It was in the 50's and I retrieved just fast enough to keep it above the weeds. I personally find that Pigeon muskie like the smaller baits and I always have my best luck with some kind of spinner bait or jig. Others have their luck with the body baits. The one I caught on the Wiley lure was the first one in years for me; could be I don't use them much anymore though.

Thanks for the camera idea guys!

These are two of the fish from Monday. I think I need to invest in a go pro.

I haven't been out fishing for a couple of weeks which is very strange for me. Decided to go out on Saturday for some muskie and possibly some panfish. I know it's quite the difference in targets, but I usually go for what bites. I got out around 10am and started working an area right in front of my place. Started with a Mepps Muskie Killer. which paid off within 15 minutes. I have fished for muskie for years, but will have to say that the past few years have been lean for me. I tend to like the smaller spinners because they are not as hard on the shoulders as those cowgirls and similar ones. Well I was able to get that fish in the net, take a few terrible pictures and release a 46" beauty. I'm not very good at taking photos while out by myself. I ended up moving to another spot and continued with the mepps. Had another 40+ fish follow in, but it didn't want to commit. Continuing to work along that area didn't produce another fish, so moved a little farther up the lake. On maybe the first or second cast, a fish hit as soon as the lure hit the water. Ended up boating a nice 42 incher. Again, a crappy picture and a good release. Called it quits around 3pm, but made a mental note of the follow. Was able to make it out again on Monday, but once again by myself. I started in front of my place again and had two follows within the first half hour using the mepps. Didn't get any to hit in the first area so decided to move to where I had a follow on Saturday. I figured I would switch up baits and try a Wiley Lure. I work it very slow and sure enough a beauty 42' fish chomped it. I continued to use that lure and had numerous follows and all seemed like 40 inch fish. I continued to move around, but ended back to the spot with the most follows. Thought I might try a jig to see if those follows would pan out. I was just about to switch to the jig from the mepps when I saw a fish surface. I threw the mepps to the exact spot and the fish hit immediately. Battled that one in and I would estimate it at around 38". Made a few more cast with the mepps and then finally changed to the large jig. First cast BOOM, landed a nice chunky 40" fish. So, that's 5 muskie in 10 hours of fishing. I think I died and went to muskie heaven. Oh, zero on the panfish!

Funny someone should mention Lady Fish. Those buggers jump 6-8 feet out of the water when you hook them. Bass have been heavily pressured in Florida over the years and many of those bigguns were kept judging by the old pictures in many of the tackle stores. Lots of water to try though and they do grow big there. I would try a smaller lake that is easier to pick apart. Texas might be a better destination for monster bass.

As much as I think they might have made a mistake in letting AA go, I don't feel sorry for any players and their feelings about management. They are compensated very well to play baseball. In regards to attracting top notch players, it's up to the existing players to show that the Blue Jays are a top flight team and a good destination.

Gbay You're asking me to breach confidentiality? I can't do that. But if I walk into a home and someone tells me they don't have dollars for food or rent and I smell pot, that's proof enough for me. I wasn't comparing alcohol to pot, I was saying that adults spend money on either rather than making the right choices to support their family.
-
Gbay-some adults choose to buy pot rather than put clothes on their kids backs or food on the table. That's an issue when you look at a family living in poverty. Kids suffer because of the choice made by their parent. Legalizing pot will not change this situation. Now, you can throw alcohol in in the place of pot and have the same results. I work in the social service field and see it all the time. Decriminalizing pot would be the better way to go. Court costs down and no silly criminal record for possessing a couple of joints.

It won't stop or reduce crime, just another tax grab. Maybe make some of the laws a little tougher on the criminals.

Nice reward for hitting the water on a cold and windy day!

I agree that a larger ice surface might help.

Making a mistake in the social media age is something else.

No weight, 22-23", actually caught it off the dock which really shocked me..

I have caught fall muskie over 40 feet of water with the bait down 15' in Pigeon. I am no specialist though. Watch out for Hurricane point if you venture over that way, the rocks can catch you off guard. You will mark schools of bait fish in the deeper water. The muskie should be around them.

The Royals are a very good team who have shown that over the last two years. Jays are in tough to even win one more. Let's Go Blue Jays!

Life goes on. We always seem to adjust to the slight changes made by a new Government. I don't know if any Government would help those of us that are struggling in or near retirement age with no private pension.

However, Adam Vaughn is now employed again. -
Probably the last big smallie of the season for me. She back swimming for the next lucky angler. Still hope to get out for some trout or muskie though.

I wish my wife was into the fishing scene like her! -
I hear you, I just never agreed that paying people big bucks will get the best of the bunch. My conspiracy theory is that it is just a way to line each other's pockets. You can apply that to politicians also. We're all hurting and hearing those kind of payouts just shoves the knife in a little farther.
