  1. Get 'em Brian. I was a bit broke when i was at Princess auto so did not pick them up. A couple months later my wife bought me a set for $70 at CT. I was getting through way to many bulbs etc....the vibration on the logging roads would either mean i needed to replace a bulb or the whole unit. I had the stupid things all zip tied up. I have been to many lakes along some pretty rough roads so far this season and not one problem with the lights. I LIKE 'EM! And they are bright too....really light up even during the day like someone else already mentioned. And thanks to this thread i wont be unplugging anymore before backing into the lake! :thumbsup_anim:
  2. breaking a foot on the day of the opener!!??? grounds for divorce!
  3. LOL Jacques...great fishing for sure! Gotta love when the bite is on. There must be a different breed of fisherman over there....cuz recently i havde had people on an empty lake scoot right over to me and start fishing within yards....unlike the boaters you mentioned waiting till you leave! NO PICTURES!!!!! thats like smoking without inhaling!
  4. Congratulatios...very cute kids....Love the name 'Noah'
  5. Yup i know.
  6. Got out for a couple hours yesterday......... <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E9eipB9SoeE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Gotta love summer!!!! :thumbsup_anim:
  7. LOL...i'll stick to my jig and minnows thanks. Just kiddin' Vincenzo....good job!
  8. Hi all, spent two days on the lake this weekend. Saturday went out with some friends and their 2 year old son, and my wife and our boy.We set up a day camp and headed out in seperate boats, we caught some jackfish...and a full stringer (limit) of walleye and had a fish fry supper at our house that evening. On Sunday we dropped off our boy with the babysitter, who lives in the same bay as us and took off for a few hours to hunt for Jackfish and bass...my wife does not care for walleye fishing too much...but loves throwing spinners/topwaters for pike and bass. SATURDAY MORNING I WAS UP AT 0415.....GIVING UP SMOKING PLAING HAVOC WITH MY SLEEP....BUT IT DID MEAN I GOT TO WATCH THE SUN COME UP WE HEADED OFF 1 HOUR LATE TO MEET THE OTHERS WHO WERE PUTTING IN AT THE LANDING. GOT TO OUR SPOT ON THE LAKE AND EVERYONE HELPED SET UP AFTER SETTING UP CAMP WE HEADED OUT IN SEPARATE BOATS, A FEW FISH LANDED....MORE ABOUT ENTERTAINING THE KIDS THOUGH. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS FISHING, JACK WAS READY FOR A REST AND LUNCH....ME TOO WE CAME BACK IN FOR SMOKIES ON THE BBQ WHILE THE 2 BOYS HAD A BIT OF AN EXPLORATION OF THE CAMPSITE AFTER LUNCH JACK AND MUM WENT FOR A NAP AND GARNET, MICHELLE AND THEIR BOY GARRET CAME OUT IN MY BOAT IN SEARCH OF WALLEYE...WE FOUND THEM.....DUNNO WHY I DID NOT TAKE PICS THOUGH?! MUM AND JACK MUST'VE BEEN EXAUSTED, THEY WERE SOUND ASLEEP STILL AFTER 3 HOURS, JUST THOUGHT THIS WAS SUCH A COOL PIC OF THEM SLEEPING...EXACTLY THE SAME POSITION...GENETICS? On Sunday my wife and i went out for bass and jackfish, we spent a couple hours out there then pulled up at our neighbours dock and picked up Jack. Jack did not want to go in yet so we fished in our bay for another 1/2 hour. VIDEO OF SUNDAY <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Uoq-cEQblNg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> SOME PICS FROM SUNDAY ONE OF THE BIGGER BASS COUGHED THIS UP...A BABY SNAPPING TURTLE WE PICKED JACK UP AND WENT FOR A CRUISE/FISH All in all a fantastic weekend...... Tight lines all.
  9. LOL....i have actually been trying to encourage her to take the helm so to speak....she grew up piloting her dad's 30' boat on Erie, but she hit a rock or something once and they nearly sunk (wooden boat)...she says that puts her off trying. I explained that there is no way she could sink our aluminium with only a 30hp on the back! She was not comforted....lol
  10. Absolutely, the 3 first entries i put in in february or something i have been getting the same problem.....i've been waiting a month after trying to update the entries by adding new pictures again.
  11. Great report NAW, enjoyed reading that....LOL...i hope my wife never decides to sneak off in my boat!!!!
  12. Nice ride...nice fish...really liking Picture No.2 :thumbsup_anim:
  13. WTG Joey....what a piggy salmon....fantastic I dont think that fish should be allowed in the competition as it clearly states in the regs that the date on the card has to be in RED.... :rofl2:
  14. LOL...only you would be so bold Paul! Thanks JD....its going good. CONGRATS ON 11 YEARS Lol...i've done the Brookie thing 4 times now and never caught one....i've all but given up! I'll hit cold turkey in about 9 weeks, i'm just giving myself that time on the patches to get used to not smoking, i'll be fine. I went cold turkey on Saturday, in the excitement of going fishing i forgot to put my patch on in the morning...i felt like crap all day but did not realise it till 5:30pm. So the patch is not a placebo effect!
