I bought one of these and have used it for years...maybe 3 to 4 times a year. It's been a lifesaver for us on trips to the US. It was the best 150 bucks I've spent. Click here to see product..... It has a seal that goes all around the carrier, but I've noticed when driving in rain and little does get in. I line the bottom wit a tarp and that does the trick.

I heard the CBC is making a TV movie about his hockey and family life. It was ritten by his son. At any rate...like him or not, he's an excellent ambassador for Canadian hockey!

Glad to see you posted this report and pics Steve! Yep...I figure the same thing....if anyone can recognize a spot from a foot of shoreline and a few trees and grass then by all means go fishing there. The conditions of the tribs change by the hour...just because you see fish in those picds doesn't mean they'll be there a few hours from then. Anyhow, great stuff Steve!

Another Fishing Outing turned Nature Watching NF
ccmtcanada replied to Ben_Daniels's topic in General Discussion
Great report! One time, while trib fishing at night I was drifting for some trout when the crowds were not around...just me and the sound of gently running water, the trees, and peace and quiet. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any hits. Suddenly it sounds like someone dropped a cinder block from a height of about 100ft into the water. I jumped out of my skin, my heart rate went to about 200, and I almost dropped my fishing rod. Seems I was sharing this part of the trib with a beaver. Love the pics!! Soon that area will be teaming with fish....still a bit early....seems everything is a bit late this year. -
Happy Birthday Jen! Hope you have a great one...enjoy your 29th!

Great job again CC! Yep...levels are rising and mudding up as we speak. The board wasn't the same when you were not posting reports...all is right again in the world....LOL.

It's a great magazine! My wife won a subscription last year.... We didn't win the lottery though....LOL

Hey Lakeshore.... There is a Magnetawan Bait and tackle up there...get a lake map...it helped me out greatly last summer. I think they are only 6 bucks and they are laminated, It has locations where species hang out at different times of the year. Woodland Echoes in the Mag also has these maps.....I'm sure the gas station on the 520 heading into the town also has them. Good luck!

Welcome back! I'm gonna miss those bass reports from down south. Glad to hear the drive was uneventful!!

spinning reel cleaning (old post, slightly modified)
ccmtcanada replied to goteeboy's topic in General Discussion
Excellent post! I may practice on one of my reels that I no longer use to make sure I don't mess anything up on something expensive... I'll be taking TONS of pictures as I take it apart though...that's great advice. -
Here's an example... The tubing comes with the floats that I buy...or you can buy a length of it and cut as necessary. The second tube above the float is for holding a night stick if fishing at night...you'd be surprised how many of those things fly off when you cast...LOL.
-
After seeing the pics, I'd just cut it off from underneath...the faucets/spout should be able to be pulled thru the top....if you need longer supply tubes then they are available pretty inexpensively.

Great post Gerritt...I can almost fill in the blanks as to what you are thinking....LOL

The New Boat is Home... And a Towing question
ccmtcanada replied to Wendel's topic in General Discussion
I got a new trailer last fall. I found at lower speeds the trailer would move all over the road, but once I hit a certain speed it got better. Once I had it up on blocks I spun the wheels and noticed they were not centered on the hub. Whoever put it together put the self centering lug nuts on backwards They had the tapered end of the nuts facing out instead of in....quick fix and all seems fine now. -
Need a new fishing partner ...After today!

Ahem....I do read this board quite thoroughly....LOL -
When I started steelhead fishing, I posted a "skunk review" that went across about 5 outings! The important thing is that you learn from you experience. At least you got out there and gave it your best...you cant catch fish at home after all! Keep at it...you'll get the fish, and I hope you post your successes! Great scenery shots by the way!

Steelhead Question: Different fish fighting techniques?
ccmtcanada replied to a topic in General Discussion
It took me a little practice, but I can get a steelhead in pretty quickly on my spinning gear. I think the rod plays a bigger part....and how you play the fish. I will sometimes leave the drag looser than needed and thumb the spool if I feel the fish starting to get further away than I want it too. Confidence in leader material affects how I fight a fish....obviously different depending on whether I'm using 4lbs test for clear waters or 6lb test for cloudy waters/night fishing. I admit though, I have never used a centerpin -
I certainly did NOT kiss that sucker...LOL. I did eat doug's steelie though...was great between a few slices of bread. Felt sick to my stomach after though....
-
If you are not prepared to stream harden them like fishindevil said, pick up some distilled water at the grocery store...get it nice and cold and rinse it off. I've been told that tap water isn't good for them...although some have tried it with no problems.
-
I thought you called douG a fish Pigeonfisher, since he's the one with all the mud on him....LOL. Had another great day douG...too bad the conditions sucked! Hopefully we'll have some more time out there...gotta get you a new PB....I suppose there is only one way to go from there....up..... Suckers in the tribs is a bad sign...action tends to slow down once they get in there. Thanks again for the awesome sandwiches too...we should have you come on all our outings...at least we'll be fed well.
