I read the rod and Reel trade in started. It’s not as big as it was before up here in my opinion. The US stores still make it a big deal, since the pandemic the spring fishing classic for Canada has been lackluster. Usually this is the time I take advantage to stock up on baits my local tackle stores don’t carry. I haven’t seen the same level of sales they had before. I’ve been watching out, I have a feeling it won’t be a big deal. This current flyer ends by the 12th. Let’s see what happens.

Man that sucks, that is a nice combo. If I lost a combo like that I'm not sure how I'd react, just recently I thought I lost a far cheaper combo and I was peeved and upset about it too. However it turned up because someone knew it was mine and thought it would be stolen. That was a BPS travel rod and BPS PQ reel, I'd be out for blood if it was my GLX/Met combos. I look on Kijiji daily, I'll keep an eye out.

Don't go too low on baitcasters because it will just frustrate you. Everyone has given you good advice, if you can pick up that BPS PQ for $30, you won't regret it! They are solid reels and it would be a heck of a lot easier to learn on than cheapo big box store combo/reels. I did that with a Quantum and it turned me off of baitcasters for awhile, until I bought a Shimano and a PQ. Now all I do is mostly use BCs. Also, I'd recommend you putting tape about a casting distance + 10 yard so you don't have to "respool" all the way in case of severe birdsnest. Although braid is awesome as main line, I would recommend buying mono to start off with so it doesn't hurt your wallet when you do birdsnest. Buy Berkley Big Game, in 12 lb the larger spool, I don't recall the amount but it's around 1k yards.

Guaranteed numbers would be nearly impossible to guarantee..especially from shore. Only way I can say you can guarantee would be a private pond with no pressure.

My SAIL in Cambridge had a bunch of the glide baits in the clearance bin, I mean lots on Monday.

Did you buy your rod yet? I was just at Sail. They had the previous Generation Crucial on clearance for 79.99.

The bass fishing for me has been subpar. Last year I was getting numbers and size, this year I'm not landing the fish in the same spots. I've tried different areas, landed a fish here and there...I just can't seem to catch the pattern. Usually I am nailing smallies and have yet to land one (well I didn't count the OOS Smallie). All largies and pikes. I'm perplexed!

That is the part I'm not happy about, but everything else I'm golden.

Yes this is unfortunate, I catch a lot of pike using a spinnerbait White or White or Cht and I get some OOS Bass. Basically some of the lures overlap, I'm not intentionally targeting them and I do my best to keep my colors more geared to what I think Pike traditionally will strike more than a bass...but I still catch that OOS fish, I don't take pictures I quickly unhook and release them when that happens. I've been following this thread for awhile and I tried to keep my mouth shut, but I found the SB comment a little off.

I agree, I've seen a nature show..showing a pod they call it? take on a Great White by ramming it on the side.

Yes do this all the time. Great technique for all types of species. I even caught an OOS Pike last Sunday.

There was a winter kill at Mountsberg? Glad the pike was cared for, as for the poachers.. Shame on them.

I'm going Friday evening just to grab some line and some lures that were marked on sale. Other than that, I wasn't blown away by the sales.

I would go to a local shop and ask them how much it would cost and explain to them. They should at least give you an estimate. Send him that much, but don't say anything in the letter that would incriminate you.

I personally don't care if he did whatever or any politician. I only care if the guy is delivering on his promises of making things better. Heck if anything it just proves the guy is human, also before I get labelled a fanboi, I am indifferent about Ford. I mean I could care less if they did drugs, had affairs, slept with escorts...etc, as long as it didn't screw with the policies by any political figure.