  15. Good thinking ...love jelly beans.....wonder what the blueberry ones will taste like with pike slime on 'em! Thanks Ryan.....it really does feel like you guys have got my back...the support has been amazing!
  16. Nice catch bud! thats a fine stringer...and holy what a nice day to be out eh?....at last! I went camping/fishing with a buddy and his wife....2 boats...2 two year olds....great day...got some walleye...but the bite was tough. LOL at Bingall......it does kinda look like the bay at the landing end. Now i'm intrigued....sounds like 8...hmmmmmmm?
  17. Thanks again for the replies, its not as hard as i anticipated and am going on day 4 now. First day out in the boat today since quitting, should be interesting...lol.....but even if my cravings are bad...i dont have smokes with me or anyone who smokes in the boat so relapse wont be an issue....and i love fishing more than smoking so i'm sure it wont suck too much!
  18. Nitro worms...they still sell them up here...agree with the holy mess they make. I tried them last year on my idiot bass lake (i.e. the bass are so easy to catch, even from shore with a slip bobber and worm, even an 'Idiot' can catch 'em......lol...that would be me) and they did make a huge difference. The difference being even when it was a fish a cast as soon as i offered up the nitro worms not a bite to be had!
  19. Stunning Tyler. 2 questions...what the hell is a 'banana'....lol and did you have live bait with you for the walleye and they hit lures better, or is it just that you did not have any. I'm relatively new to this kind of fishing and am always intrigued by walleye caught with lures....i've had a few but not often...guess i dont use them enough maybe. Just curious.....i dont know if you get what i'm asking....lol...neither do i...its 5am. Anyhoo...great report!
  20. Ok....i think its unfair to label those products as "gimmicks" as they have helped a lot of people quit. I am fully aware that i am not "nicotine free" at this point and am probably ingesting more nicotine daily than i might have done on some days when i was smoking. However, i chose this method after careful consideration. i know from beating other addictions in my life that reducing gradually works...FOR ME... I like what i hear about Champix...but even Champix does not work for some people. But as i've stated before...Champix sounds like a pretty good plan 'B' for me and i appreciate all the insight you share about your experience Thanks dood....i'm gonna give it 1000001% Will do Bubbles...thanks man. Not only will i get more time fishing....i can afford it too!!!! Awesome spincast....i'm in awe...and all these success stories harden my resolve to do this. Thanks for your support. Thats exactly what i think. No way i'm gonna have just one,,,i know where it leads. I know how my addicted thought patterns work too...if i justify one i can justify more. Thanks man....i'll check it out....jeeeze...i'm sweating already just thinking about exercise. But her we are again...another success story....congrats daplumma...good job Where the hell ya been buddy? have you been out for Bass yet? Anyway thanks for the encouragement Gord, it will be a pleasure not to have to step outside of your Frabill this winter or poison you in mine! The Crappie should be in in Mile and trap...i aint got out as much this year...fancy a trip out soon? Once again...thanks for your support. :thumbsup_anim: Thanks for taking the time to post that Harrison....this is helpful to everyone...not just the hopelessly addicted
  21. Me too wayne...if it was not for 'tough Love" when i was fighting with other addictions in my life i would have been dead long ago. Its a shame that the concept is out of favour in the climate of political correctness we live in today.
  22. Thanks for your insights Todd, I dont want to speak for Paul (Merc), but i think given what he has openly talked about on the forum before that he is in any confusion about the nature of 'addictions'....lol...in fact he is somewhat of an expert on the subject! I'm sure he realises that he needs to get back on the 'programme' and has even asked me for help....OMG..."the Blind leading the Blind" or as they say in proffesional circles "peer Support" Like you say Todd...a few more gadgets on the boat before summer is over looks to be on the cards...thanks for your support buddy LOL.did i mention i have a Red Bull addiction already too :wallbash
  23. Very good advice Ted, I think there are a few tried and tested ways to approach giving up, but at the end of the day everyone is different and what works for some may not for another...in my view as long as the 'means' do not cause harm to others its the 'end' that counts. PM sent Paul...i think we could be mutually beneficial to each other here. Did you get to keep the boat!!!!???? Thanks LBH.....and congrats to you...i'm only 2 days in and am in awe of those of you who continue to successfully not smoke Went to pick up a prescription today(unrelated to my smoking issue) and was looking at the nicotine gum in anticipation of my first fishing trip without smokes. The pharmacist said it was a good idea and would not be harmful to double with the patches for short periods. During our conversation he also mentioned Champix and was very enthusiastic about it, he said the same thing about the smell turning your stomach when using Champix. I dont think i will be unsuccessful the way i'm doing it now...even at this early stage...but its always good to have a plan B. Thanks Again SRT8 Interesting take on the issue, not sure i agree with all of it...but absolutely agree with getting to a point of "acceptance", only for me its accepting i am not gonna smoke ever again...no matter whether I think I love it or hate it. Thanks for your encouragement Mike...much appreciated. :
