  6. From the Toronto Star Website People in Toronto are reporting feeling tremors at about 1:45 p.m. today. Workers in office buildings reported feeling the buildings shake. "It felt like the building was swaying," said Alex Carter, who works in a tower at Bloor and Yonge Sts. In Ottawa, dozens of members of the national press gallery poured out onto the streets across from Parliament Hill as a tremor shook the National Press Building. Public servants and political staffers also began to empty their offices as the realization set in. The tremors shook for about 30 seconds. The U.S. Geological Survey reported this afternoon that the quake was 5.5 on the Richter scale, and was centred on the Ontario-Quebec border 19 kilometres deep.
  7. Yonge and Eglinton...yes I felt it!!!
  8. Hello everyone! I know I haven't been around much. I still got on here a few times a week to see what was going on, but due to some personal issues, posting wasn't much of a priority for me. Have I gone out fishing much this year? Nope...apart from a few shore expiditions, I have not wet a line. But I'm hoping on that changing for the rest of the season. I was reading all the Lakair threads and I thought I'd share a little of what's been going on for me as of late. A lot of my time is spent with my daughter Sydney. She and I both love doing things outdoors. In the past I've posted about her and I collecting tadpoles, caterpillars, making an outdoor skating rink etc. Her latest thing are frogs. A few weekends ago, we headed to a local conservation area to fish and see what kind of wildlife was around. It was great to see her with a fishing rod in hand again Here's her first fish of the year. Soon after, she heard the "croak croak" of the many bullfrogs that line this pond. The fishing rod was put away and she desperately searched for the source of the croaks! We finally caught one...and she was elated! We now have 3 smaller ones at home, in a "habitat" where they have lots of room to hop around. She is facsinated seeing them "hunt" down the feeder crickets that we have for them! You may or may not have noticed a little "Fishing" publication that came out called the "Outsider". It has a circulation of 400,000 copies across Canada, and I was lucky enough to grace the back cover! Oh yeah...just so I can say I went fishing and caught a fish (ok ok ok...some would debate whether or not this is a real fish or not....LOL), here's the only thing I've been able to tease out of the waters. Finally, this past Lakair weekend was also Father's Day. I spent the entire day with Sydney. The first thing we did was visit my own dad at the cemetary. I brought her there in the past, but she was a little too young to really understand why we were there. This time though she was full of questions about what he was like. She wondered who the other people in the family plot were. She wanted to walk around and look at all the other plots in the area. She said "It's not scary here Daddy...I like it here". We stayed for over an hour...talking and walking...it was so great to see her so interested in the family she never knew in person. Here's a picture of Sydney and I saying hi to my Dad. (note, the family name has been expertly removed from the photo thanks to a board member) I do want to thank everyone for the PMs, phone calls and visits over the past months. You all know who you are...and I really do appreciate your support, friendship and concern. Life is a journey...just follow the path...and you'll get to where you are supposed to be going...eventually.
  9. Glad someone caught fish!!! Scary stuff seeing someone driving the wrong way on the highway...glad you avoided that potential disaster! Great pics....but home come there are none of you holding a fish????
  10. Thanks for sharing those pics! Certainly missed seeing everyone this year! Seems lack of fish was the common thread...but that weekend isn't just about the fish!
  11. Thanks for the pictures! Sure missed being up there this year...looks like a great time was had by all as usual! Glad to see the southern contingent made it there and safely back home. The one good thing about this is that no one can blame me for the lack of fish caught!! LOL.
  12. Loved this post! Thanks for sharing! My daughter would wail at the sight of reindeer soup though...LOL. Great pictures...hats off to your mom!
  13. I see the OFC Anthem link has disappeared...may be time to post this again!
  14. Had troubles when I first loaded it on my Blackberry, but went into brower options and enabled tables and style sheets and its much better! Love this view. Great job Rick!
  15. Ok...got it loaded now. The profile pictures on my blackberry seem to large...can you auto downsize them to a standard size for this skin?
  16. Is it the lo-fi choice from the drop down menu?
  17. Thanks everyone! Gotta love the internet! I checked every Toys r us, Futureshop, Best Buy and EB games in Toronto and area. Terry is right...you can get the game but not the entire kit. I was finally told by the guy at EB games that it's likely discontinued now...as the new Rock Band 3 is coming out later this year. I did however find a guy selling ALL his Wii stuff...but wiling to sell just his RB 2 and accessories...working on price now... Thanks again everyone!
  18. It's my daughter's 8th birthday coming up next week, and all she wants is Rock Band 2 for the Wii system. She played it at a friends house recently. Figured I'd just go pick one up...but NO! I cant find it anywhere. If anyone has a lead on it, please send me an email to [email protected] as the site is going down shortly! I am willing to drive an hour or so from Durham region to pick it up. New or used...doesn't matter... But will need the kit...including the game disc, wireless drums, guitar and microphone. Any help would be appreciated! thanks!
  19. Just click on the following link to go to the OFC Store... http://www.ofnstore.com/
  20. Nothing fancy, but some nice fish have been boated in our two watercraft
  21. I picked the 13th...it's the License free weekend...a great chance for everyone to get out there! http://www.familyfishingweekend.com/Winter.cfm
  22. Do what I did....start out with a really inexpensive boat and motor...lol. Haven't dinged a prop yet...but then again if there's any question I don't try it. I can't trim up my motor...it's either down or all the way up...so I have to be careful what launches to do that on.
  23. Try this link Rich... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_NUX1_9-y0
  24. Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to to a Christmas CD for next year...taking advanced orders now...LOL. I use my band's PA...a Yamaha M810 for recording. I will only use condenser microphones now (they are sooo much more sensitive and captures the highs and lows much better than a regular microphone) and you need a powered head to use them. I record into that "vocal mic" you see in the picture. I use the output on the PA straight into the computer. I've tried a bunch of commercial software packages before to record, but I always go back to the one shown on the screen here...it's free...and downloadable on the net. It's called Audacity. Simple to use and has great results.
  25. I had a few people ask to hear my acoustic version of Silent Night, so I threw a little video together the other night. Thanks for all your kind comments on my other video...hope you enjoy this one as well.
