  1. Congrats on your first pike!!! I'm a bit jealous...you got to go fishing, I got to drive 6 hours to Michigan on Saturday to see the in-laws, and then 6 hours on Sunday to come home....LOL. Great report...hope to see more in the near future!
  2. Great report and pics! I have yet to get into a whitefish...heard they smell like cucumbers....LOL.
  3. Way to go MJL! The scenery there is almost as nice as my home carp waters....LOL. You had to work for your fish, but I'd take 13 fish anyday!
  4. Yep...can relate to it for sure! Especially if it's a new lake, or to target a new species! You are not alone...that's for sure!
  5. Hey guys! What a great report. It's great that you guys got together like that...it's what this community is all about! If it were up to me, I would have been there, but I'm typing this from the in-laws place in Michigan....LOL
  6. Hey JWL! What a great intro! Thanks for that...from the looks of it, you will fit right in on this board. You said something about contributing....you already have...not only with this intro, but with some awesome pics you added to my thread. Thanks!
  7. Be sure to install it in the proper location. For instance, I see a lot of them on the corner of a deck...that's the wrong place. The idea is to place it away from where you will be sitting....so if you are worried about a deck, then place it away from it or else you are just attracting them where you will be hanging around. Others will place them so that the direct path to the zapper takes them across the deck as well. Anyhow, you probably get the picture.
  8. Thanks everyone for your replies so far!! These are just what I needed. If you'd like to be immortalized in this project, be sure to search your old pics and upload them here. Preferably, at least 800x600 resolution and let me know the board member name of who is in the pic. Thanks again!
  9. Stinger is a lower level brand, but still does the job. Just make sure that the replacement parts are available in your area before you purchase!
  10. I don't have a starting battery...can I use a pull rope with it?
  11. LOL....I guess I was just owned....
  12. We went to see him as he came through Ajax... What a great event for us school kids!!
  13. Wait a minute Will.... I don't remember the invite to this weekend? Hmmmm..... Must be lost in the mail.....LOL
  14. Can I get that in a tiller?
  15. I had them for the canoe and they worked great! Used them a few times while night fishing. They are inexpensive and easy to attach and remove. Bought mine at Canadian Tire....cant remember exactly how much they were though.
  16. Thanks! I already snagged that one. I'll let you know if I need it any bigger!
  17. Yep....Tbayboy got a nice one with my HUGE catch...but believe it or not, it wasn't my smallest. My season opener for 2007 was a good one, with me landing this monster perch. My 5 year old and I had a competition on catching fish....I lost big time.
  18. I had nothing to do with it....honest!
  19. Great pics Stoty and limeyangler! Ummm...thanks Grant....any others?? LOL And AG....Tatoo was an INTEGRAL part of that series....
  20. Thanks Gerritt! I also took a look at that place....and it looks quite inviting! Hopefully we'll be able to spend some time up there with the family this year as well.
  21. It depends how deep the water is that you are fishing. When we take our little one panfishing, the water is usually between 2 and 4 feet deep. Simple worm an hook will catch most panfish. I will generally start out by placing the bobber so that the worm/hook is just off bottom. If nothing happens, then I'll raise it 6 inches at a time until there is some action. The best places to put your line is near some kind of structure.....docks, weeds, rocks, walls etc.... Where are you located? Panfish shouldn't be too difficult to find.
  22. Ok...I'm working on a project that I'll be posting up on the board in a few weeks and I need a LOT of pics. The pictures I have captured already have all been publicly posted here in the past, but to tell you the truth, my eyes are going zonkers reading all the great threads from the past....and there are some from the previous boards that I cannot get to for obvious reasons. I'm looking for your funniest or favourite fishing pics....preferably clearly showing a board member as well. If you post a pic on here, please indicate which board member is in the shot. I will try to use as many of them as I can, but I will have to pick and choose which ones make it into the final project. I may be PMing a few of you where I have one in mind, but cannot find it anywhere. Thanks...hopefully you will not be disappointed in the final product. Oh yeah...don't ask me what the project is, cause I wont tell you....hehe.
  23. It's already starting....2 major world factors.... 1) Oil prices and high gas prices. We all know it now costs more to drive our cars and operate our boats. Airlines are implementing/increasing fuel surcharges again. Trucking companies have to raise their freight rates, which in turn increases the price we'll pay for ALL goods. 2) World rice/grain prices are at or approaching record highs. Some people think oh well....I don't eat rice or much grain, but it's not what WE eat that is going to hurt. The price for feed for cattle is rising big time! Within a few months the price we all pay for meat will begin to rise...but there's a double whammy here...gas prices raise the cost of operating a farm AND transporting the meat to market. The writing has been on the wall for a while now....the world is just too slow to react.
  24. What an amazing report and pics! They sure make them fish big down there....LOL.
  25. Happy belated birthday!! And congrats on your first few Walleye...hope they tasted great! It's great to see all this shore fishing success too...just goes to show that if you do some legwork, you can be successful.
