Onebigtoe, feel free to PM me about Nipissing. I am on it every week and I contribute to several forums and read several blogs about daily fishing on Nipissing. I will tell you what I have read/ know but you have to decide on how you use that info. I hope gbfisher's "chip, chip, step" is not the reason for your board name ?

Rod Caster, Lots of 12" perch come from Nip each winter. I'm off at 4:30 we should walk out to a secret spot I know for some jumbos. Close to the gov. dock.

I guess there may be some fish meat in a hot daod. Mystery meat. Seroiusly I posted last year about the pike we caught with the cheese filled sausage in its stomach.
-
Tilly, PM me with the lake name (my guess would be Round Lake or Kenoagmi if it is close to town) and I'll give you the info you need. I was just fishing Kenogami during the holidays and we managed 2 walleye, 12 pike and 3 perch.

I was on Callander Bay today from 4:30 - 5:30. We brought a 6 x 8 shack out from the landing to in front of Lighthouse Island. We used my 1993 Skandic II 503R and even though it has lots of power, without the studded track we would not have been successful. It was WET. We drilled 2 holes and there is a solid 10" of ice under 5" of water and a 1" crust of ice on top. We pulled the shack until it got stuck in the slush then we blocked it up and left it there. 16' of water. No pictures. I tried with the cell phone but it was too dark. It will be worse tomorrow with the warm temps and rain. By Monday with a high of -7 things should begin to tighten up. I'll be bringing my 8 x 12 shack out at Links Beach on Monday with my sled. Be safe.

I am guessing it was not right out of the crate with the # 42 and after-market riser on it. If you are not doing any extreme powder riding then I would take it out. You won't need to shorten the cables and it could be added back on afterwards. It is a beautiful sled and I wish I owned one but you will find the ride better, more comfortable and easier to handle if you remove the riser.

Just thought I'd mention the 5th is the Nosbonsing walleye derby and it is also Superbowl weekend. Any other dates we want to toss around? -
How many holes in the floor? Can you keep a line in all night? We have holes in the corners and have lines fixed right to the wall. We fish all night, the bells wake us up.

Yep yellow 1/4 oz. jig tipped with a minnow. -
I spent a few days up North in the Kirkland Lake area. Both my wife and I are from there, and our parents both live on Lake Kenogami which is right on Hwy. 11 N. I got out a few days to play with my new Lowrance HDS5 ice system and man is it sweet. In 2 days of fishing we ended up with 2 walleye, 12 little pike, and 3 perch. Here is the picture of the only ones that count. They were YUMMY.For got my camera at the house so no fishing pics.

Ice fishing reels - line twists size matter? My wife says size doesn't matter.

Big Cliff, I ordered mine from Radioworld on line. They processed my order and shipped it out the same day. I had it in less than 24 hrs. Don't forget to order a second gimbal bracket if yours is still on your boat. The PPP-161 does not come with a bracket.

GoneFishing, I just bought the PPP-161 ice fishing pack for my HDS5 and I got a chance to play with it in the hut yesterday afternoon. I was in 12' and the HDS was picking up my 1/4 oz. jig tipped with a 1" gulp shiner. It was cool to see it wiggle on the bottom. Only problem I have is when I use my flasher it gives me a 3rd panel? I have played with all the settings and still can't get rid of the 3rd panel.

Lake Temagami ice update and an airboat ride.
Nipfisher replied to Nipfisher's topic in General Discussion
Not too rough at all but LOUD. Had to put on the ear-muffs before they stared the engine. -
I was out to Bear Island by air boat on Monday. Ice is solid at the end of the access road but there is open water off of Saskins point and Friday point which takes you out to the big water (hub). The air boat was a neat experiance. We were in water more then on snow but they keep following the same route which will become their ice road. Apparently keeping it broken up will actually allow it to freeze better. Here are some ice pics of the bay at the Mine launch. I didn't drill and holes but my guess was a solid 8" at leats. Chucks in the open water were at least 5" thick. Now some pics of the air boat. It was new to the reserve last year and on my trip there the hour meter on the engine was only 29 hrs. Still that is quite a few 15 minute trips.

does any one else have this flu from hell
Nipfisher replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
Our house has already been through the flu. 3 days of pooping/puking liquid with the accompanying fever, aches and pains. NOW it is the head cold / chest cold. Can't make up it's mind. Like living in a fog one day then so sore from coughing it is uncomfortable to sit in a seat the next. Sneezy and runny nose along with the dry "tickle" cough today.
