  1. Wormdangler - I am sorry but you are wrong. You are obviously an inexperienced boater and that's fine - we all were once. Listen to the overwhelming awesome advices oven here. You can afford a 16' with a 50 horse - no need to spend 20 grand. It's a free world though - I just think you should stop convincing/arguing that the boat you are looking at is a good setup. It IS NOT but it will get you fishing so I guess it could be worse.
  2. Sinker is right. Traffic is a nightmare. It's expensive too. But it's still one of Canada's best spots to live IF u can Afford it. I lived there for 4 years. Loved it. I have also steelheaded some there. PM me and I will Give u a great tip/spot. Float reels, with heavier float rods, line and bigger foats are the way to go. Take a guided trip when u get there to familiarize yourself. That's what I did. And btw, the current and fish are typically waaaay stronger. Be careful as you learn.
  3. A better boat will come around. Be patient. Walk away from this one.
  4. With the dollar as low as it is, buying in Ontario is your best option. Good used boats are a little tougher to find at a great price as a result but buying used is likely still the best route. This "safety" debate is kind of silly. Both sides re correct. However, always buy a boat at or at least at 75% of the max rating. This is a no brainer. You will enjoy using the boat AND good luck selling it if u don't.
  5. Don't forget - Police get lied to all the time. For all they know - they were all drunk and that's what lead to the accident. Police are responsible for upholding the law not determining guilt or wishing in on extenuating circumstances. I am hoping they are going to let the facts be shared pre-trial and that the prosecutor will then make the correct decision - to dismiss the charges.
  6. That was a great post. So true
  7. Haha. I teach grade six.
  8. We are a little too nice and accommodating in Canada but I would rather have that than the alternative. We have our problems and sometimes politicians prioritize incorrectly in my mind. Overall, how many people on this planet have the time and money to be able to drive pickups, pull trailers, fish from expensive boats and sit around on cell phones and computers arguing on fishing sites with other passionate but good Canadians. I worry too about these things. Lately, I have been taking a step back to appreciate how good I have it. I applaud OFC members for making a stand or arguing for what they think is right regarding Canada, government decision and spending - as long as they are not aggressive it arrogant about it. I like hearing all of your opinions - even the super Conservative ones as I am basically liberal by nature - but i like Dutch's responses the best. He's a great debater. I am sure he would have gotten the strap often in school had he been born earlier.
  9. I have already stockpiled over a Hundred swammers.
  10. I can't really argue with this. We can still be welcoming to new immigrants without pushing so far or being such pushovers. I welcome immigrants but hate when we take being accommodating to such a ridiculous level.
  11. I remember UNICEF as I am getting old. Lol. I fully realize that some charity's skim off way too much money and have CEO's that earn way too much. I wasn't born yesterday unfortunately. As I grow older I also have become more cynical - especially where politics and money are involved. However, I try to maintain an open mindset. The simple, black and white and often politically conservative views of some of our members in threads like this concern me. But what do I know - I am likely a liberal even though I laugh at liberal politicians almost as much as conservative ones.
  12. That sounds a little hard to believe!!???? Collecting for Canadians.
  13. You are correct. I won't. Lol. Cause it sucks. I hope I remember this a year from now.
  14. I thought the show was pretty lame. It was -25 otherwise I don't think I would've gone.
  15. Well - you are entitled to embarrass yourself then. Making a mistake does not make someone stupid. Everybody makes them - some people get lucky and a few get punished severely.
  16. It is an amazing article.
  17. He got ripped in the comments section though.
  18. Great video
  19. Great show. How could anyone not like Weib. He's hilarious and a true innovator and not a sellout.
  20. Waste of time and money.
  21. Very few people can make a "real" living in the fishing industry. Good luck to you and kudos for following a dream.
  22. Saw your ad on kijiji. I had a friend who lived in parksville BC. Beautiful place. You are a lucky man.
  23. LotsA great advice here. For the $$$ I have found Basspro Carbonlites to be great rods. You can get a great Grand River Rod setup for 200$. No need to spend more or import. As said marketing hype/Bull is rampant.
  24. So who makes the best trailer ture then? And bias or radial???? I need new ones.
  25. Wow. You sir cram a lot of fun and fishing into one year. Amazing fish too. Wow.
