  1. HAHA! See? There you go. I have to admit my question was mostly rhetorical, but I was still interested in what people thought. I'll admit they may give off more thump, chatter, flash...whatever. But I think they probably were made to catch fishermen not fish.
  2. Hey bud, I've always just rigged them with a jig head. I use them in slow estuary type water only. A tube head allows for a more horizontal minnow-like presentation under the float. Also, while you will sometimes catch fish on them dead drifting, either a small ripple on the water or occasional twitches of the float help immensly. Pencil style floats work better for this than round or oblong shaped floats. If you attempt to twitch a roundish shaped float you'll invariably end up pulling it off whatever seam your drifting. A pencil style float will "waggle" back and forth. You'll still give the jig action with a twitch, but won't pull it off course. Cheers
  3. To heck with the float gear, let's go burn some bucktails. I've got the fever now man!
  4. Okay, but why do they catch bigger fish? What's the reasoning behind the 2 blades?
  5. Roy I'm with you totally. What prompted the question I did a quick search and this type seems to be the most common.
  6. It takes a gentle touch boys. Don't squeeze them too roughly!! Treat your condiments like women and in due time you'll have them mastered. I've never had a problem with mine.
  7. When I first started dating my wife I brought her on a cheap 3 night fly in trip out of Wawa. Caught crazy numbers of fish and she's been hooked ever since. It's just like taking young kids fishing, you've got to bring them somewhere where there's lots of action. More actual catching than just fishing....make it fun.
  8. No, the ones I'm referring to the blades are side by side like this: Obviously there'd be more thump and flash, but are they that much better than normal bucktails? I'd love to hear from some musky guys.
  9. I'm a huge fan of oversized inline bucktails for musky and pike and have been for years. I've got dozens of standard single blade bucktails that I've had forever, most collected when I was heavy into musky fishing. I've noticed that the vast majority of larger inline bucks being sold these days are tandem blades. Why is that? Are they that much more effective? Just wondering
  10. Yes they work. Have been using micro tubes under a float for over 20 years.
  11. Light rain? I live in Grimsby and work at the weather office and havn't seen a trace of rain in weeks. You must've had one of those cartoon black rain clouds hovering over your head. (Nice fishies btw.)
  12. It's entirely possible that whoever pm'd you has less knowledge than yourself although I can relate to your feelings. I have responded to countless pm's for info, some from active board members. Many, many times without even a resonse saying thanks.
  13. Excellent Doug. I've already said it but it was a pleasure having both of you along.
  14. You won't be sorry bud. They're easy to install, main thing is getting the angle correct. They provide a template but I found the directions for that part to be sketchy. Drop me a line if you need some help.
  15. Most every Lake O trib has native brookies in the headwaters.
  16. She's great I definitely got lucky. Once again thanks everyone glad you enjoyed the report.
  17. Actually rainfall at this point is the enemy. Right now because of lack of rain they're stalled at the rivermouths. They're stacking up in the estuaries and off the piers. Throwing hardware down low the is the most fun you'll have. Once they enter the rivers (or in most cases tiny creeks) you can have 'em.
  18. Mine was stolen with my wallet a couple years ago. I've been trying to get it replaced but with no central database I'm outta luck. What a joke.
  19. Cool report and beautiful scenery thanks. Trimax hasn't been around for years. 18-19 years ago it was my favourite line and incredibly expensive. I was sad to see it discontinued. Be interesting to see if line that old holds up.
  20. Almost skunked....literally. Man that's classic
  21. Wow buy a lottery ticket today. If they're calling for stormy weather don't venture outside, you'll be struck by lightning.
  22. Thanks Chris. Do you mean because you couldn't swing the trip yourself? (There will be other opportunities. )
  23. The cream will usually rise to the top. Congrat's to Tony once again, amazing.
