  1. there are new accessories coming out for the hero 2 such as wifi remote so i doubt price will be dropping much any time soon
  2. i want a pontoon like this so bad. yours looks really sweet drifter. do you guys find that a pontoon like that needs a trolling motor or is it alright to paddle?
  3. thanks guys, those knots sound much better and arent any harder. i received a knot tying tool with my rod but until now was unsure of how to use it so i never bothered. now im set to go.
  4. i would also like to know some knots for setting up. I attach the backing to fly line via an albright knot currently, this is what i use from there I have a heavy mono tied to my fly line with an albright(?) knot I tied an anchor knot in the end of the heavy mono I tie an anchor knot in the end of my leader leaving a small loop I use a loop to loop to connect the leader to mono loop attached to the fly line from there i use either a uni to uni or albright knot to attach the tippit I'm not sure if that helps. I kinda just patched this all together going off what was on the rod when I bought it (used). i bet someone will chime in with a much better answer haha. i think it is the albright knot i use but not sure.
  5. thanks for the clarification fellas!
  6. Are you saying Lake O shorelines fall under FMZ 17 regulations? I did not think this was the case but I have been wrong before.
  7. nice kawarthas pike for sure. Ive tried there once with no success.
  8. Nice fish guys! Wrap the ends of the jaw spreaders with tape or some sort of pad so theyre not as sharp in the pikes mouth. I have seen them go right through unfortunately.
  9. So with the prespawn pike season coming to a close in most areas, I was wondering how the OFC members made out this year with the unusual weather. In years past, spring pike reports were plentiful so I know theres some gator hunters out there. Heres the biggest I got, from lake ontario. Lets see your catches! I didnt get a 40" like i was hoping haha hopefully someone else did! Heres a video I made of the trip with the GoPro, most of you will recognize the area! Post up your spring pike
  10. also another happy camper with the frabil collapsable. However I did feel it straining on a big steelhead once and thought it was on the edge of breaking. it was fully extended and the fish was heaaaavy.
  11. Something should be done. This is bad news for environmental students such as myself. In high schools just 5-10 years ago all the teachers toted the environment studies as a lead into a growing job opportunity. Yeah Right If enough awareness is raised perhaps we could be heard.
  12. Im in for the tournament so we can get the waiting members on a team
  13. haha I noticed that as I was drooling over a sage bass II kit. I'm guessing the 290 grain bass taper fit the 8 weight rod? edit: I noticed only the 230 grain is available on the madison site
  14. I'm thinking the sage bass taper is what I need for line. Perhaps the 8 weight would be better. Thanks for all the tips!
  15. The signature series is calling my name. Not to hijack the thread here, but If im targeting specifically pike would an 8 or 9 weight be better? I fish st clair where muskie are lurking on occasion, yet I also want to be able to present to bass on occasion
  16. I just bought my first fly rod, a st croix legend ultra 7 wt and it exploded just below the first ferrule while casting a 3 inch streamer. I was fairly surprised to say the least! Solopaddler, whats the shipping typically like on rods from the madison river fishing company?
  17. Imovie is a mac only program that comes with mac computers, If you have a mac and its not installed, I believe you can get it here. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html I just noticed theres Imovie 11 for 15 bucks Im downloading it to giver a try.
  18. Perhaps I just need more practice with Imovie. I would like more transition options but youre certainly right for a free program it does work well, and its all for fun so I dont wanna spend any more consider the price of the go pro itself haha the slow motion on final cut pro is much smoother and the exported video seems to be better quality but for $300 retail the program better do something!
  19. that is incredible. thanks for sharing
  20. EDIT: didnt see the link above, thanks! I usually use Imovie HD to edit, however, I have a friend who uses final cut pro x. Its a much better program for mac editing but very expensive!! heres a video I made with the hero 2 and imovie HD, shot in 960 to reduce the fisheye effect. I need to work on my editing and getting the camera on a little quicker but let me know any other tips! Hopefully no one jumps on the location Any recommendations for a cheap Mac editing program?
  21. I got this February 1st, a good reward after learning to steelhead all winter. My best steelhead yet. Thats a monster l2p!
  22. I've caught pike downstream in chatham all the way to the mouth, not necessarily trophies but pike are in the river somewhere.
  23. pretty cool steelheading vid, see some of my stomping grounds in there lol what program do you use to edit quebec kid?
  24. My go pro 2 did not come with a display, it is an extra option. A rather pricey one at around $100 I believe. Would certainly come in handy but will have to wait till next year with the gas prices.
  25. i have often wondered about this topic myself. I usually fish every week and would post reports, however I usually opt not too because I've never really been sure what is proper etiquette regarding reports. I have a nice spring pike report I'd love to toss up, however I feel the topic is sensitive considering the weather
