  1. It depends how deep the water is that you are fishing. When we take our little one panfishing, the water is usually between 2 and 4 feet deep. Simple worm an hook will catch most panfish. I will generally start out by placing the bobber so that the worm/hook is just off bottom. If nothing happens, then I'll raise it 6 inches at a time until there is some action. The best places to put your line is near some kind of structure.....docks, weeds, rocks, walls etc.... Where are you located? Panfish shouldn't be too difficult to find.
  2. Ok...I'm working on a project that I'll be posting up on the board in a few weeks and I need a LOT of pics. The pictures I have captured already have all been publicly posted here in the past, but to tell you the truth, my eyes are going zonkers reading all the great threads from the past....and there are some from the previous boards that I cannot get to for obvious reasons. I'm looking for your funniest or favourite fishing pics....preferably clearly showing a board member as well. If you post a pic on here, please indicate which board member is in the shot. I will try to use as many of them as I can, but I will have to pick and choose which ones make it into the final project. I may be PMing a few of you where I have one in mind, but cannot find it anywhere. Thanks...hopefully you will not be disappointed in the final product. Oh yeah...don't ask me what the project is, cause I wont tell you....hehe.
  3. It's already starting....2 major world factors.... 1) Oil prices and high gas prices. We all know it now costs more to drive our cars and operate our boats. Airlines are implementing/increasing fuel surcharges again. Trucking companies have to raise their freight rates, which in turn increases the price we'll pay for ALL goods. 2) World rice/grain prices are at or approaching record highs. Some people think oh well....I don't eat rice or much grain, but it's not what WE eat that is going to hurt. The price for feed for cattle is rising big time! Within a few months the price we all pay for meat will begin to rise...but there's a double whammy here...gas prices raise the cost of operating a farm AND transporting the meat to market. The writing has been on the wall for a while now....the world is just too slow to react.
  4. What an amazing report and pics! They sure make them fish big down there....LOL.
  5. Happy belated birthday!! And congrats on your first few Walleye...hope they tasted great! It's great to see all this shore fishing success too...just goes to show that if you do some legwork, you can be successful.
  6. Great report! Glad I could help as far as the motor stand was concerned....great addition having those big wheels on it! Love the test pic....maybe Terry can photoshop a pic in there for you....LOL.
  7. What a great first report!! Welcome back to the site...hope you decide to stick around. Great story writing, great pics....it's all there. I hope to see many more reports from you this year!
  8. Wow....great report and pics....and a buffalo to boot! Keep the reports coming!
  9. Glen....the shirtless posts return. I was hoping we'd have a good month before this happened.... Great report and pics as always...too bad the wimmins didn't wanna fish with you!!
  10. Wow....great report!! Awesome pictures, some fish caught and lots of smiles...a recipe for a great long weekend. Congrats on a great one!

  12. Wish I could afford to!!
  13. Looked like a great weekend all around Mike! Friends, family and fishing....doesn't get much better than that. Great pics too...thanks for taking the time to post this one!
  14. Those public boards are great!! We had a travel board in the community center at University of Western Ontario. There were two sections.....one for people looking for rides and one for drivers who were available. I used that service to get from London to the Toronto area many times early on and then took on passengers once I got a car in my last few years there.
  15. Hey Stoty....keep your eye here.... http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tix/ Good luck.
  16. Ahem.....jeez...you call this being discreet? I'll call the doc asap. Just let me know what day and when and I'll come by and see you....preferably after 4pm if possible?
  17. Great idea Gerritt! I carpool with someone every weekday. Just drop her off at the subway station as she works downtown TO. It does help offset the price of gas.....
  18. Sounds like you are going to have a great time! Stay safe and remember....lots of pics!!!
  19. Dan...I'm with you. There are a few things I don't attempt if I'm not sure about something. One is electrical stuff....I know how to do basic stuff, but if I'm unsure, I get my buddy over to do it. The other thing is brakes on the car....I keep getting told they are easy, but until I learn how to do it properly, I'm not putting me or my family in jeopardy to save a few bucks.
  20. Sounds like too much line on your spool. or One thing I do when casting a spinning reel is I hold the line on the rod with my index finger, and then open the spool.....that way there is a little tension between that spot and the reel. The line shouldn't "loop" off. When I cast, I just take my index finger off the line.
  21. Them's fightin' words!!! LOL
  22. I heard the same thing from my local tackle shop....he suggested using at least 30lb power pro. He said that 20lb is really thin and can groove the eyes.
  23. Hey now...the barbie rod kicks butt!!! LOL
  24. Good stuff! I know you were out there to test your canoe setup right? Fishing was secondary and you still got into a few. Success on all accounts!
