oldphart replied to oldphart's topic in General Discussion
~~~I could tell you why but it would be deemed a politically incorrect answer and I'd get banned from this website. I'm still on their radar -
~~~Gus is down in Arizona, I believe, and Steve still on the Pro circuit
-
~~~I'm a widdle peed off that they are thunken of changing the words to O'Canada again, we were taught the song in the 50s, then later in the 70s it was changed, never liked that versions.so even if they do decide to change it again, I won't bother
-
~~~Got out Sunday with a buddy Paul, launched at Sibs winds seemed light when we headed out, but came on fast, causing the lake to push some large rollers at us, which were tight together, making it real hard to phish, the Scouts were tight to the wind blown shore, where all the bait was blown into. So we stayed out deep marking some phish, but not a lot, moved all the way around Georgina. with nothing to show, for the day but our smiles for just being on the water

~~~Sunday Slug came over and helped me get her ready for the water, (had some problems with the Trolling motor still, going back to the shop) we headed up to Lady Simcoe to just wet some line and get out. Launched at Sibs lots of room, still seems like some people don't know how to park, or launch, all want to launch next to the docks, then tie up and walk away leaving their boat there. we headed out up the west side of Georgina, spotted our scouts showing us where the bait phish were, in 43' of water, and had the first Jumbo Perch in the well right off the bat, and ever have one of those daze where you get the first phish as soon as you set up then Nada. We decided to move in shallower, to 39', and came a cross some more of our scouts sitting in on large area, watched the screen and marked some massive schools, so we lowered the anchor, and started again and it was great phishen spotted bait phish all over the place with hooks diving in and out of them, brought our lines up high and wham some major hits only to phind some great looken Herring on out lures (DRAT). Ended the Day about 2:30 with 6 nice Jumbos releasing a lot of dinks as usual, and 5 Herring(Released)
~~~~~How else are you to mark your territory, I marked all 4 corners of my yard, and kicked dirt back at the neighbour

~~~Like one of those daze, you could shoot your self in the foot and miss, Or like back in the 80s Star Derby, was out all day washing lures, when finally I get hit on the port rod, have a great fight, and get one of the biggest Kings I've seen at the boat net ready, and the line snaps damn! When the starboard rod goes off again another great fight this time in the net, only to find out it was the same King we just lost, the Celo was still in his mouth, and it had snagged the other lure, Weighed in at 39.6 (3rd Place). Or lose a rod over board on a rough day, while trying to set it in the rigger, then bring the rigger up hear a strange noise look down and there's the rod snagged on the cable. Some one was smiling on me that day.
~~~You just may get that call, I'm hard on my boat, enjoying back lakes and foul weather, and pounding the waves, which really puts a lot of stress on that part of the boat where the bow plate meets the keel. I know I coluld or should have taken out the foreward decks and storage locker, then the foam, and maybe had it welded, put it would have melted the rubber seal between the plate and the hull.
-
~~~Stress, and old age, also could be those northern lake with rocky shore lines. driving the boat on to the trailer, little too hard, who knows boat done me well and love it
~~~~Well finally repaired the crack in my bow plate, hardest part for me was just getting down on the ground flat on my back, under the boat. Started my hammaring off the old JB Weld that I had on there, which hadn't held up, and cracked. then using one of those sandpaper wheels, I sanded off all the old gunk I had tried in the past, and got the plate down to bare metal all nicely rought up then drilled 2 small hole at each end of the crack so it wouldn't spread, trying a new product to me JB Marine Weld, says it sets in 25 min. and hardens in 15 hours so I mixd up 2 packs of it squeezing all I could get out of the tubes, on to a clean surface, I allowed it to sit there for 20min. till it was almost firm then use a small scraper applied the Marine Weld to the crack first to get as much up the crack as I could, then spread the rest up both sides of the crack, laying it on thick, didn't want ti applie it too early, otherwize it just drops off. turned on a heat lamp underneath to speed up the drying time. It looks great best job I've ever done. now to get it wet

~~~~My dad was in Italy, one of those D-Day Dodgers. But one major fact that I like to rub in our couisin noses, is the only actual film of the first wave landing were taken by Canadian Camera crews
~~~~Jack is one great phishery, with logs stump sticking up on one end, lots of bass, some nice size walleye near the river mouth, trout down the far end in the deep holes, and skis just off the shore lines in about 20' great for trolling, and oh yea plenty of crappies if you can find them

~~~~ Years ago waiting at the Ramp at the Glades, some twit was pharting around with his sailboat, trying to get it just right on the trailer, finally he has got it and away he goes. Then eveyone one started for him to stop, he forgot his mast was still up, and had just snagged the power lines crossing the road. Luckly he stopped in time -
