  1. Nice Simon, we're seeing your boy grow up before our eyes.
  2. Awesome fish Ben. Just curious, how do you like the Frabill suit? I've been considering one myself.
  3. Adam this is the unit I used on our trip last week, I really like it: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Eagle174-FishEasy-350c-Color-Portable-Sonar-Unit-Soft-Pack/701278.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dportable%2Bfish%2Bfinder%26x%3D19%26y%3D10%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=portable+fish+finder&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products Comes in a soft pack and has a large rechargable 12V battery. Great little unit. As far as the suction cups I never use one. Take off the suction cup and screw the transducer to small piece of strapping cut to fit the height of the transom. Clamp it on with 2 small C clamps and you're good to go.
  4. Are you still doing the river trip? If you're open to ideas I can point you in the direction of some awesome walleye lakes.
  5. Of course not. The term was used in the most figurative way possible.
  6. Right on buddy great to hear. 46" is darned good! I think we had 2 a hair over 45 but that's it. Good luck on the rest of your trip, hopefully that killer spoon I gave you is paying dividends and not just taking up space.
  7. As far as I'm concerned that's the best thing you've ever posted. A very nice tribute.
  8. Been working non stop since I've been back Gord. As per usual a large report will take me minimum 12 hours to whip off. I need to find the time.
  9. As someone who's paddled solo through thousands of km's of wilderness and a former ORCA certified instructor, I kept waiting for his routine to start and it never did. That was totally gay.
  10. Nice Jeff. Almost makes me want to go perch fishing.
  11. Great trip Johnny, looks like a blast!
  12. Nice bunch of walleyes and the little ones look happy, perfect trip.
  13. Amazing brookies as usual Dan, just gorgeous.
  14. Why cut off the heads? I'm guessing that's Genady and his buddies. I marked their maps before we got on the plane.
  15. Yellow rabbit strip with a red head, the fish seemed to like them.
  16. He's headed back home this morning Roy. I had a great time fishing with Dave. He had one afternoon where he could do no wrong catching giant pike on his fly rod (including the biggest of the entire trip). I'll save that for later. For now here's a short video clip of Dave catching one of many walleye on the fly rod. It was pretty cool to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZrnl9Dx3ic
  17. Gord you definitely should have been there! Brutal weather with minus temps and snow, but lots of big gators. The guys building the camp on Richter also reported ridiculous numbers of walleye when they had a chance to fish. As soon as I have the time I'll get a report up. Cheers
  18. Looks like a perfect getaway. Nice to get away without the kids, something I need to do badly.
  19. Have a fantastic trip! If you fail in your quest for a trophy pike try here next time. http://eddienorth.com/ I'm headed up there today, my group is flying in tomorrow. Stoked is not the word. World class trophy pike.
  20. I would never fly in minnows. If you're an ON resident bring a minnow trap and trap your own. Something I've done many times. As far as live bait goes, I've been on 32 fly ins over the years and always bring a flat of worms packed in bedding to tip the jigs with. Yes, you will catch plenty of fish on undressed jigs. But walleye cannot resist a jig tipped with a worm. You will catch more fish I guarantee. Especially if conditions turn sour and a cold front moves through. Even in the most amazing fish filled waters weather can shut the fish down believe me. Live bait will help and it's cheap easy insurance. Regarding Nettogami, I fished it once years ago and also stayed at the peninsular cabin. We caught zillions of fish, although the majority of the walleye were on the smallish side. I'm sure you'll have a great trip. Our best luck was had by following the outlet river several km's to another small lake that was teeming with fish. Good luck!
  21. Very nice Mark! I do have a variety of prism tape as well. To run the reapers and grubs virtually weightless I prefer to use large resin jig heads. They weigh almost nothing and I really like the way I can fish them.
