  1. Seriously though I'm already marking off the days on the callendar for a return next spring. I've fished all over N/W ON and guided at Kesagami and this river tops anything I've fished for pike. Still waiting on some video clips and photos from one of the boys, I should have something posted next week.
  2. I need a bit of time, been working non stop since we returned Wed morning. It was amazing though, lots of giant pike.
  3. Amazing, thanks for posting that. What's even more incredible to me is that it was caught in the river. They don't usually start to show up in numbers 'till a bit later. With the warm temps it must have been a battle.
  4. Congrat's on the anniversary. Things are looking good at your camp, nice work.
  5. Why? I've got 2 of them and they're never used.
  6. Despit the lack of fish it sounds like a fun weekend. Great place you've got there as well.
  7. Incredible! I'd love to know what baits you were using.
  8. The mods are great and are a big part of the success of this board....but the members are what make it stand out. You're a good man Roy. Personally I just arrived back from a far north trip with 2 outstanding fellow OFNers. The trip itself never would have happened in the first place if not for OFC.... This is a great place, full of amazing info and equally amazing people. It's been said earlier but for those people who complain you generally get what you give in life.
  9. Beyond the mangled lip that's a nice clean lookin' fish. (You made the right choice, )
  10. Great day with a couple of friends, fish are secondary.
  11. Nice shootin' there bud! Hoping to get a few of those slimers myself this week.
  12. LOTW and Nipigon, what an amazing double header. You guys have definitely got a nose for fish!
  13. Beautiful fish! So what'd you get 'em on? Red Devil or 5 of Diamonds?
  14. Just a thought but after reading this are you sure you havn't been tightening the throttle tension? Sounds like maybe you have in which case you need to find the steeering tension and loosen it.
  15. Average length of lead for me is about 30". Short leads in the 12-15" range are used on occasion when the fish are tight to the bottom. This summer I've had to finesse them to the nth degree and my leads have averaged 6-8', sometimes as long as 12'. It might seem too long to most but believe me on pressured finicky walleye especially in clear water, that's what you've got to do sometimes. Like Chris I rarely use a floating jig head, just a simple live bait rig with a lindy sinker and hooks of my choosing. Many times however I'll peg a small cylindrical shaped floater within 6" of my hook...
  16. What an awesome fish, she must have been thrilled.
  17. JB Weld has worked well patching tin boats for me. The one I patched 6 years ago had a toonie sized hole in the keel and it's still going strong.
  18. What a great story, thanks for taking the time.
  19. I've been down this road before myself. You may be able to find cheaper air charter out of Nakina or maybe Armstrong, but you'd have to fly your canoes in, a more expensive proposition. When you fly with Hearst Air you're using their boats which are cached on Hawley lake. There used to be an air charter service in Moosonee and that would've been your best bet. Unfortunately they're not in business anymore.
  20. Wow Tony that's fantastic, congratulations!
  21. HA, was just thinking the same thing. WTG Mike outstanding fish!
  22. Excellent Rob, nice fish of both species!
