  1. John... I turned the shaft around on mine (hense the pic of me moving the bearing to the other end) to get a fresh shaft end for the housing bearing and then welded the worn end into the clutch housing. Mine did exactly what you are describing... stayed engaged.. and it was just the fact the shaft was no longer being held in the center and the clutch pads where hitting the drive housing.
  2. Going on season 7 for my cheap "Mercury" branded batteries in the bow for the trolling motor. They charge up just as fast as they did when new and last for days pulling my Lund around... now I jinxed myself....
  3. Mine was the shaft wore or was inproperly tapered... yours might be the centrifical clutch pads fell apart! (picture 3 housing.. 4 shows pads)
  4. Clutch fell apart... here's my 2HP Jiffy...
  5. There are people capable of denting their cars by just pulling them into the garage as well. Just sayin..... lol
  6. Hey Al... head over to Dan's.. .he's got a case of beer, his feet on a stool and just looking out at the same view in the yard!! lol
  7. That's the nicest kit I've seen Sebastian... where'd you get it, it looks like people wanna know! .. remember, anyone wanting to do this... if you have surge brakes you'll have to adapt the hydraulic line for a flex hose.
  8. I guess they have a 4 year contract. Why I found my sisters Jimmy stuffed full of booze when she died in 2009... as her and her friends were afraid they'd have no booze for the big party in Tweed! They seem to be a month or so early this time though...
  9. Some heavy plate... a couple bends.. a piece of angle welded across the top.. 2 feet of pressure treated wood wrapped in carpet.. 2 lag bolts and 2 U bolts to fit the frame. Don't even want to know what that cost me when ordering the boat. If I can hit that with a 22 foot Baron and not move it, you don't need anymore than that.
  10. If you get the boat/aircraft inside.. absolutely no breeze.. brush or spray it on and let it do it's stuff... it will wax over and then it goes to work. Trying it outside.. not so well unless it's dead calm. Once it has done it's thing you can then spatula the remover around to stubborn spots and a bit of scrubbing with some scotchbrite should get everything to bare aluminum. Many times if the stripper lifts the paint properly it will come off with the power washer with little or no other work. While you've got the water running...and flushing the remover away.. go to town with the scotchbrite and you're ready for the self etching primer. If you want to go really nuts you can hit it with an acid wash, but with todays paints not really needed. I highly doubt Lund or Princecraft are doing any more than etch primer and top coat.
  11. What the guys are telling you if you're not concerned it's perfect for a 40 year old boat.. depends how pretty you want it. But if you are going to go through the effort, you may as well do it right... Get it inside.. coat it with Mar-Hyde Tal-Strip II Aircraft Coating Remover.. let it do it's stuff and then blast it clean with a power washer. Go down to Carquest or your local jobber (you're gonna be there to get or order in the Mar-Hyde anyhow) and get some self etching primer for aluminum and some PPG fleet paint to cover.
  12. Long as the beer store is open Chris.. the town will be fine! ;O)
  13. I guess you weren't interested in the "free" light path ! If you're pinchin pennys I thought that was the cheapest solution...
  14. Saw Ron's pics back in January... I know that log... exactly where JohnnyB and Bert launched their canoe, that is Siderock Lake.. North end.
  15. Nope still have it G... Son and his honey were going to use it while they built the house so I hung onto it. Should get it cleaned up and for sale.. probably has a few years left in it with a bit of work.
  16. Why I just bought the old '83 Southwind for 18 grand.... it only took a couple 3 week summer vacations to pay for it based on rental costs.
  17. "red charging light" .. I can only assume you have a smart charger.. and they are pretty stupid when it comes to dead batteries. If you don't have an old style charger to boil the crap out of it to get it going again... put a set of jumper cables from the good battery to the dead battery and then throw the smart charger on them both to get it going.
  18. Right hand drive and a 6 speed standard... where do I order? Wanted to get Leah a new Sport Trac.. only to find out they discontinued it in early 2011
  19. Hwy 11 is closed both directions at Muskoka Road !
  20. I had a customer borrow it and go to Barrie and back... he was amazed at 10.8 litre / 100km compared to his 18 / 100km in his Ram. I can get it down to 11.7 behaving myself, but like I said that's mine and Daughter Kristal's average over a fair amount of time @ 13.4
  21. Just giving this some thought Ryan.. I haven't reset the computer in my F150 x 5.0 Litre in a long time. It's sitting at a 13.4 litres/100km average from city/hwy/towing trailer etc for probably the last year. That is 20.9 Miles per Imperial Gallon and you could tow Dave's boat!
  22. Calculate the fuel burn dollars vs the monthly payment dollars Ryan and you may find that you should keep driving old faithful !
  23. Yep... Fall 2006.. DT Sports, Gordon Bay Marine and Bay Marine in Hamilton. All couldn't be bothered to respond to emails asking for a quote on a 2150 Baron or 1950 Tyee..... that they wouldn't even have to put in their "floor plan" and see every day in their showroom. Temagami Marine was certainly happy to get their 15 to 20% profit, for a 70k+ boat, that didn't have to be 3rd party financed and sitting in their inventory!
  24. Here is a thought for you... go to Home Depot.. buy their walkway solar lamps for $1.98 each. Put them outside in the day (or a south facing window) and then place them in the hall for the night. Free power !
