Marine Plywood and using composite 2x4" for boat bunks?
landry replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
"You don't know how to do something Landry? Tell me it ain't so" I don't know how to do a lot? And this summer, like you stated before, I don't seem to know a darn thing about catching fish. "The season that never was" for me too. -

I would go with Rampage or Drifter as they are experienced trollers. Berman mostly casts and Mocin is a new young guide but seems to do well. Drifter and Rampage launch out of Lighthouse Cove. There is a really nice cottage u can rent there too near the ramp and corner store/LCBO. They list on Kijiiji. we often stay at the petite Dragon motel right by the Belle River ramp. -
Wow. Looks great. And looks like fun but hard work.

Marine Plywood and using composite 2x4" for boat bunks?
landry replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
I made a light rear deck extension by adding aluminum supports on each end, carpeted 1/2" that is bolted on the supports and then using milk crates for deck support and storage underneath. My Crestliner decking happens to be perfect height for milk crates to slide under, which is what I use with downspout to hold my musky lures. As a result the rear deck addition weighs almost nothing and provides additional storage space. I can swap out crates and tackle easily too. -

His boat is smaller so 2x4 will be fine. -
Beausoleil Island camping area has had lots of issues. I grew up in Honey Harbour and never saw one from 1973-2000. We tried to camp there 5 years ago with small dog and small kids. While setting up a bear wandered right through our site within 50' of us and it was a giant. We packed up pretty quick and left. Lol.

I agree with the last few posts totally. And aluminum boats hold their value well in Ontario as there are not many good ones on Kijiji it the market at any one time. Bowriders are a dime a dozen and depreciate faster as a result on average. Your wife and child would love a boat like Ironmakers. Then everyone will be happy, including you. A 17-20' aluminum with a full windshield or dual console will make them plenty happy.

Great to hear.

I have no connection to them, just sharing a good deal.

He just got a skid of them. He has 27 series wet cell and gel too for same price.

Just a heads up. I got two 31 Series AGM deep cycle batteries for 115$ each at a place in Hamilton called GNB. They at seconds cause the handle at the top is missing. One year warranty. Their number is 905-549-4454.

I need to go fishing.

I think the discussion has been civil and appropriate. I have not had hard feelings towards anyone, Including Terry. I would say that I think your neighbour principal sounds like a major hypocrite. He got his summers off for years btw too. That made me laugh.

I agree Terry that some teachers take advantage. It drives me crazy. My friend is a doctor and my doctor and he makes low100,000 but he takes great pride in his work and does not whip through his appointments. He is always behind schedule cause he gives all his patients the time that is needed. That is where I got my info and first hand define from. He is awesome. I'm sure it varies with each Doctor. I wish there was less jealousy and anger directed at other contributing Canadians and more anger and accountability for our politicians. Now there is an area where did ills salaries, pensions and spending is out of control. I wish there were more fishing thread in this site lately:)

Family doctors do not take home as much as u think after expenses. Less that 150 for sure but closer to 100,000. Ya that's good money but they have to invest a ton and study under great pressure for 8 years and they work insanely hard with huge responsibities. Shouldn't they be rewarded and for taking this hard and costly career path. Shouldn't we want to encourage smart and skilled people to enter this profession so we have the best and brightest as our first line of defence in health care and illness diagnosis. We should be attacking politicians over their waste and poor spending and accountability - not our front line physicians. And I love how a thread like this always ends up bashing teachers. Lol. I'm an experienced teacher and I can tell you I work 8-4:30 everyday plus, not 6.5 hrs Terry. I get fired up when people attack other professions or careers - especially skilled tradesmen or professionals who invested in their future and then are supposed to feel bad for their good salaries. I don't criticize unless I've walked in their shoes. I have friends that make nearly 100,000 at Toyota in an unskilled job too - sounds ridiculous - but would I want to do that everyday - no way!!! They also deserve it. Good for them.

Ambassaduer reel doesnt fit the rod I bought
landry replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
Tom is bang on. It's a solid musky starter reel that will get u going with no issues. I still run one on my topwater rod. My other reels are curado 301, ambassadeur toro 60HS and a saltwater reel called an AVET SX for big bucktail cranking. All more expensive by quite a bit. I used YouTube and taught myself to service all my reels. They are simple to clean and replace parts if needed. Musky reels take a lot of abuse. -
The menacing elephant in the room - Donald Trump?
landry replied to scuro2's topic in General Discussion
The way I see it Glen is that both sides sling rumours and hypocritical half truths or lies at each other. What you hear from politicians or on Facebook may appear to be true and accurate but is often biased or complete Bull. Hilary is either a liar and self-serving politician or a superb person/leader - depends who u listen to. But all negative reports about her come from Republican based sources or are conversely matched by people who state the exact opposite about her. It's all so confusing and hard to filter for the common person. I'm not saying she's THE answer. However, she at least projects positivity and forward thinking. Donald, however, constantly spews negativity and fear mongering. Unfortunately, he gives us firsthand and filmed instances of racism, hate, inaccuracies, lies and a serious lack of understanding of trade, security and basic American constitutional law. He himself gives anyone who is willing to listen with a critical ear all the information one needs to see that he would be an embarrassing stupid, narcissistic, dishonest, arrogant and dangerous world leader. A good chunk of the world already resents, mistrusts or hates America. Trump would only exacerbate that problem. Do we need change in North America - dam right! These politicians are out of control, spoiled and unaccountable. Big business is the puppet master. It's sad. But if you think Trump is the common man's answer - my god - It may be too late for you. -
Ambassaduer reel doesnt fit the rod I bought
landry replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
I had poor durability issues with every Abu C reel I have bought. I have an Abu Toro that has held up very well though and I got it from the bottom of the Detroit R, (snagged it and a broken rod). I cleaned it up, dried it and relubed it and it has been flawless for 4 years. Lol. True story. I also used all the parts from the rodeo build a new Tackle Industries 10'6"xxh this spring:) -

I'm sure your comment made him feel great about his purchase Steve. Lol. I have owned 4 of them over the last 12 years. Not one failed on me. They r a solid reel for the price. I think it will do him just fine.
