... :rofl2:
  20. LOL...only you would be so bold Paul! Thanks JD....its going good. CONGRATS ON 11 YEARS Lol...i've done the Brookie thing 4 times now and never caught one....i've all but given up! I'll hit cold turkey in about 9 weeks, i'm just giving myself that time on the patches to get used to not smoking, i'll be fine. I went cold turkey on Saturday, in the excitement of going fishing i forgot to put my patch on in the morning...i felt like crap all day but did not realise it till 5:30pm. So the patch is not a placebo effect!
  21. Good thinking ...love jelly beans.....wonder what the blueberry ones will taste like with pike slime on 'em! Thanks Ryan.....it really does feel like you guys have got my back...the support has been amazing!
  22. Nice catch bud! thats a fine stringer...and holy what a nice day to be out eh?....at last! I went camping/fishing with a buddy and his wife....2 boats...2 two year olds....great day...got some walleye...but the bite was tough. LOL at Bingall......it does kinda look like the bay at the landing end. Now i'm intrigued....sounds like 8...hmmmmmmm?
  23. Thanks again for the replies, its not as hard as i anticipated and am going on day 4 now. First day out in the boat today since quitting, should be interesting...lol.....but even if my cravings are bad...i dont have smokes with me or anyone who smokes in the boat so relapse wont be an issue....and i love fishing more than smoking so i'm sure it wont suck too much!
