The Top 50 Pike series hosts a tourney there each year. There are still plenty of pike and bass in the area, I have heard to target the islands rather than shorelines.

A friend is looking to buy a 15' extension for his transducer cable as he is mounting a Mark IV HDI on his pontoon boat. Lowrance Canada only gave him the Navico phone number. Radio world has them on the website but are out of stock for 3-4 weeks. Any ideas?

Lew, our trailer is in Sturgeon Falls and I was in the boat the last 2 days around Iron Island. I was surprised how much weed growth there is already. Surface temps are still around 64 in open water and 68 in our shallow marina. Weed beds should be established by the time you come for the opener.

PM me and I will help you out. I have room in my driveway and I am only a minute from the bypass / Fisher St intersection.

I am late to this party, but well aware of the situation. Dan, I applaud your dedication (along with LNSA) to the fight. I for one am glad that Chief Marianna Couchie's term as NFN Chief has come to an end. Her ban this year for spearing was just smoke and mirrors as there was nothing in place to enforce it. Again, the moratorium on netting extended into the late spring was probably insignificant as well. Chief Couchie hid behind a few of her senior counsel members who were commercial fisherman. I hope change with continue from a new chief and new counsel. Still plenty of walleye being caught each night off of the docks and off shore. Just all smaller than the allowable slot limit. The MNR through poor decision making and cuts has done as much or more to hurt Lake Nipissing then the netting. Blair

Could you ice fish there? North Bay has a by-law stating no fishing in the marina.. Not sure anyone has challenged it?

We have stayed at the Weston Harbour Front hotel twice in the last 2 years (February) and there have been guys fishing off the wall both times. Lots of parking in the mall next door. Not sure if it is good fishing or not but it will get you started.

Some smaller minnow style cranks or spinners may get you some more of the small pike for fun. But there has to be a few bigguns in there.
