  1. I do my small motors by just checking most years due to low hour use. With engine VERY slightly tilted up I pull the top (vent) plug and see if the unit is full. Oil lightly trickles out and then quickly reinstall the plug. New plastic washers are a plus, but not always necessary pending condition. Then I pull the lower fill / drain plug quickly. If there's water it will come out first, as it's heavier than oil, otherwise the same blue oil you put in previous years will come out. If there is any visual hint it looks diluted or too runny, drain it and refill.
  2. Very Nice Dan.. another to buy Christmas presents for!
  3. .. or at your door Brian! Not sure if Rick retired or not. Wayne has...
  4. This lad is about 35 I would say...
  5. Bruce Ward has retired from the MNR !! Meet a really nice new CO today, saw the truck parked at my gate and then this poor guy walking the 1200 feet to the house so I meet him 1/2 way. He has taken the reins from Wayne Lintack and Rick Williams. He's absolutely down to earth, looking for law breakers and nobody else. We had a good chat about conservation licences and Musky fishing, local hunters, poachers and many other things. If you see anything amiss in Simcoe County call him and report it directly. Tell him I gave you the number. Joseph Fralick 705 796 1699
  6. Just home from the lake Cliff and not the first thing I wanted to read. So sorry to hear of Sue's passing. I know there are lots of memories to keep you moving forward, but be sure to fill that now vacant feeling with family and friends. Wayne
  7. Apparently Henry's is now listed for sale.. so check they are actually open before making the treck!
  8. Nice outing Boss !! Seemed like nobody was home when I ripped through your SF yard at 100mph on the 10th!!
  9. Tips... if you are tenting, go to CTC and buy some of the large mouse sticky trays to put across your door opening. Tent caterpillars are like a Hitchcock movie right now. The park is a moving... They are starting to cocoon though as of the last few days, so it's starting to get better. If you stand right at the very ends of the "break wall" docks to the main park marina (boat ramp one), there is a hump that comes up to about 6 feet approximately 60 feet out from the docks. Weight and a float for the cast, but a possible spot for you. That and right along the cliff wall by the old museum that is now a rentable cabin. It's 32 feet deep along the rock wall, so if the kids are small make sure they're tied to a tree or wearing a PFD. I've caught my largest summer 'eyes in Portage Bay by simply casting off my dock around 7pm. I'm directly across from site #11. If you did want to take them out in a boat, you can rent a power boat from Lakeland Airways 705-569-3455, Leisure Island Houseboats 705-569-3261 or Doug Gear on Campfire Island right beside the park 705-569-4321. You can tell any of them Wayne sent you.. some may charge you less.. some more! LOL
  10. Glad you had fun and found sun. It's been far and few between with it's rare showings the past month. Bugs are a plenty and tent caterpillars so bad you'd think you're in a Hitchcock movie! Great outing with Dad Andrew, nice report to come home to and find to read!
  11. Wake up tomorrow... make it up from there!
  12. WAIT>>> WAIT... there is hope... https://www.muskokaregion.com/news-story/7362950-henry-s-set-to-open-june-23
  13. Well I guess there was no real interest for advise. Have a good trip...
  14. Funny, but to the point. Mandatory to have the trailer registration with you, the days of running what ever trailer plate you could find in the barn are (unfortunately) gone.
  15. Yes.. but I suspect just an old fart (like I) that can't judge age with beauty! I've flown over 200 young eagle flights (8 to 16 year olds).. the 10 to 14 year old girls by average are 75% better than the boys at taking control and maintaining level flight. I'd take a female commercial pilot over the men any day to get me safely where I wanted to go.. and no my wife pilot, nor her kid sister are looking over my shoulder! When I get back North I'll have to ask Darren that owns Lakeland how often he gets tipped, when it's $775/hr to be delivered.
  16. If you're wet on disembarkment.. NO !! Sorry Cliff, all I can offer other than HAVE FUN!!!!!
  17. Jesus... looks like it must have been a Friday with those shirts!!! :canadian: Great stuff guys, glad to see the tradition continues!
  18. Absolutely a good feeding fish when you have 6 people for supper and only 2 people fishing a cold spring fed back lake! . Cjones, let me know who's boat you're renting. Not sure Ferguson Bay is the most scenic area that you could treat yourself to on Lake Temagami. If it's the sand beach that's the draw, I can tell you now that it's covered in red ants and garbage from those that came before you. There's better places to explore!
  19. Good luck.. wish I'd stayed for a few more days instead of coming home, could have used $600 bucks!! Seriously, I've watched guys troll around our bay now for 2.5 weeks and not a net out once. Generally the wife and I get 2 every night before the Stanley cup is done. Weather has been a nightmare to say the least and I hope you guys packed lots of DEET and full bug suits! It's not nice to say the least.. and why we chose to come home for a few days.
  20. Need to drop in there again when you're home...
  21. Moosebunk has it about right.. bring Whiskey! Bass JUST started cleaning their bottom nesting sites last night... picture is between my dock and shore. They are everywhere and becoming a "pest" on the "Lake Trout" lake that Temagami truly is. Catch them all, they taste as good as most fish when deep fried and chased with some MaCallan. You renting Lakeland or Leisure Island's boat?
  22. That's the "line" they're using anyhow Bill ! Guess there's no more cottage kids up there that are close enough to boat over to FPIsland to work, that parents aren't just handing money to..... instead of them getting out and earning their own money!
  23. All three of my Honda's (1000, 2500 and 3500) have fuel shut offs. Fuel gauge, pop the cap.. look in!
