  1. Weird, he gave me all of the information via PM regarding my issue and provided me the paperwork too.
  2. I would be raising more hell right now. That Bull what they did personally and I'm a loyal Shimano/G Loomis fan too. Thankfully over the 20 years I've owned a Shimano product I never broke a rod..*knock on wood* so I haven't tested their warranty ever, why I am fan because they are just reliable. I hope I don't have to go through this. By the way, if you frequent the TT boards, you could always post there in the Shimano Support Forum - Bantam1 is the Shimano Rep there and is top notch at assisting people. Maybe try him? (I actually have a V Rod that has a minor issue with the reel locking, he said I could get it replaced since it's a defect after years of having it. I didn't replace it because it has sentimental value, it was a rod I first used when I started bass fishing hardcore. I'll probably just get it fixed locally because I don't want to replace it with a new rod.)
  3. Nice, finally another choice. Maybe this news will spark some better service and prices with BPS.
  4. I know it's not your intention, but one would think you have an issue with bass boat owners still. A full throttled other vehicles will do the same, I had so many sea doo guys come out of nowhere to wave and smile 10' away from me while I was parked (almost dumping me in my 14' tinboat). Maybe people will not label you bass boat hater if you would just remove "bassboat". lol
  5. This sounds like more like people trying to find a way to stop tourneys on the lake altogether. I'm sure it's "annoying", but the owners' of the properties don't own the "lake", which I'm sure these guys think they do. Of course I'm probably a little bias as a guy who works for a company who has to deal with people like these guys. It's a real nuisance, they make all kinds of claims without any "scientific proof", because frankly pnce the ministry lawyers show up they usually go away when they say...when you pay for a biological, ecological and environmental impact study then you have no proof or evidence and you will get squashed by a mediator when we will have already paid for those assessments and approved by the ministry.
  6. Other than what is stated (setting your spool tension/brakes) three things effect casting distance, Line, Lure and Rod they all should be within the range. Meaning don't throw weightless plastics with 20lb florocarbon on a 7'6" H/F set up. Make sure you are within the rods limit. Also another advice when you make your first good cast, put electrical tape on the spool...that way when you practice another cast and it backlashes, it will only backlash to that point. Also, when I started to learn..I made a mistake a few years ago learning with a cheapo baitcaster. That is a huge mistake, at the very least buy a Black Max Pro? or my recommendation start off with a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier reel. That way you won't regret spending 200 on a good baitcaster if you feel baitcasters aren't for you.
  7. Man doesn't sound good, lets hope there is a good outcome.
  8. I also recommend 10lb braid, that is on all of my spinning outfits. Then use floro leaders, 6-10 lb is what I use. About the 30lb and pulling out of snags, you shouldn't use your reel or rod when pulling a snag. I will "ALWAYS" grab the line, wrap it around my arm a couple times and pull. I've done it up to 50lb braid, usually the hook straightens out before it snaps on that high.
  9. I mean if we went at it for 2 weeks, I'm sure we'd all want a "vacation". However, I haven't had problems catching them shallow. In fact I was in Hamilton harbor during my lunch break and landed LMB from shore and over the weekend..caught my PB 5lb LMB even at around 3-4 ft of water.
  10. Yeah my canoe kind of sucks stability wise, especially when a 2nd person is in it..even though it is rated for it. I've been thinking of how to put outriggers on it so I can stand in it, but I'm not "very" handy. lol Plus like you stated, I'd like one that would be easily removed for transportation.
  11. Thats what I'd be interested in too. I have a canoe that I don't want to have something "permanently" attached.
  12. Yes definitely you have to have an operators card, luckily before I went on my trip to the cottage last year..I double checked to see if a trolling motor requires an operator card. Sure enough it did! Only 3 days left to spare, I stayed up late and studied and did the course as quick as I could and passed the last day. The one thing I'd like to ask, without some kind of stabilizer on standard canoes (no flat back), won't that cause a lot of instability while trolling around?
  13. Also spawning bass/beds are normally harder to catch, so in general it won't be easy for anyone to catch them. Hence why the it's fine in most states to have it open year round. NY - Has a no live bait rule until June to late fall for bass. Other than that you can catch bass with artificial lures. As for the question who else has late spawns - Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, New Hampshire..most of the north east corridor. I haven't checked their regs bust most are open to C&R during spawn season and nothing kept until after a May/June.
  14. See the Guelph Lake, Mountsberg and Kelso Lake thread. Also, Shades Mill and Puslinch lake could be an option.
  15. OH I did get an email from Sail though, You're invited to our Storewide Summer Event to benefit from great deals for all your outdoor adventure needs. 16. Looks like they aren't on sale anymore, they just were yesterday. That sucks! Sorry man.
  17. Fishing World in Hamilton carries Dobyns. To be honest I wouldn't buy a Savvy series for jig and worms. I find the Shimano Crucial more sensitive, which is on sale at Fishing World, which btw you could get a price match at BPS. Show them the online ad from Fishing World or if you frequent a local tackle shop and have a good relation, I'm sure they will match it. At that price, it's an even better prive. In my opinion if you want to buy a bottom contact rod from Dobyns you need to at least go Champion. The Savvy just seems dead in my hands. Another rod to look at would be a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth (although it isn't a 7' it's 6'9") or take a look at the Fenwick Aetos, you can buy them at Sail 99.99 and 149.99). They fish better than the price, not going to say they are GLXs or Champion Extreme, but both rods are built well and balances well with a lot of reels. In my opinion the Elite Tech fishes equally to rods in the 199 range and the Aetos in the 200-300 range. Oh just realized you are using it for Senkos, since it is a slack line presentation, you should be fine with the Savvy.
  18. Knuckles, and ankles. Somehow the mosquitos love to attack my ankles, just last week I had a row of 4 of them together, it made one big swollen heap. Plus when I work out it gets irritated from the rubbing of the sock and shoe during my runs. I had to stop it was so bad!
  19. Cotton Cordell is a quality lure company. I use the Big O crankbaits in a few colors and like the super spots too. Never tried a live target craw, thanks for the tip.
  20. I find that it is cheaper to get most of my tackle or lures at the three local tackles shops I frequent. CDN Tire and even Wal Mart I find the prices to be usually .50 to 2 more, not everything though, I can get Power Pro Braid Super Slick at Wal Mart for 3 dollar cheaper, but thats the only good deal I see.
  21. In NY the regulations is bass open all year long, C&R mandatory during winter and no live baits I believe until June. Most bass fisherman practice C&R most of the time, it's the "bucket" fisherman who would be the issue to enforce, heck I still think they do it anyway.
  22. Our counterparts south of the border (NYC, PA, MN..etc) are allowed to fish earlier than us and understand why the rules are there and such. They've been fishing pre-spawn and spawn and don't hear an issue of bass population problems. Not that I would target of course on purpose. Just saying, if it hasn't had a serious adverse affect there...it shouldn't be too bad up here. Unless we're saying there are more bucket brigade type/stupid guys up here? I still think there are lot of guys who illegally fish for bass though, like yesterday I was at the bridge off highway 62 south Belleville, as I walking I noticed two guys fishing towards the rip rap under the middle of the bridge. Pretty obvious they were targetting bass. I yelled at them, but either they didn't hear me or didn't care.
