  1. I am not understanding why Cabelas hasn't setup shop here too. Not that I don't like BPS, but Cabelas has stuff to offer that I'd be interested in too that BPS doesn't. Plus healthy competition is good for us all.
  2. Good read and glad this is being put up front.
  3. Yeah definitely does, it is unbelievable how much that it's not so common.
  4. It's an awesome show, must remember to set it up!
  5. Awesome time, it looks like it was a great day for sure. Love those family outings!
  6. Also, drop shot works on multi species, works great on Crappie and Perch. If you downsize your bait to 1-2" minnow imitation it works well. Just this saturday caught some nice panfish, of course did get a few OOS bass. They seem to be very aggressive lately (caught 12), I caught 4 crappie and 10 perch.
  7. Nice catches. Sounds like it was a fun day!
  8. I never thought about doing that, of course I mostly practice C&R. Sounds like a good idea to try the next time I catch a pike.
  9. I agree, I used big game back when I use to use Mono as my main line more.
  10. I have a pair of work boots that is rated for chemical spills and has steel toe protection. I know it's overkill, but I don't have a need for them anymore as they were for my previous job when I did have to go in a dangerous area. it is waterproof of course, I have used them a couple of times this year very comfy and always have dry feet. Not to mention if something tried to bite my toes they are in for a treat.
  11. Nice boat, it is something we are looking at getting next year, but we are trying to figure out if it's worth it to get. I may have to follow up with you next year.
  12. Yes, drop shotting isn't just a "light tackle" presentation. You can use this in heavy cover too, like timber, vegetation etc..of course you would have to upsize the "standard" ML rod with 4lb test! I have a MH/XF 7'2" Casting rod I use for heavier application with 30lb braid and 12lb floro leader and use a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG texas rigged plastic.
  13. I usually use the Gamakatsu drop shot hooks, never really used a swivel, just use the standard palomar and with a clip pencil weight at the bottom. I did get two of those VMC spinshot hooks to try out when I received my May 2013 Mystery Tackle Box subscription. Will have to try them out. (I guess maybe I don't have that much line twist problem, because I use a Baitcaster for my drop shots..I used a MH/XF Cumara 6'8" - with a Curado 50E, loaded with 8lb floroclear.)
  14. Sad to hear man, I hope for the best and speedy recovery.
  15. Nice fish and happy for your Musky fisherman, HAVE FUN and GOOD LUCK! Us bass fisherman have to wait a few more weeks.
  16. Anyone know of anyone locally here (Guelph, Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge) that makes quality jigs and sell them in bulk? I am looking specifically for 1/4-3/8-1/2, all types (Football, Casting and Brush Jigs). I'd like to purchase like 30-50 of them, need to restock for the upcoming season! Thanks! In retail ones don't always have the colors I want.
  17. Yeah, it seems odd he can't tell me specifics..etc. I have stopped dealing with him.
  18. This is a great topic, I have found a guy locally...but I haven't pulled the trigger as I have no experience in venturing into the custom rod building. The guy claims he can make an amazing punching rig for 200 bucks. He just can't give me details on what "amazing" is.
  19. Where is he located? and how much were the work of arts he made for you?
  20. Wow that is insane, that is a lot of snow.
