Get youself a portable fishfinder, not only will it allow you to find bait fish (the trout wont be far behind) and mark what depth the trout are roaming...you can find structure and actually watch the trout hit. Watching the trout's reaction to your presentation will tell you lots too....like if they actually like what your offering and also how they want you to serve it to them, generally trout want to chase. I just did a post straight jigging walleye yesterday using my fishfinder....and here's a dsample video of some Laker fishing i did last year...... <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RjaVaoRriSc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I am going to go for lakers in the morning and i have a better camera now...but have a look at minute 1:28 on the above video and my Lac Seul report i have just posted for an idea of what i'm talking about and if i go tomorrow i'll spend some time video my set up and the fish on the screen(lol...hopefully there will be some fish). Hope this helps. Simon. PS...the swivel set up is good too though...just thoght i'd share what works for me and since you said you wanted to jig...this method is a no brainer....if you have a fishfinder.

Fun post I think for me it depends where i'm fishing.....but wherever it is i dont like "the dreaded skunk", a good day on the water is better than a bad day......yada yada yada!

Hi all, Went to a small local lake and got into some nice walleye. I Thought the bite was panning out to be an evening bite but found some active walleye in the weeds by accident while messing around with the pike. A the wind dropped and the sun began to set the walleyes in the weeds dissappeared and i moved out deeper(11') and used a slip bobber as the fishfinder was showing the fish being very shy of biting. The calm conditions really lent themselves to this presentation and the walleye were far more willing to bite. A good 2 hours of relaxation after an afternoon of ripping drywall down in my washroom. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tio6gJyenu4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> NICE CHUNKY WALLEYES FOUND THE DAY WALKERS BY ACCIDENT WITH THIS CONTRAPTION SLIP BOBBERS AT SUNDOWN.........NICE!

Yeah...it must have hit there first. Whats the fishing been like....i went a couple of times recently...slow to say the least...all the spots i usually do well at have dried up, marking fish...no takers...fishfly hatch ya think? LOL...yeah...Jack's climber/slide went for a spin round the yard...was quite the scene watching my wife chase it around.....i would have gone out to help....but i'd just done my hair and did not want the wind and rain to ruin it

Hey Blair, yup...sucks to be me! No pics of karter's perch fest? I was gonna do a trip with jack that evening...but the sky looked ominous. Really glad we did stay back, even though the little lake we intended on going to is very sheltered, the wind the storm whipped up was scary LOL...thats what i said too when i walked outside and saw the clouds No probs CPH, my pleasure. Thanks Joey, cant take much credit though, the scenery was there and the point and shoot did the rest. LOL....i was wondering if anyone would notice Me too, I turned off the lights in the living room and Jack sat on my lap and we watched the show for half an hour....He loved it! Yeah the timing of the sunset was perfect! Thannx JDS! Me either, really strange.

Hi all, Just thought i'd announce my success....lol I quit smoking a month ago today. I'm pretty darned pleased with myself, never thought i'd ever even give up. Its been easy some days and a PIG on others. If anyone out there is considering giving it a go just do it! I cannot comment on any other methods people use to quit, but the patches so far have worked great for me. I have been playing around with not wearing them in the last week or 2 and can get by without them...but they do help. I definitely would suggest not wearing them at night....in fact i take mine off a good 3 hours before bedtime....i just use them for the first part of the day most days. Anyway....its early days yet....but i'm liking not being a smoker....hating the cravings and crabbiness though. I did have one really great experience last week. I was heading out for an early morning fish in the boat....the rush of air i could actually breathe in when i opened up the throttle on the tiller was awesome...not been able to breathe that clearly for 30 years!!!

Hi all, The mother of all thunderstorms rolled through here just before sunset, the cloud formations and colors it left behind were stunning....i grabbbed the camera and snapped away....enjoy.

LOL Dann, i could not believe i said that as i was putting the video together. It certainly broke the quiet from 4 hours of fishing with hardly a sniff of a fish! The net thing was awesome, went to lift and it just started to give, had to drag her to the side of the boat and lift vertically otherwise i'd own a net with a 90 degree bend in it! I did consider lipping it...NOT! I wish i was more popular, then i would not need to multitask so often...lol..fishing solo has made multitasking a necessity! Thanks spincast....it was a weird outing to say the least. If its fishing i'm good, when it comes to work...not so much....lol. This fish must have been around that area for years, it looked like it had been caught a few times before...i bet she is in a few pictures taken by Century lodge guests from over the years! Thanks Paul! what was really cool was that it was the first 'easy' trip since i quit smoking, despite no action for close to 4 hours i dont remember even thinking about a smoke the whole time....guess i was to bust cursing and trying to work out where all the fishes were and what could tempt them out of hiding! Thanks Joey, praise indeed from the the queenn of Mushkaaaay.

Hi all....went out for walleye on Eagle Lake today. To say the bite was slow is not an understatement....i got i walleye and i hammer handle Jackfish in close to 4hrs....before a 42" Musky grabbed my jig and minnow. I think the walleye were just waiting for an evening bite...as they really turned on at around 8pm, got my 4 walleye and 42" of musky for team 2! <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3uqzwI50_vU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Good to see ya back in action Cudz! No wonder that largie's eyes are popping out....he's looking at your beard! Which by the way is almost as good as the report...like it! And i agree with your psychoanalysis of smallies......"NUTS" Keep up the good work dude. -

Its ok in deep water...i straight jig for lakers in 80FOW and can watch them coming up for my jig. Also an awesome icefishing fishfinder. The transducer for the X47 is the same so you would just 'plug n play' so to speak. Your x47 should have the six pin plug right? anyway...it says on the Lowrance site that the X67c and X47 both use the HST-PSW transducer.
