  1. Trib conditions this way were pretty much the same yesterday in my area (east of Toronto). They did clear up a bit today...about 7 to 8 inches of vis, but I had the little one and didn't fish. Maybe I'll try my luck at some night drifting tonite. Good luck your next time out!
  2. Awesome stuff Tom! Cant wait to get into some nice eyes on the soft water!! Nice report and pics.
  3. Scott...where I normally fish for steelies is normally like what you just described...LOL. I'm hoping the waters clear throughout the day and maybe bly and I will hit a spot tonite.
  4. One tune that I listen to for stuff like roadtrips and special events is Life's Been Good...either Joe Walsh's version...but the version I like is from a live one the Eagles released years ago.
  5. Introducing my youngest (age 4 at the time) to fishing....Here's he first fish ever!! The smile and excitement was priceless...she wants to fish any opportunity she gets...we've had to bribe her off off docks after nine hours of fishing last summer!! My 14 year old getting in to the action as well. My wife, bly on a peaceful summer night.... My dad...who introduced me to fishing...our last trip before he passed away just 7 months later. And....my only daytime Walleye picture!
  6. Happy birthday!!! Great day of steelheading there! Congrats on both accounts. Awesome pics and info shared in your post. Thanks a million!
  7. It's all been worked out via PM with CC and this kid....they are ok about it now.
  8. LOL....where were these games 8 weeks ago when it was -20C out there? Could have made the winter go by more quickly!!!
  9. Ok..I know that trout are big in the tribs in the spring and fall. Throw in the salmon run in the fall, and there's lots of exciting fishing going on! Ok...so...is there much to be had during the summer months in the tribs? Are the trout still there or do they head for deeper colder water in Lake Ontario? Thanks everyone!
  10. Wow...looked like an awesome time! Glad you got out and did some fishing. Thanks for posting the pics...it's nice to see species that are not found around here. Now...why didn't you bring that warm weather back with you?? LOL.
  11. Great report! I'm sure once you get back into it and change up some of your gear, you'll be hauling them in! I'm going to try a bunch of east end tribs next weekend...going to be much milder and they should clear up pretty well by then. Good luck! Hey BTW...I grew up in Ajax...lived there from 1974 until 2002....I'm in Whitby now...I know...didn't move too far...haha.
  12. Hmmm...you wanna know how many times I thought the same thing??? LOL. Thanks Mike..I'll bring one in again soon I hope!!!
  13. Good point! Will keep it in mind the next time. No offense taken fishfinder...you have a good reputation for the art of steel on here....so I'll take advice from you any day!
  14. Why does this NOT surprise me?? LOL (awesome report for you BTW). I'll get better at this steelhead thing...I have a good teacher....and I'm not one to give up on things.
  15. If you want to be even more gross...take a look at the video of a hook extraction from someone's eye....makes me queasy just thinking about it!!! <BR><BR> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value=" name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
  16. Nice pics! I know what you mean about blown tribs...pretty much the same around here. Let's hope for lots of reports from you and I this time next week after they've had a chance to calm down a little! Good luck!
  17. And that's why you are the master and I'm the student....LOL. Great job Scott!!! I'm so jealous!!!! At least I had one on the line....better than I expected frankly. So...are you going out tomorrow morning?? I'm free....LOL
  18. I took today off work to do some steelheading! I headed out to a local trib and got there before sunrise. I brought a flashlight to check out visibilities...cause if it sucked I was going to try somewhere else. Anyhow, a quick check showed about 6 inches of visibility!! Much better than when I checked it last evening...couldn't see even a few inches. Me being a relative newbie to Steelheading tribs, I thought that when the ice melted off, it simply broke free and headed downstream. Little did I know that with the +15C temps a few days ago the trib must have rose at least 4 feet and all it did was dump the ice on the banks. It was quite the awesome sight! (If anyone can recognize this trib from this pic, then you probably already know it intimately...so I think I'm safe in posting it) Anyhow, there was lots of slush coming down stream, so it was difficult getting a true drift going. I managed it for a while and was getting the hang of it. I moved around after drifting for about 15 minutes or so per area. My line, float, sinkers and rod were freezing up with a nice layer of ice every 5 minutes or so, so that was a pain in the butt. At one spot, another angler stopped to chat...asking if I had any luck yet. I said "nope...nothing". As soon as I said that, my float went under!!! I set the hook hoping it wasn't just a rock or wood, and I was greeted with the lovely sound of drag peeling off my reel. It took me a good 5 minutes to get the fish close to me. I was getting all excited...it was a big one (at least for me). This was over 30 or so inches and had bright red spawning colours. I tried to make sure it was all tired out before trying to get it out of the water. I was just reaching for the gill plate when it turned directions and my leader snapped!!! I was touching the fish when the leader went....and alas, it swam away. I looked down and noticed that my leader snapped about 3 inches above the hook...there was so much ice build up on everything that I think it may have been nicked. Oh well.... I fished a few more hours without a sniff...then the water started to muddy up again. I was home by 12...telling my story of the "one that got away"........
  19. So, you're saying I shouldn't post GPS coordinates of all the spots I catch fish on the tribs? Why did I buy the darned thing? LOL.
  20. Wayne....when I called the bus company, they were all sold out...that report of yours had thousands of PM whizzing around OFC lemme tell ya. I would have driven there, but I have no idea where Temagami is....LOL.
  21. LOL...let's see...we had 15 degree weather for two days....the ice on the tribs has broken up...when the tribs swell, the fish run....hmmmm....geez...no one would think maybe to fish right? I'm a complete newbie to Steelheading, but I at least know that much...do you not think that ppl will be out anyways....whether CC posted his report or not?
  22. Wow...nice first post. CC is a classy guy...dont see why you felt the need to post this. I am a Walleye guy who was looking to expand my fishing experience, and he helped me out...CC shares his experiences on here....shares tips and applauds other people who do well. We never ask where his secret spots are and he doesn't post them publicly. If that is not what ff.net was like, then I can see why he is here and not there.
  23. That's what I love about this board too. People on here have helped me out a lot!!! The encouragement goes a long way too. This is truly a community I'm glad that I have found...it's made my experiences better.
  24. Great work Scott!! Just when you think there's no way anyone can get some steelies, you go out and show us how it's done!
